where do you suggest finding a cheap hanging mannequin form thing?
[identity profile] mad-world.livejournal.com
and i have a couple questions. if there's something in the memories section about this then i apologize, but i looked through it and i'm pretty sure i didn't see anything.
first of all, my dresser is one of those cheap ones from target that you put together yourself. its unfinished wood. i'd like to not spend a lot of money to paint it, but paint it a really fun neon color. in the home depot the other day i spotted some spray paint. would spray paint work on it? if so, is there anything i'd need to do it before/after i used the spray paint?

also, i'd like the drawer to have some of that cabinet/drawer liner in it. but most of the kind i've seen is ugly. i was thinking about gluing some wrapping paper to the inside of the drawers, but i know that glue normally makes stuff look gross and crinkly. does anyone have any suggestions on what to use? i was also considering stapling some fabric to the inside, but i'm not sure.

and one more thing; i need a cheap, plastic kind of storage container to keep all my crafty things in. can anyone tell me a place that i can find those plastic sets of pull out drawers for a reasonable price?

thanks!

Altered hat

I had a white pill-box style hat, I painted it red with regular acrylic paint and replaced the satin ribbon with some gathered pink and red fabric and made a beaded flower to go on the front. I also made a make-shift hatpin to go with it. Here are pics. I had to use my scanner though so you can't see the whole hat.

I have a ton of flyers from this show I helped out with and have no idea what to do with them. All sorts of colors too...

...what to do?!
Ideas?

...Also, how do I tie secure knots with rats tail? It's so slippery...
My sister got a ton of supplies to make chokers and keychains and bracelets for her trip to Portgual representing Canada...

so now I've gotta figure out how to make a choker for her with rats tail...
Help?

my grandmother decided to bring me a huge bag of clothes she bought for me last week. nice gesture, just a BAD idea. grandmother's should never be allowed to pick out clothes for their 20 year old grand-daughters. ANYWAYS..

she bought me this nightgown, its got strawberries on it and is a light soft fabric. it's cute but NOT to wear.

i was trying to brainstorm ideas/things to make with the fabric. theres quite a bit of it seeing as its a nightgown. i was thinking a pillowcase, but i dunno.

any ideas?

I plan on having a loft in my dorm room again this coming year, but this time I think I want to put some sort of curtain hanging down from one of the long sides of the bed (the other side will be against the wall), just for fun and to create a little hideout underneath the bed where my futon will be. I'd like for it to either be able to be slid across or pulled back for when I just want to be on the futon, though. I can't exactly figure out the cheapest, easiest way to do this. It would have to be the length of a normal twin size bed and about five and a half feet tall. I was thinking of using some kind of beaded curtains, but none of them are that wide...and then I thought of maybe using a sheet turned on it's side, but I don't really know how that would work out. I don't have a sewing machine, so anything with complicated sewing wouldn't really work...but does anyone have any cheap ideas?

okay I'm making my first knitted purse.
I'm doing it really simple, basically a big rectangle which I'm gonna fold and then attatch a strap.
My question is whether or not I need to put a liner in. When I make purses out of fabric I always do but I'm not sure how to do that with a knitted purse.
I've knitted it in a pretty tight garter stitch so I think it'll be okay but what are y'all's opinions?

If you crochet this site should make you miss out on a ton of sleep, if you don't it should inspire you to learn how to.

I have two sets of questions...

1. Has anyone made their own kitty condo/scratching post? They are really expensive in the cat stores, and they don't seem that hard to make. Any tips?

2. I was considering buying a digital camera. I'd like one that could take pictures of my crafts, stuff like beaded necklaces and cross stitch and so on. What should I look for so that it has decent quality close-up pictures?

Thanks!

i made a whole bunch of perfumes today..

*the pink ones are cotton candy
*the greenish ones are stargazer lily

and they have stars & hearts floating around in them ala snowglobe-style.
i'll probably add some sort of decoration to the bottle, just haven't done that part yet :)

anyway, hello there..
this is my first post, although i've been a member for ages--
