Ok I need you people's help. I'm making these sterling cuffs with sayings stamped across them... I don't want to do the usual cheesy/sappy/yawn-inducing one worded ones like "Imagine" "Dream" or "Live, Love, Laugh" (gag). I want snappy, sassy, and truly original. Even bordering on the crass. Or just a really cool poem. I have several ideas, and have made quite a few, but I want more variety. If you have a favorite (short) poem, saying, word, quote, or reflection in any language (just include the translation, please...) you'd like to share, let me in on it and I just may make it into a bracelet. Or, if you know of any good web-sites that might set me up with some ideas... that would also be lovely. (Oh yeah, and if you want one special made just for you I can do that, too.)
Thanks kids!!!

Hi everyone! I'm new :)

I was wondering if anyone could give me some information on how to go about making leg warmers or 'leggings'. I was thinking of using knit or crocheted material but I'm not good at either of those hobbies and I know it's hard to cut and sew something that has been knit (or crocheted).

-Is there another type of fabric/material that would be a somewhat stretchy and soft to use?

I was thinking of wearing them in the fall or winter with a short jean skirt and a pair of sneakers. :)

Anywho, if anyone could help me out, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

I have a printer's drawer (like this one) from my dad's old litho shop. It has a lot of sentimental value and is in excellent shape, but I don't know what to do with it! The compartments are all different sizes.. I tried using it for rubber stamps but they kept falling out (I want to hang it on a wall), and some of the compartments are too small for anything I can think to put in them. I want it to look cool (of course) but still have something that related to what it was before (hence the rubber stamps).

I don't just want to use glass bottles, tiny figurines (though I guess it would depend on what they were, but it's too small for most that I've seen). I could glue stuff to the backs so that when it hangs they wouldn't fall out, but I don't know what to put in there!

Help?

Thanks!!

[like everyone else in the world] i love it when i see something super 'spensive and realize that i am capable of making it [i mean, someone had too, right?] it just makes me kinda happy to see something for $50 and recreate it for $10. anyways, i've been hunting down pricey items that are doable and "drawing" up tutorials for them. [no camera as of yet] they're pretty much for beginning crafters like me - but maybe some people could get ideas from them. ;P i call them "copycats" and i'm hopefully going to start a site and/or community with them because i'm constantly finding new things which make me go "icanmakethatandsavemoney" and making tutorials for them. the pictures are rather large, so i posted a couple here. don't laugh at my, um, "artistic abilities" ;-)

p.s. they're kinda based on how katie from ohmystars.net did her tutorials - sort of. if thats a problem please please let me know. :)

p.p.s. if anyone has found anything similar that they've had the same reaction to, let me know so maybe i can draw up a tutorial!

question 1: i've got quick lip gloss making recipes but i need a quick facial moisturizer making recipe. something where i use something like lubriderm as a base maybe? add in some tea tree oil and spf or something?

question 2: can you buy spf? i want to add some to my lip gloss and facial moisturizer. is it something you actually buy or would you just use some sunscreen?

thanks in advance!

so, I've been working on this quilt for my boyfriend's dorm room (you might remember me as the girl who came begging for smashing pumpkins t-shirts back in late april or early may.), and I'm nearly finished with it (lots of pictures coming soon!). I have lots of fabric left..

I really like this fabric )

And I think I want to make a purse out of it.
Anybody know a good online site to for instructions/patterns to make purses? I looked in the faq and only found places to buy handles, and I think I'd rather make my own -- any instructions?

I believe I'm going to get some small red sequins and sew them around the flames.

Thank you in advance for your suggestions!

Also, if you're interested in reading about how I'm making my quilt and all, you can add me as a friend (I'm friends only..and filtered because my boyfriend is on my friends list), and I have a section in my memories labeled "Adam's Present" where you can read about it.

Does anyone know of any good sources for shadow boxes online? I am interested in doing some 3D collage type thing and I'm looking for a plain, unfinished shadowbox.

I'm a begginer at crafts and I really want to make a purse out of fabric and stitch it together..however..I don't have a sewing machine, so I was wondering if it'd be possible for me to make a good purse without one. What are your opinions? Thanks.

My boyfriend hadn't been remembering dreams for a long time before we started dating... now he is remembering them again so I made this dream journal for his birthday. :)

I was upset that i messed up during modge podging and it got a bit wrinkly but i'm happy with the overall appearance...

How does one make a hole in thin steel/metal without drilling? Is there a possible way to do this? I've thought about using a nail or something and hammering a hole, but wouldn't the hole end up kind of curved out on one side? Is there a cleaner way to do this? Any ideas?
