Hi Everyone,

I went through the memories section to see if I could find an answer to the following question, but nothing quite addressed this, hopefully someone can help.

I'll be attending a wedding next weekend and want to wear a real flower in my hair (actually tucked behind my ear -- a lily or hibiscus or something along those lines) I've tried wearing flowers in my hair before and they always seem to wilt after a couple of hours- I need this flower to hold up for the better part of the evening. I was trying to think of things that might work to keep the flower perky through the reception and all I could come up with was maybe spraying the flower with hairspray (no idea if this would work, just the first ting that came to mind). Does anyone know of a way to keep a fresh flower from wilting once it's out of water?
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give.
Have a great night!!

Finally took some bad bad pictures of my silk screen designs. I've only sold two shirts so far, but will have them at the block party this weekend and hoping I will sell a few more. Also - should have a website up in a couple days! yippee!!!

I was bored the other day, and I remembered that I had some wooden cut-outs I bought at AC Moore last year sometime. So, I got out my paints and I made some magnets.... I think they turned out OK.....
What do you think? )

Edit:
Does anyone know a good way to sell gift baskets? I love making them, and get rave reviews on the ones I make for gifts.... I just wondered how I could go about selling them. Has anyone ever made and sold them? Thanks!

I found this recipe for making sugar, which is like wax for body hair. It works great so I thought I'd share it. Sugar is different because it doesn't hurt like wax does. It only sticks to the hair so it's not as painful.

Mariah's Body Sugaring Recipe

2 C Sugar
1/4 C lemon juice
1/4 C Water

Mix all together, boil until it reaches 250 degrees F. or at softball stage (as in when making jelly or candy.) Pour into a jar. Nuke (lol... my term for using the microwave)for about 10 to 20 seconds to soften. (test and make sure not too hot before using this also) Powder area to be waxed... spread w/direction of hair growth, I recomend using small scraps of cotton fabric to cover the area you are to wax... then when cooled slightly pull fabric off against growth. The first time I tried this mixture I wasn't patient enough with the boiling and I should have used the candy thermomiter, but I didn't so it didn't turn out quite right. The next time I did it... it turned out just fine! :) Good luck!

For those who have made armwarmers out of toe socks before :

I want to have a thumb hole ...
I'm not sure about the rest of the fingers though.
I don't have a sewing machine...would it be easy/okay to just sew it together to make sure the threads don't screw up / fall apart by just folding a tad of the fabric? Is it even necessary?

If anyone have pictures of arm warmers made from toe socks that'd be real cool so I can look at it 'cause I'm bored. Thanks. XD

Does anyone know of any store/websites that can make a stencil from an image I have?

Does Kinko's or Staples do this kind of thing? I haven't called yet, because I figured you all could offer suggestions/solutions.

P.S. - I have made my own stencils which are a bit "ghetto" by tracing onto cardboard and cutting with an Exacto-Knife, but the image I am looking to have made into a stencil is a bit more complex and full of ridges and small lines.

Thanks girls.

i want to wear a candy necklace during the summer (and later, in september when it'll still be hot) but when i do the candy melts on my neck and makes it all sticky. is there something i can use to preserve it like some kind of spray sealer? what would you recommend i do?

here's a picture of the kind of necklace i mean, it's just the regular kind with elastic and candy beads.

oh yeah, i don't plan on eating the candy after the sealer is on it. so yeah.

thanks for your help!

Okay, so guess what happened to me? My internet modem broke. . . stupid laptop. SO that's why I haven't posted in forever, not like you noticed anyways, but yeah.

I have a question/problem/something needing settling.

I hammered out my first bracelet-cuff thing out of a stainless steel FORK, and I want the tips of the fork to NOT jab-scratch-and-rip off my flesh when putting the torture device on and off my wrist.

Some things I thought of (in request of your, "yeah, I'd go with that" or "None of them, do this:") :
Coating the ends with wax and/or plastic
Putting tiny balls of sauter on the tips of the fork
hammering the tips out right flat like paper and rolling them up sardine-style

Questions: Which one? Any? What would you do? What would look best? What would feel best? I'm looking to sell these babies, start a new fad. So it needs to be style-able AND comfort-able. THANKS!
