space-y pin ups?
Jul. 28th, 2003 01:32 amwhere can I find pictures of pin-up girls with space-y costumes, kind of like the cheesy ones they sometimes used in ads and stuff.
there's one i saw before that i'm looking for in particular...
it would look something like that, just NOT done in m.s.paint ^_^
i was looking all last night and couldn't find anything close to this.
help?

Jul. 28th, 2003 11:59 amthis is my first time posting here, but i read this community non-stop.
i like the summer because i can catch up on all my sewing and crafting and such. i made a skirt a few weeks ago out of a pair of brown dickies and i added a heart to it. i don't have a digital camera, so i had to resort to paint.

Jul. 28th, 2003 12:44 pmi'm planning a project pertaining to love, and the feeling of being loved.
i want to use some sort of song lyrics, and i'd be interested in the musical tastes of a community like this one.
what's your favourite love song?
lyrics, artists, titles would be appreciated.

Lantern Festival
Jul. 28th, 2003 01:35 pmOn Saturday I went to Illuminares.
It was beautiful and almost surreal. Thousands of people walking around with handmade lanterns in a perfectly dark park. Lanterns floating in the lake and hidden in groves of trees. It was so beautiful and impossible to capture with my slow-in-the-dark camera.
I made my own lantern.

AOL tin candle
Jul. 28th, 2003 02:19 pmSo, I had this AOL tin, just sitting there, begging to be made into something.
I grabbed my acrylic paint, Mod Podge, a copy of Animerica, some old "floating votive" candles I had, and the scissors, and went to work.
( forgive the cruddy image quality as my webcam sucks )
I painted it in acrylics to give it a rougher surface and to provide background color, then mini-collaged the lid with images from Ranma 1/2. On the inside, I glued in a picture of Ryoga Hibiki and made a little inscription with a sharpie. The entire thing was then sealed with the sparkle Mod Podge to waterproof and keep the paint from chipping. Then, I melted the votives, and poured the wax into the tin, placing four of the votive wicks inside. And voila. :) This was made as a gift for my boyfriend, who adores Ranma 1/2.
Just thought I'd share. :)

Basic Black Skirt
Jul. 28th, 2003 06:46 pmFirst off I don't know much on clothing. I have a basic black skirt that comes just right to my knees.. It's few years old and the hem on the bottom is starting to wear out. I love how the skirt hugs my body, so I don't wanna get rid of it..I like to think that I dress fairly conservative with a 1940's flare. Can anyone help out with how I should update my skirt?
Thanks so much..
Thanks so much..
On Saturday I bought a guitar for the hefty sum of sixty Great British Pounds. I intentionally bought a plain one so I could decorate it (not that I had that much choice at such a low price). This afternoon I rode my scooter to the Post Office and bought 300 one penny postage stamps and 100 two penny stamps. The man said 'are you sure?'. 'Hell yes' I replied, only without the swearing.
Then I rode home as fast as my speed-capped scooter would carry me (30mph) and got to work.
( girls get busy not in the way )

sharpie on fabric?
Jul. 28th, 2003 10:15 pmi just finished my first t-shirt
skirt. it only took me a few
hours. it actually wasn't that
hard. anyway.. i used a sharpie
to mark lines where to take in the
seams, and now i need to take them
out. if i just wash it, will the ink come
out? if not, how can i get it off?
my left arm is a touch numb, it happens
everytime i hand-sew. does this happen
to anyone else?

Jul. 28th, 2003 10:27 pmmy mom and i like to save the tags our cats get when they get their yearly rabies shots. i am sure you know what i'm talking about. i have 11 of them (4 blue flower-like shapes, 2 red hearts, 3 green bells, 1 orange oval) and have no idea what to do with them.
since they have holes in them, my first idea was to make a charm bracelet of sorts, and put one on a keychain. not very exciting.
some have an H or an W written on the back in sharpie. i don't care if it shows, it would be nice to know which cat they were for, henry or whiskers. but i would totally love to decorate a few, although i am not sure how. idea would be wonderful.
this may be a little off topic, but it is somewhat related to this post. my mom really wants some portrait pictures of them both, espically henry who is pretty old. i would like to take them myself, to make them more special. not to mention that i love photography. the only problem is that neither one of them can sit still long enough for me to take a decent picture. any ideas for that?
