Does anyone know a way to "preserve" foam flip flops? I mean... to prevent the lighter colored ones from getting nasty dirty feet prints on them? (like the ones from old navy)
my school/summer job is under construction so it's even worse cause i'm flopping around campus all in dirt anyway!
I've just been making a paste out of oxiclean and water and scrubbing them with an old toothbrush, but it takes a while, AND it's rather annoying...

ANY help would be fantastic!

This is the chain necklace I just made. Pretty simple- 3 pieces of chain and some ribbon. I like it, though. I made a bracelet the same way, too.

do any of y'all know where i can find patterns for handbags online...particularly a good one for a messenger-style bag. i'm sure i could figure it out if i had the patience, but i'd rather not waste fabric and tear my hair out and throw my sewing machine across the room. thanks, kids.

I finished this monkey yesterday. She's 7.5 inches tall, and made of acrylic felt. After I finished her, Sean insisted she needed a banana, so I whipped that up as well. And yeah, I based her on the same pattern I used to make the cake criminal.

i love these. this one i finished like a month ago.. and right after i started working on another.

they're each about 3x2ft. big... the goal is to make enough so when i get my own place i can cover a whole wall.

I saw a post for about an Altoid tin pocket shrine thing, so I researched a little bit and now I have a pocket shrine for cats! I only had those new tangerine altoids and my parents wouldn't take me out to the mini mart for real altoid tins, so I just used the one I have. Here are pics: Read more... )

This is what I have been up to today. I made a bag out of some neat Asian fabric that I found a few weeks ago with black lining and a Velcro closure. Then I made a little bag that matches the first bag to go inside of it. It also has Velcro to keep it closed. The last thing I made was supposed to be a wallet out of some cute fabric with frogs on it but it is kind of way to big so I may turn it into a card holder since I have a card for every stupid store that I shop at. This was the first day that me and my brother VX 1120 (sewing machine) have ever gotten along in our 5 year relationship, I guess that is because I finally really looked at the manual and figured out how to adjust the tension. So now I can use a sewing machine. I have a bit of trouble going in a straight line a lot of times but I think I did ok for my first real project. All of the stuff I made came from my head and random cutting with the scissors. I cannot use patterns, I am much better at making up my own things. Life might be a little easier now that I do not have to hand sew everything.

I really want to make this. I know how to make french memo boards, but does anyone have any ideas on what I could use for the board part? I wouldn't want it to be too heavy...I really am clueless about different kinds of woods or other materials.

Any help you could give me would be fabulous.

i learned bout this community from [livejournal.com profile] skashley, who is an awesome and crafty chick.

just thought i'd toot my own horn and post pics of bag i made a lil while ago. mostly hand sewn, from scraps of fabric my best friend had in her basement. the strap i machine sewed cause that would have been a bitch to hand sew.

other picture is of a concert shirt i cut up. been doing that whenever i get bored, cutting them into tank tops, adding fishnet and patches. fishnet is pretty hard to work with, but i put sleves with finger holes on a tool shirt. anyway. i think the people in here are really talented and friendly.
