was just wondering if anyone here has ever sewn their own pair of kitty ears? y'know, the type that are fake fur and attached to a hairband? i need to make some for a costume and have a rough idea of what i have to do...but if anyone here could help me, that'd be great!

i started off this bear with the best of intentions. i carefully examined the pattern before i even started. i was determined this project would go perfecty... of course, before long i had completed abandoned the pattern and freeformed (with the exception of the ears) myself an atrociously ugly but entirely lovable teddybear ).
which i have named vincent, after vincent d'onofrio. okay, he's not something any of us would pay money for, i'll give you that, but he is rather soft and he gets on with geoffrey quite well. and speaking of geoffrey, i have a friend who is a big fan of his, so i decided to stencil her a t-shirt. )
i think it came out rather well, although of course it's hard to do geoffrey justice.

Not a good idea! I tried to use it last night for the first time, and it smelled...well, bad. I even have a peppermint oil soaked cloth inside, and it overpowered the peppermint smell.

Hello darling craftgrrls and boys.

I have a quick question.

My friend gave me this darling little ribbon on a birthday present earlier this week. She mentioned that I might be able to "do something" with it. I thought about mod podging it and sticking a pin on the back, thus creating a cheap replica of those things that urban outfitters is selling for $16.

Anyhoo, my question to you is: Will this work? If not, is there any other type of material I can use to seal/harden it?
Last but not least, here is a photo of the ribbon:

Thank you in advance.

Unusual question, but I thought you guys may have some ideas

I bought a beautiful turqouise glass ring in Italy this summer, but when i bought it my fingers must have been very swollen from the heat, so now, back in Canada, the ring is too big. I am trying to figure out what I can apply on the inside of the ring to sort of build up a layer inside so that it fits smaller.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

I've been checking out this community for a few days now, and i LOVE IT! I just wanted to ask one question and share one thing:

Q: Do you folks who sell crafts in "real life" (as opposed to the internet) find that you do a lot of business? (I am thinking of having a table at a local street fair once a week...it's a crowded place but I want to make sure my wares will sell before I spend the money on the table.)

And here's my share )

I made these a few weeks ago, but just now scanned them. I don't really know how to use a scanner, so I put it behind a cut in case it's HUGE.

Hello Hello.
I've decided to stop using commercial menstrual pads to get closer to nature and to help cut down on pollution and I want to start making my own reuseable ones or buy some from a place that makes them.
My question is for those of you that do make their own out of cloth and what not what kind of fabrics do you use?
Also if I was wondering if any of you make them where like, there is two peices of fabric on the outside and like, a sponge or soemthing else super absorbant on the inside?
Any tips ideas places to but them or anything else you want to offer me are greatly appericated!
Thanks in advance for any help!
Peace and Good Vibes!

Coming along so far- so good. I'm going to go and do a grass trim around it, and cut out ginger bread children go look like there walking along in the grass through the trim. The colored blocks are suppose to represent the colored blocks you move your piece on to in the game. I don't know if I want to make little houses and stick them on it or make the special place you go to thru out the game or just leave it with the grass trim and children. Well see.. any ideas??

(sorry for cross posting)

Whilst in the tryings of settling my room and making it livable, I broke stuff.

Namely, my wall mirror and my antique-style banker's lamp. I cursed the goblins that have been plaguing me, but soon enough realized the creative potential in my blind destruction.

I'm itching to get ideas from you superb people! )

Does anyone have a good way of telling the sizes of their double pointeds if the needles get loose from their package/all mixed up/etc?

A long time ago I saw a website where a knitter figured out how to use a wire gauge card to do this, but she had to do a lot of converting.

ok. so here's the deal.

i have these black leather ballet style shoes. and i want to put rocketships on them. because let's face it, everyone loves a rocketship.

so i was wondering, is there any kind of paint that will work for leather?

i was also thinking about sewing some fabric rocketships on, but i don't know what kind of fabric i would use, considering they are shoes and prone to getting dirty.

help me, and i will bathe you in gifts and cookies.

Hey all you crafty people out there.

I need serious help with a dress of mine. Homecoming is coming up in about a month. I've got my dress. It's pink.. and I want it black, because homecoming is a time for darker dresses traditionally. I've got a bottle of rit dye up in my cabinet, but it says that it's not recommended for 100% polyester or acetate.

The bad news.. the lace on the dress is polyester and the satin is acetate..

Is there any other dye I could use?

Or is Rit just paranoid?

So here I am, asking for your advice again.

I took a picture I had of my friend and enlarged it to a 5x7. It's now in black and white.

At first, I was thinking of framing it and giving it to my frined, but that would be extremely boring. Then I thought of cutting the person out, and gluing it to a collage. So, now I'm stuck.

Framing it would be neater, but boring. Is there a way I could liven up the frame?

Or the collage..is there a way I could make the black and white photo to stand out from the collage?

Or any other ideas would be really appreciated! I need help! =X

ok.
so being in a bad mood has led me to the decision to devote tonight to covering my walls in fabric (liquid starch style) but i can't for the life of me get it to work!

i followed the instructions that i saw on christopher lowell's website, but it's just not sticking.

does anyone have any tips/ tricks?

i did realize that i really shouldn't be trying to do this by myself. but other than that i don't know what i'm doing wrong

Trying to master sculpey is not as easy as one would think. But I made pixie horns. My little girl loves wearing these, she thinks they are cat ears.

title or description

I also made red and black ones. Pretty good for my first try.
