recap:

crafty day, Sunday sept. 14, (tomorrow!) Watertown, MA. email awfief@cs.brandeis.edu for directions.

Hey all,

Through the BRC, I'm organizing another crafty day! Everyone is
welcome, so I figured I'd pass along the invite. I always love seeing
what other people are doing, craftwise!

please distribute and post widely -- everyone is welcome (including lj communities)!

The Bisexual Resource Center is sponsoring a bring-your-own craft
afternoon at my place in Watertown Square on Sunday, September
14th, 2003 from 1-4 pm. Everyone is welcome, regardless of sexual orientation, gender expression, race, heritage, ethnicity, whatever.

Do you tat? knit? bead? crochet? cross-stitch? paint? watercolor? work
with wire? chain mail? quilt? origami? paper crafts? silk
painting? any other craft that I can't think of right now?

Well, come on down to my place in Watertown Square for a
get-together with other crafters. Everyone is welcome; come and bring
your work, or just bask in the inspiration of others.

For more information, e-mail me at awfief@cs.brandeis.edu. We'll have
tables and chairs, as well as a bit of open space.

This will be a regular monthly event, so watch your e-mail for updates on
future crafty gatherings!

Who: Anyone and everyone! if you don't do a craft, or can't bring yours,
come down just to hang out and see what everyone else is doing. Your
craft does not need to be alternative lifestyle related nor themed.

What: Crafty gathering -- bring your craft, spend a few hours getting
some of your craftwork done and talking to neat folks

Where: my place in Watertown Square; e-mail me at awfief@cs.brandeis.edu for directions.

When: 1-4 pm on Sunday, Sept. 14th

Cost: free!

Ok, so all the wonderful etches lately have made me start thinking about Christmas. My Bf's Brother's Gf...(Got all that?) Likes Precious Moments, but no one ever knows what to get her because she's been collecting for years. So I thought that if I took a coloring book page, and etched it on a frame with a large mat, it would be kind of personal...

These ) are the kind of images I'm thinking of. I would probably just use the actual girl or boy, not all the scenery around it...

The question is, what would be the best way to etch that? I liked the masking tape idea, but how would I go about that? Cover with masking tape, draw on the image, and cut out..but cut out what exactly? Just the outlines? Or would that be too difficult? Maybe leave just the lines?

HELP! PLEASE!

Okay, which material is better for a cardigan: acrylic or cotton? Cotton shrinks and acrylic is usually hand-wash or dry-clean only.

**edit**

I'm not creating a cardigan - I'm purchasing. I just came here to ask people who have experiance with materials, because most selling/fashion communities do not. I'll delete this if it's not okay.

I'm celebrating an year anniversary with my true love in a while, and am willing to do something big. I'm not the craftiest person, but making something (or somethings) sounds like a good idea since I can't buy him the moon.

So I need ideas for extraordinary gifs for a special guy. we've grown kinda tired of little-red-hearts and candies, but *any* idea is welcome. even non-cradty.
I count on you guys, you always have the best ideas.
(and before you mention it, I've already browsed through the v-day section in the memories.)

oh, and some info about him here. )

First post, been reading and watching for a while, but inspiration time has come and I have embarked on a project that is a bit beyond my expertise, which has mainly been saeing and what not, I got a metal lunch case/tin for my friends birthday ebcause she really wants one, but I couldn't afford a fancy one from the itnernet, I found a cheapie disney one in a toy store that is perfect but I want to decorate it. The decorating bit is fine, I can think of pictures to stick on like a collage or even paint it, thing is I want to seal it so my work doesn't melt or run or come off when she uses it, it needs to be practical. That can I use to give it a shiny smooth hard coating that won't run in water or come to pieces. I thought of a varnish spray but I don't think they are water resistant enough or thick enough. Any suggestions? I checked the FAQ and back searched the latest entries and couldn't find anything and I would really appreciate the help

My favorite craft store was having a huge sale today... so I got an early jump on Christmas Ornaments.

The glass ornaments were 59 cents each and the paint (2 oz. bottles of acrylic) were on sale, buy one at 99 cents, get one free!
