I can't readily find anything about making gloves in the FAQ/Memories, but if anyone can point it out to me, please do.

I somehow found this site and bookmarked it a while ago...
http://www.patternstudio.com/

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the site, the glove patterns, or with making gloves in general. I don't really want to buy their 'glove kit' since all of that stuff I either have already or can get locally (beeswax, leather needles, etc.) I think all I would order from them in theory is possibly some glove fabric and the glove patterns. Has anyone used these patterns? Will I be able to make gloves just off the pattern I wonder, or will I have to buy one of the beginners books about making gloves as well. I think I have seen books at the library about making gloves before, but they were quite antique and probably sort of dry reading or something. Hrm...

Let me know anything you can about this topic!

Looking through the community memories I saw a few things relating to this, but not quite the info I'm looking for.

Currently I'm trying to gather up some designs and things to sell in a semi-local clothing shop. However to do the volume that I would like to be able to do it requires a little more money (and a serger would be a nice perk!). Limited income really doesn't aid this. So I'm looking to see if anyone has any information on grants and/or loans for small business start up. I know that they exist it's just the process of getting the application filled out and finding the correct grant(s) for you. My search online turned up mostly listings for books and/or CD-roms that you had to pay to have shipped to you. The books I could go to my local Barnes & Noble and look through and choose which one I like and probably get it cheaper through friends.

So has anyone had success with finding applications online that you don't have to pay an "access fee" for first? Has anyone applied for and received a grant? Was it as easy as places say it is? How long did it take to receive the grant money?

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

I'm looking for instructions on how to make small dragons out of woven (gift) ribbon.

I've seen them at local Sci Fi Cons. They seem to be woven out of carefully cut, spliced and woven ribbon (the flat plasticy kind about 3/4" wide), and have a safety pin woven in to attach them to clothing.

I can't seem to find any instructions googling. =P

Does anyone have any links to webpages where I can get ideas for hand-made journals? I want to put together a journal that is somewhat like a scrapbook/diary/art journal and I am hoping to bind it myself too (something simple). I can't seem to come up with anything.

hi girls...
i'm wondering if any of you have scraps of dark colored material that you'd like to give away? i want to make my boyfriend a quilted pillow for christmas, and since i live in the city, there isn't a fabric store accessible by public transportation. so i'm looking for 2 or 3 inch squares of black, purple, red, dark red, silver, etc material. even materials such as velvets or ones with spooky patterns on it will be great too. think a 'gothy' pillow with a black base... i am more than willing to pay you for shipping if you have any scraps you'd like to unload on me. if you can help me out, please email me here or the address on my info page. thanks so much for your help!

I've noticed alot of you have some really awesome websites to either sell or showcase your crafts. I checked the faq and didn't find anything so....

I was thinking it'd be great to have a post to add to the faq on website design(which is a craft also..right?)

Where did you get your inspiration for how to do your website? Any other helpful web design sites? Html how to's?

Or just anything of the like...I'm going to be building a web site soon and all I can seem to find are tutorials on how to do pretty basic bland stuff. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Disclaimer: Don't worry, I'm not looking to steal your graphics or anything...I do all that stuff on my own. I'm looking for more of the formatting type stuff out there :)

I have a few pen pals. I was wondering what are some cheap-crafty and easy mailable ideas to tuck into envelopes? I don't want to spend an arm and leg on postage either.

Any sites on things to make that are small, flat and light weight besides oragami? I like oragami but I can never find simple projects!

I have posted here a photo of two pieces of peyote stitchwork swatches that I started while I was learning. (these two swatches are my very first attempts) I'd like to do something with them (other than pick out the beads), but I have no idea what I could turn them into since they're both so small. I'm open to suggestions of anything you think I could do with them. I've finished some pieces now and I really want to go back and do something with these swatches.

I used size 11 delicas and have about 80 different colors of delicas plus czech glass, indian pressed glass, colored copper wire, semi precious beads and drilled stones, lampwork glass, blown glass beads, dynamites brand seed beads and bugles, and lots of other stuff tiny enough to use so I'm good for components and beads. I'd really like to do something with these swatches if I can.

Ideas Please? I can add to them (more stitching) because neither is finished off in an permanent way.

Thanks :)

Hali~

have you ever seen such lovely food utensils? neither had i. i'm so proud.

i made these for my cousin's upcomng wedding. they were super cheap and easy. i also decorated four matching wine glasses, which i would also post if not for the fact that i have no digital camera and my webcam is super crappalicious.

so like i mentioned before i'm doing a bag for a friend's birthday. I'm nearly done and I'd like to show you all what i have so far. I also have a couple of questions;

1. I put glitter glue on the iron on transparency and it's already peeling off. Is there something I can do to make the glitter stay?
2.I have a big red rectangle which i had to put because of a big booboo, and i was thinking of putting some wording in there. Would it be better to stencil it on, or to use an iron on, and if the iron on is better, would the paint burn if i iron on it?

Ok, so see the pics! )
