hi. i will have pics up as soon as i get them developed. quick question though:

my boyfriend collects "lil homies" or whatever they are. those little 50 cent toys of hispanic characters. any idea how he could display his huge collection? they aren't stable enough to just put on a shelf. and he doesn't want to permentatly attach them (to play with them when i'm not around? i don't know.) any ideas?

thanks!!

I wanna make a collage for my bf for Christmas and I want to glue pics inside an outline of my own body. Anybody have any easy ideas on how to do that given that I have no access to photoshop or any scanners or digital cameras?

I made another beaded dragonfly tonight but screwed up and have to take almost the whole thing apart and start over. Ugh. It look much like the one I posted a link to the other day, but I guess no one can see it. That is what I hear. I still haven't figured out the picture hosting thing so forgive me.

I will be working on a beaded necklace this weekend for one of my friends and some of those origami beaded ornaments someone posted about recently. I wish I had thought of doing the bottle cap, resin necklaces but it is too late now. I will have to practice that in the new year. It is really hard for me to find cool images in this one-horse pokey town, though.

To anyone who had to read my decidedly off topic post I apologize. It was supposed to be posted to my private journal. I am a lug-head and it is one of "those" nights I guess. It has been deleted. Many many thanks to sweatoutheart for the help.

hey everyone. i'm still knitting my mom's christmas gift which is a scarf and hat set. (i'm really slow at knitting.) i would like to jazz it up a bit with one of those cool crocheted rosette pins that are popular now. i googled it but i haven't come up with anything promising. does anyone have a pattern or if you've made one free hand can you write me a pattern of it? i would like it to be pretty big, maybe the size of your palm. thanks so much.

Anyone else having trouble with that Homespun yarn from Lion Brand?

Every time I knit for any length of time I itch!

Itch horribly!

And I've broken out in little electrically-charged bumps all over my hands and lower arms. It's horrible!

The yarn is acrylic, so I have NO idea why it would be making me break out.

Too bad I'm knitting SCARVES that people are going to be wrapping around their NECKS.

Maybe I should tuck a little box of Benadryl in each package when I wrap them up...

I have been making jewelry (and a few other things) out of polymer clay, and a customer requested a cow pendant, so I made one...and made some more...and will probably be making even more...I LOVE them!! :)

I know this is a long shot, but I've lost the owner's manual that came with my KitchenAid mixer and it has my very favorite bread recipe in it. Does anyone out there have the book that would be willing to post the recipe for basic white bread? I know I could go online and get any number of recipes, but I can't find this specific one and it's my favorite. Thanks in advance, you'll make the carb addicts on my Xmas list very happy!

Can someone get me a 1/2 inch punch? i dont know where to find them and i want to make marble magnets!
[identity profile] tribalglenna.livejournal.com
I've been bit with the marble magnet bug, and I had no idea how to package them to give as gifts to my friends. So, while looking around aimlessly at JoAnn's (bad idea, by the way...I spent too much. LOL) I found these cute little boxes, and then painted them, and tied them with hemp cord. I think they're pretty neat. I just hope the magnets stay put.

im making a jewelry box for my mom for christmas.i bought one of those already made wooden boxes, and i just finished it.im gonna decopauge some pictures on it.

my question is,should i varnish it before or after i put on the pictures?

the varnish that i have has turned things weird colors before,so would it hurt the pasting process of the pictures?

I'm making most of my holiday gifts this year, and they're not going to be done on time. I have a three year old and a nine month old, the whole family was sick most of the month of November, and now, the weekend before Christmas, I got the flu.

I'm trying to maintain a sense of humor about it. The whole thing is approaching the scope of a comedy of errors, so at this point it's pretty easy to laugh at myself.

At any rate, I wanted to let my friends and family know that their gifts would be arriving late. Here's an e-mail that I just sent out to most of the people on my holiday gift list.

The e-mail... )

There is this place called the petroglyph where they provide that bisque and glace and charge you an arm and a leg to go paint it. But it's really fun. This is my boyfirend's latest creation:

I've seen the "recipies" in the FAQ for bath salts and was just wondering exactly how much one recipie would make.
if i am using baby food jars or a small container around that size, any clue how many i could make?

Thanks in advance

no i didn't fall into the marble magnet trap! I made plaster of paris fridge magnets. I brought 2 chocolate mould trays. Both have 6 shallow moulds in each tray. 1's bears and the other is fish. I then took a container and threw in plaster of paris and slowly added enough water to make a paste (I have worked with plaster of paris before and use to make statues when i was younger), then plonked into the moulds and into the backs of them i added a magnet. Make sure the magnet's not to deep in otherwise they don't stick to the fridge, i found that out with 2 of the bears and need to redo them again. They don't take long to dry and once dry remove carefully and paint up. I still have to do the fish ones and paint the other bears up, but i'll do that once my 2 year olds gone to bed., here are the bears. My 2 year old was playing with them just now which explains the chocolate finger prints and paint a bit chipped.
4 bears, 2 dressed and 2 undressed )

PS you can also make chalks using the chocolate shapes by adding enough powder paint to the plaster of paris mixture.

EDITED THE NEXT DAY: Input would of been great... I've just made a new batch up and instead of putting the magnet in, i'll wait til totally dry then sand the back back smooth and glue it on.

But does anyone have the instructions on how to make a necktie belt? I searched the faqs and I searched google and came up with absolutely nothing. I bought several cool/ugly/interesting ties already and plan to convert them for friends Christmas presents, but I can't remember the exact method.

I have this dear friend of mine who has a fascination with fake flowers and I thought a nice christmas gift would be to get some fake flowers and put them in something...

Not a flower pot, that is too common. She is the type of person who would buy a toaster and use that as a flower pot for her fake flowers....so I need something original

Any suggestions in what I can use or make as a flower pot for the fake flower display?

I got a tiny red organizer wallet for christ day that id like to modify. Its just a regular red leather zip up organizer about 5 ½ x 3 ½ inches in dimension. I was thinking maybe just a sharpie and a few pretty designs, maybe tattoo designs that I find online, or something.

& do you know any sites with good nature-y tattoos?

Any suggestions would be very appreciated. Thanks so much!

P. S. And thank you to everyone who replied to my crochet/scarf questions. My friend Green really liked it! couldn’t have done it without you guys, no kidding.

Building on my whole "tea" theme for gift baskets this Christmas, I made a candle out of an old tin.

One thing crossed my mind, however..

How big a risk am I taking by pouring candle wax into a twinings earl grey tea tin? Is there someway the whole thing could catch fire through just normal burning?

Thank you for any help!

what to do with candy wrappers?
I have a whole bunchoh celophane and foil wrappers from those nestle quality street candies, and I want to do something with them, but I'm not sure what
if I can't come up with anything, I'll probably end up putting them in a collage or something.
any ideas?

My mom and I are going to Ireland in July with our significant others, so I decided to make her a travel journal to go along with this little "Dublin At Hand" guide book that I bought her for Christmas. This is my first time posting images on here, so I'm extremely sorry if I do something wrong. Just let me know and I'll correct it:)

For anyone who is trying to make the Miss Vampy bag from this link, the instructions aren't quite right. If you're like me, you've spent the last couple of days trying to figure out how in the everloving hell that strap was going to end up on the outside. Well, its not.
You'll have to tweak the instruction a bit to make it work.
If you need more info, comment and I'll tell you how I made it work.
God bless trial and error!

Hello!

Because I'm a poor college student, who, until last week had all of 7 cents in her bank account, I haven't gotten my parents anything for christmas. after much persuasion by both of them telling me I didn't need to get them anything, I finally decided that I'm going to get them gift certificates for a trip to the movies. (my sister already got them gift certificates to a few resturants, so it can be the ultimate mom and dad's night out in christmas presents!)

Do any of you have some ideas on how I could maybe package this so that it looks more exciting than it really does? or have a small, inexpensive, maybe movie themed craft that I can make to go along with them?

thanks sooooo much!
Darrah
