My BF is a huge, huge VW Bug fan. He had one a few years back, until it crapped out on the side of the road and he had to get it towed (that was a fun day, lemme tell ya!). So now he drives a Kia, and drools over every old-style Bug that he sees.
SO!
I would like to possibly try to make him a stuffed Bug for V-day, or for whichever appropriate holiday/birthday happens to fall around the time that I finish it :)
Problem is... I have no earthly idea how to go about making it. I'm terrible at freestyling patterns. So I turn to you, bastion of craftiness, and beg for some help!
(it has to be a bug in the old-style, not the new Beetles. He hateses those with a fiery passion.)
i crocheted my first hat...i didn't use a pattern cause i'm no good at following the patterns...it's kinda cute but a little small for my big ol'head. ( Read more... )
i made one it worked gr8 i also added a little bit of velcro and now the flap stays shut what ive found is you have to glue EACH peice together with glue stick, then use gluegun to assemble.
I'm in the process of making an altered book for my boyfriend. So far all I've done is cut it out because I never seem to have time to work on it without him knowing. ( pictures )
some of you may have remembered i made this a few months ago. the back part i linked to was done with iron-ons, each word was an individual iron-on to help prevent crackage.
however, i appear to suck at t3h iron-on and they're starting to peel off around the edges....what can i do to prevent this, or more, re-iron them on? i don't have the backs of the iron-on paper anymore =\
So, I have a needle case for my regular needles but what do people do with their circular needles? I wondered about keeping them in a round tin (the kind cookies come in) but it doesn't seem a very good use of space.
my latest craft, a backlaced corset. it's made of a non-stretch transparant fabric which i sewed upon white sturdy cotton. i used plastic boning cause i can't find metal ones where i live. oh yeah, i made the pattern myself. here's a pic ( Read more... )
Here is the latest somewhat-nifty thing I've made. It is a belt made of checkered material that closes with a plastic buckle. I made four, and they are getting increasing better each time. ( So far, this is the best one. )
Ok, so I checked the FAQ and this isn't here. Simple enough question, I hope. Knitters, when I bind off, my tension is very bad, and it's always about twice as tight as it should be. As in, the starting end of my scarves are twice as wide as the finishing ends.
Any advice on how to correct the tension when binding off?
hi, ladies. i haven't posted in forever. crafter's block maybe. no more!
i'm moving into a new apartment that is adorable and deserves adorable things to go in it. unfortunately, i'm broke. i went thrifting today and found a pair of these chairs. the chrome is in excellent condition and they are really comfortable, just hideous.
Is altering a sweatshirt into a hoodie possible? It would take more than one, so I could cut pieces from one to sew to the other, but how exactly would I go about adding the hood in?
This is a rather spontaneous idea for a Valentine's Gift for my bf, who cant seem to have enough hoodies^_^
I was in there today just looking around and pretty much their entire craft department is on sale. I got Stretch Magic for $1.00. I got white glas cat's eye beads for $1.00....probably at least 150. They had other colors too. Seed beads were on sale...hemp...beads...letter beads. Tons of stuff. I also got beading needles for $0.60 I just thought I would share with you all. Pony beads are on clearance for like $0.70. I suggest checking it out of you live near one. Oh yeah...and like the 10 packs of sculpty-variety colors-were on sale for $2.50
I am desperately trying to find a website that I know I have been too. If I remember right, it was actually posted on a list of "DIY Craft Sites", as a suggestion for finding indepedent businesses to buy crafty gifts. This site sold a lot of "Day of the Dead" crafts, mostly do-it-yourself altar boxes. I specifically remember seeing a bride/groom altar kit.
Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Does anyone happen to have this website bookmarked, since I obviously didn't.
I've already tried searching for it on google, numerous times and have come up with nothing. I've alse tried backtracking through the craftgrrl posts but I can't find that particular post.
If anyone can help me, I would greatly greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
My pants are nowhere NEAR as good, but they were my first pair, and I like them. So there. Anyway, I've been wanting to paint these pants for forever, but that post pushed me over the edge into doing it. So these are my Rooney Pants.
i was wondering where one would find the base for making hats (in millinery, under the fabric))... it's a weaved sort of hard base.. i dont know what it's made out of or what it's called...
