I have the Marvy heat tool and Pearl Lustre embossing powder in black & blue (the only colors they had when I was there post christmas). I also have these markers. When I use the markers it seems like the ink dries before I can get the powder onto it, then only half the powder sticks. Or, I get some powder on the paper where I don't want it which creates permenant flecks of powder after I heat it. Gah! All I want are some hearts on my Valentines! I don't really want to invest in stamps at this point, that's why I got the markers. I figured I could just draw what I want.

Am I using crappy markers? Is it crappy powder? I am using blank cards, btw. Is that the problem? WTF! I want to emboss dammit!

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I was going to visit my cousin in the hospital, so I thought I'd make her something. I was looking through the FAQ's and found a link for "Mexian Paper Flowers"! So here is my attempt:

Paper Flowers Picture )

The stems could be longer, so I'll have to work on that!

We only had white, pink and leopard tissue paper in the house lol. I wrapped the bundle up with pipe cleaners and tulle, and I tied a bow with some red shiny raffia thing :)

I also made her a purple origami bat that I named "Vlad"!

(I originally posted this on crafty_bizness, but I'm posting here as well in the hopes that more people will see it and hopefully be able to help me since I need to get this taken care of asap. I hope that's okay!)

I've recently received my first "big" order from a woman who is requesting to pay with a credit card. I totally understand her reasons for not wanting to use another form of payment, but now my problem is finding out how to accept credit card payments. Is there a quick way that I can set up some kind of account? I don't need a terminal, necessarially, I just need the ability to "call in" a payment and have the money get to me somehow. I'm not really sure how the whole thing works! Any advice you have would be great. And just so no one says this, paypal is out of the question. She just wants to give me the credit card number and that's it. Thank you!!!

these are some shots of a wrap-around skirt i finished recently. i made it from three panels, no pattern. it's too big and a little too long, as i cut the panels to big. i thought i would hem it up more and sew bigger seams.

So I've been learning to knit, and I saw in SNB a pattern to sew a needle holder. Impatiently, I had to make one right away, rather than taking the time to go shopping for fabric, so I made this one out of magazine pages, much like the super cool wallets I've been seeing on here. Hope you like it, It's a little ghetto, but what the hell.

ladybugsoaps

so this is what i made today.
ladybug soaps to go in my ladybug bathroom.
i can't believe how easy these were to make.
i've had the stuff i needed to make it for ages and never got around to doing it.
i guess i thought it was more complicated than it actually was.
now, i want to get some more molds to make different soaps.

My sister and I have recently run into a problem. Our detergent discolored all our black stuff. I was thinking I could just buy some black dye and that would be the end of it, but they have screen printing on them. Anyone know if the screen printing will get ruined by the dye, or any other way to fix the problem?

Make yarn from your pets's fur!

I'm sure some of you own one of those yarn spinner things. Have any of you tried to make yarn out of your dog or cat's fur?

My friend Lauren didn't have a Valentine so I made her a man doll.
His name is Chet. but he doesn't have a last name because last names are for posers... yes.

His body is made of fleece, its really more of a cream color than in the pictures. hes stuffed with that poly-fill stuff. His shirt is made of random spandexy type stuff, his pants out of brown fleece and his hair out of black. His facial features are sticky felt......
I used a grommits to make him plugs and jump rings for his earings.

hi everyone! i've watched for a while, but am finally joining. you all do amazing things...

every year, i make valentines for my friends and family. it's so much more fun than christmas cards because i am usually the only one that sends handmade cards. i usually stick to one basic design and make a couple of changes to each; i work with fairly simple materials - papers, ribbons, silver pens...

i have a million things going on this week and wondered if you had any ideas or sites that you could direct me to for inspiration.

what are you all doing? where do you get your inspiration? know any good sites that you can get ideas??

i'll love you forever if you help...

So I've got this pair of grey corduroy pants that I got sick of wearing, but they're in excellent condition (they'd better be, they were like $60 at PacSun). I'm using this tutorial as a guideline for making them into a skirt. The new Joann Fabric super store just opened up today so I checked it out. They have *no* corduroy. (I figured, as it's a winter fabric and everyone is making spring stuff.) I was going to try and use a contrasting color, like red corduroy, but now I'm wondering if I should just try and get a matching grey corduroy. I was hoping to actually have the fabric in my hands and look at it against the pants, but my only choice is to look online now. Any opinions? Stick with corduroy fabric or use something else? Contrasting color?

This is my first commissioned piece. The gentleman wanting to please his woman asked me to make a hat for his beauty and bought 3 skeins of chenille for the task. This is my result. Not the best pics but I think they'll both like the hat. It was freeform.
