-I'm in the process of putting together a bake sale for my team, and I'm trying to come up with creative things to bake and sale on campus. Thanks to you all for the chocolate covered coffee bean idea! I made a test batch tonight and so far they've been well-recieved. ^^

-A side project of mine involves turning a basmati rice bag into a lined handbag with pockets. [I used an old messenger bag made out of corduroy as the lining.] Because the rice bag is made out of burlap, I've decided to make a macrame band for the shoulder strap. Could one of you crafty folks give me suggestions as to what sort of cord would be suitable for this sort of thing? I'm planning to use this handbag for small to medium things, like a book, keys, perhaps knitting stuff, or my camera. [Perhaps all of those things at once!] Also, I'm trying to find something that is both strong and won't irritate my bare skin. Finally, couuld any of you suggest macrame knots that would be ideal for this sort of function?

Thanks! ^^

My craft space is done. All clean, organized, and pretty. Whew! I love it.

If you missed the beginning of my dilemma, check out this post for the before pictures.

I wasn't sure if I'd be able to do it since I'm pretty lazy, kind of a slob, and very much a procrastinator. So, needless to say, I'm proud of the final result. )

edit://I've gotten some good comments with good suggestions in them so far. Now I'm just asking that if you want to leave an asinine comment, post one to yourself in your own journal. Because it's just a waste of everybody's time. This may seem like an odd question, but here I go anyways.....So, as usual, I checked the fact up and down but this time did not find an entry to help with my crafty conflict. I have these two pairs of converse shoes that are about 6/7 years old (not shit either, haha). Now what I'm wondering is what I can do to make them look better, as I can't just throw them away (we all know the older the converse, the better). Both pairs got ripped when I broke my ankle a while back and refused to not wear them, so the brace I had ripped the sides out. Any suggestions/ideas as what to do with them would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I make bags for the kids in the family and for friend's kids'(OK, really the parents appreciate them more than the kids, but who keeps track of those details) so that on Christmas they can pack all they're toys up in one bag and take one thing to the car (or the next grandparent's house) instead of lugging along armfulls and making several trips.

I just finished 2 bags featuring the Grinch, on the front and plain red on the back. These are for two boys in the family, so I had to keep it "boyish" so to speak. I have a couple of John Deere ones, one girly one in the works, too.

this is the Grinch one )

i know this may be a weird question...but i was just wondering if it's possible to make your own bathing suit? if so how would one go about doing this, and where could you find the fabric.

thanks.

I've been cross-stitching like crazy to get these done for Easter.

Cross stitched them, then stuffed and glued them into canning jar rings.  I'll fill the jars with candy and give to special friends.

Does anyone know if any place sells rolls of white/light colored paper that you can print on that is sticky on one side?

Do any of you know a way to get pictures on fabric besides transfer paper? My mom says shes heard of it done, just printing pictures on regular paper then ironing them on, but it doesn't sound right, so any other way?

So, I want to make these (http://www.bhg.com/bhg/story.jhtml?storyid=/templatedata/bhg/story/data/12320.xml&catref=SC1832) with my daughter.. Only problem being.. I have looked just about everywhere for liquid starch and have yet to find anything!!! It does list "Or fabric stiffener" .. but I'm clueless :) They only thing I've found it spray starch.
Anyone have any ideas? Maybe watered down glue?

I think to use at their wedding? I just happened upon this website which gives templates to use for decorating them.
Thought I'd share it with you all, I'm sure someone somewhere on here is getting married and needing this ^_^

Hey, long time, no posts to craftgrrl! Um, I was just wondering what ever happened to the craft journal that was circulating around the community...I guess it was around june or july last year? Anyway, I signed up to participate, and I haven't gotten it yet, which isn't a problem, but I'm going to be moving at the end of May, so if it gets sent here to what will be my old address, I'll likely never get it. I'm still getting mail at this address for people who haven't lived here in about 5 years, so who knows how much of my mail will get sunk here when I leave, including that book.
