Apr. 14th, 2004 12:06 amYou all are such super-duper craft divas and all around smarties, that I was sure you could help me with my current...

I made a couple ear cuffs using some wire I got at the dollar store (I have no clue what gauge it is) and some seed beads.

Apr. 14th, 2004 07:19 amAbout two years ago, a friend of mine in Germany went to the coast of Ireland and sent me a bunch of seashells and a incredibly tiny sanddollar for my birthday. She sent them in cute little wooden boxes, but I'd rather them be out somewhere where I could use them or see them a lot. I'd love to make jewelry out of them, but I'm afraid of cracking the shells by putting holes in them for the string and stuff. Any ideas?

Lemur Goodness!
Apr. 14th, 2004 10:46 amPosted to my LJ and
furartxchange, as well as
alucinortela.
I finally had a chance to participate in the most recent FAX round, where
lemurkat was the winner, huzzah!
I wanted to make something special for Kat, and many hours of sculpting, baking, painting, and mild frustrations later, here is the finished creation:
A lemur and her roach!

( Larger Images For Details Back Here )
It was rather difficult to take pictures, as the piece is so large. It's a hanging dangle. It is suspended by woven and beaded wire. Kat and Chitter themselves are polymer clay. I painted them, and then adorned Kat with some very soft velvet cloth. After I secured them in the wire frame, I draped a ribbon over it.
I'm rather pleased with it.

Summery Hippie Style Apron Dress
Apr. 14th, 2004 01:50 pmSo this was really just a prototype to see if the one in the fabric that I actually planned on using would work out... I ended up liking this fabric more.

I'm still receiving donations from what I mentioned in a previous post, and now I'm curious if anyone owns any patterns for animals they'd be willing to donate. I have what the internet has to offer for patterns, but sometimes a free pattern doesn't do justice to actually having the source in front of you. I shouldn't have to say that it's for a good cause ( Crafting for a Cause ) , as I'm sure you're very well aware... and the people who have been generous enough to donate yarn, money, and supplies have been so wonderful.
I want to try and eventually get some photos up of the donations and what I'll be making with them to give the children and adults, but for the next 3 weeks college pretty much owns most of my time.
The call for donations is still open, and I'll accept whatever you're willing to graciously give...

Apr. 14th, 2004 06:40 pmHas anyone ever heard of a liquid, and it's like fabric paint or something, and you either dunk fabric in, or spray or paint it on or something, and it makes the fabric more "matte" (ie, if you had a shimmer/sparkle fabric, it would make it 50% leff sparkly by covering it up) I've heard of something like this, but I have no idea where to look for it.
Does anyone know what I'm talking about?
I'd need enough that I get get it by the end of next week, and it would be enough to cover 3 body suits. (it's for the costumes for a play)
