I looked through the FAQ and didn't see anything about how to make a rag rug. I remember seeing it posted awhile back but couldn't find it :\ You know, the kind you make out of old t-shirts and what have you ??

Thanks for any help !! :)

I don't know WHAT my deal is but for some reason I can't successfully make those little paper stars
I followed the tutorial at chupette.net
and I THINK I'm getting the folding correct
but when I go to pinch the sides and make it star-like it just dents all in and I can't even get all the sides to pinch

is there anyone that can offer some help..I'm about to explode

thanks

One of my lj friends, [livejournal.com profile] sankuri, asked me to write up a tutorial of how I did my memory boards. I had written in my livejournal about them, and she wants to make one for herself. So, since I have this tutorial written already, I figured I'd go ahead and post it here, just in case.

Admins - If you want to add this to the memories, go ahead - the only thing that'll ever change is lack of pictures other then a quick computer drawing, and I'll come back and update this entry if I add pictures.

Does anyone know what these are called?

I think they are made out of fleece and they have a perfect tiny seam down the sides. The center is the size of a quarter, with the four petal shapes extending outward.
I bought them at a craft sale with donated items, so unfortunately the person that donated them was not there, and the volunteers had no idea what they were called. There was a sample of how to put the pieces together to make a larger flower-like shape and I thought I understood it, but when I got home I couldn't figure out how to produce the same effect.
Here's what I did make with them )
If anyone knows what this craft is called or of any websites with instructions it would be much appreciated!

My first sewing project! I made a pattern, and used a basic backstitch. I know a toddler could do a better job if given the chance , haha. Hopefully I'll get better at it in time for christmas!!

there's an 80's night in the local club thingy next Saturday night. basically, there'll just be a few people pretending to be artists from the 80's and singing/dancing...heh.

i wanna dress up though...but am not entirely sure where to start! does anyone have any ideas / photos they can post? either o themsleves if they've dressed up all 80's, or of actual people from the 80's?

all help is very much appreciated! :D

ah the sweet smell of lighter fluid.

does anyone know how ....when transferring images with lighter fluid..to get it to adhere? and if it works with wood. maybe thats my problem. maybe it won't stick to wood.

I Made A Dream Catcher )

Isn't it pretty.
It is made of blue glow in the dark lanyard.
The bottom tassels have glow in the dark pony beads and
holographic oragami stars.
I finished it off with a star in the middle
It was odd how I made it
I was almost asleep, and then I had
some kind of odd epiphany.
All of a sudden I just knew
how to make a dream catcher.
I had never seen somebody make a dream catcher in my life.
I had seen actual dream catchers though.
It was one of the oddest moments of my life.
So despite how tired I was,
I made it.
There it is for you to see.

Hmmm I started making baby bracelets a couple weeks ago. It's really a pain in the butt. heh. Mostly keeping the length 4 1/2 inches with the clasp and yeah.

And also, this I made a long time ago, but I thought I'd share it. It's a mobile I made out of driftwood and seashells. Held together with hemp twine, and a feather added...
(and you can kind of see the pretty view I have from my front porch...)

I just recently realized that I really don't like the clothes they sell in stores. I always find myself thinking I would like a garment so much better If it was a different color, print, or if the style was only slightly altered. I decided to try my hand at sewing something. I learned the basics of sewing as soon as my mom trusted me with a needle, but since then I haven't practiced much at all, and never advanced beyond a simple pillow. I decided to alter a pair of old jeans(a pair I didn't like much, in case i screwed up big time) into a skirt. Now keep in mind, I don't have a working sewing machine...

And no, this isn't a long involved plan to get everyone to check out my butt. )

HI girls,

I'm looking for places to buy small plastic charm like things, the kind of things that would be suitable for earrings (kinda barbie/sindy shoe size and style) anyone know where I could find any? Ebay hasn't helped me much, but if anyone knows of any auctions on there let me know :)

Mini Can )

no suggestion is dumb! (my ideas have been windchime and minitable, which were mentally shot down before the thoughts were fully processed)

so help, cause y'all are crafty! (i would have posted this in the whatshouldido community, but i think its mostly teeshirts and those tshirt surgery girls would eat me alive)

thanks!

I've been hoping to decorate a toilet lid to go with the 60s pulp fiction theme I've got going in my bathroom. I was thinking of putting some paper images on it and putting a few layers acrylic spray over it to seal it. Two questions for you:

1. Has anyone ever done something like this before, and if so, do you have any hints to share?

2. If acrylic spray is indeed the way to go on this project, can you recommend a particular brand? It needs to be waterproof (obviously!) and fairly durable stuff that won't chip horribly.

Thanks :)

These projects are a few weeks old but I never got around to photographing them. Both were sewing projects thrown together for the heck of it, so the quality might not be that best, but the colors sure are...
