while playing phase 10 tonight with my family, I came to the ephiphany that crafty people would probably be better at cards because we never underestimate cards (being packrats and such) and don't question picking up new cards to try and make runs, etc.

anyone else see this connection?

so i had posted about these: http://www.chatstrap.com
and i made one today. i'm at home, not in my dorm, for the weekend, so pics will come soon.

anyway, i took black elastic (like 1.25 inches wide)and made an X...or a t shapes out of it to fit around my flip phone. i sewed them then to a pretty ribbon band to go around my wrist. i attached the ends of this ribbon (first with a button, ripped it out. then with snaps. ripped them out.) with a small piece of black elastic to make it fit snuggly. i also then sewed 2 small pieces of the ribbon on bottom corners of the phone on a diagnal from the bottom of the phone to the flower band

.-------[ top of phone ]-------
.-------[.......................]-------
......\ \[bottom of phone]/ /......

then i sewed a pink flower patch onto the top. it's "stupid" as my brother likes to tell me. but when i go to shows and whatnot, i'd rather stick a few bucks into my pocket and not have to worry about stuff - so now i don't need my purse just cause i need my phone.

pics will come, but i just wanted to let you all know i did it.
...if that made ANY sense...

*of course i checked the FAQS*

i've been making those dangle earrings that are so popular lately, but i cant seem to keep them together because the jump rings keep coming off of the chains. i guess i'm not closing them tight enough? so how can i do that with out squashing the ring? should the ends over lap rather than just meet? i'll post pictures of my creations after i'm confident that they won't fall apart!

After shopping at the mall last night and spying some beaded bracelets I thought were *really* cute and seeing that they were just glass beads on Stretch Magic Cord I dragged my husband to the craft store in search of my own beads and such. :) I just wanted to share the results. :)

Now I'm hooked. I can't wait to make more! :) I think I'm gonna check out places to buy glass beads on the internet. I need to look through the FAQ's, but any suggestions would be great. :) Thanks for looking! :)

Hi everybody, I'm Akki and I've been lingering in the shadows of craftgrrl for months now, and finally joined livejournal. I just got a new computer so I have to find my old digital camera software and put it in the cpu before I can post anything. But you girls (and guys) are amazing! I have been so inspired by you all!

Hello! I just joined this morning and while looking through the FAQ/Memories page and upon reading the post about the record bowls, I remembered this bowl from Crib Crashers.

Materials Needed:
Roll of tickets-$4.12 at Office Depot
Glue
Polyacrylic

I have the glue and polyacrylic at home so I would only need to buy the tickets. Sorry if this has been on here before though.

Just a quick scrapbook-related question...

My friend gave me a ton of construction paper, but I am not sure if it is acid-free or not. If it isn't, would using it for matting and cut outs and whatnot affect the photos? I know that using adhesive that isn't acid-free will damage the page/photos, but i wasn't sure what exactly the paper would do. Thanks in advance to anyone that can help!

thanks!

WATCH OUT!

Banana Tornado coming your way!
As a balance to the pretty, smooth, even yarns I've been spinning I made some fun, lumpy stuff.
Back to spinning!

So this is a boring text post :(
Where on earth can you get corks? Apparently finding them is a simple task, but I've proved otherwise.
Thanks, Spoon O==

Okay, kind of a weird question, but what can I do with cut human hair?

It's not long enough to braid together and use as string for jewellery, and it's dyed anyway, so i couldn't donate it.

The hair has....sentemental(?) value, I guess you could say, and I'd like to use some of it in some kind of art or craft of some sort.

Any suggestions?

It's varying shades of red and brown, between 3 and 8 inches long.
Oh, and there's one dread in it too, 6 inches long.

I am looking for a source for metal tins - specifically for candles, lip
balms and stuff like that. I ran through the faqs but didn't see anything.

I am getting back into selling my soaps and lotions and my source for such
things was local and went out of business. I'd be okay with other sources
for packaging in general other than tin as well, but tins would definitely
be my first choice.

Any help you can give -- especially if they sell wholesale -- would be
greatly appreciated

I made this shirt, left the neckline unfinished just like in that picture, mother washed it in the machine and it's bagged and stretched and gone to shit. Angry. I think it's because it should've been handwashed, mother insists it's because of the unfinished seams.

I have bought many shirts from stores with unfinished edges, which have not become shitty in this manner. Whyyyy? :(

It's 10:05 PM on a Sunday night. I'm sitting at my boyfriend's house when his sister arrives home to proclaim, "Alex (her 9 year old son) needs a raccoon costume for school tomorrow." Off to the garage I go in search of his grandma's old yarn stash. It took only 40 minutes to get this all together...I think it will work pretty well for a 3rd grade play.

Not as bad as it could've been. )
