I'd hate to have a question for my first post, but oh well.

I was talking to some friends about ideas for making earrings out of random/weird objects and one suggested cereal such as cheerios. Does anyone know of something that would maybe work as a sealer?

Wow girls, it's been awhile! Some of you may remember I was diligently trying to make that tatted doily to enter in the state fair. Well, I finished it yesterday.

I'm taking it to the fairgrounds to register it in a couple days, and then I'm going to the fair on the 27th (it starts on the 26th). Hopefully I'll have a better picture after all the hubub!

I've already started the next doily. :)

You'd think that living in Albuquerque, NM - home of the International Balloon Fiesta - I would know something like this...

Does anyone know where I could find old and/or retired hot air balloons? I had an idea to make some camping equipment and outdoorsy gear out of one.

Here is a fleecy lion I just finished making for my hubby. He loves lions and begged me to make this...he even went to Joann fabric and picked out what he wanted for fabric.

I got inspired by the travel journals i saw at Barnes and Noble for $20. i bought a plain marble notebook for 79 cents, and got a map of NY State. i used tea to "age" the map, and mod-podged it on top of the notebook. i made the label out of a cut up manilla folder, and used spray adheisive to attach itto the front. on the inside covers, i attached the map pieces with spray adheisive. the pics don't really do it justice, it looks much better in real life, hehe.

I love making crafts and the one person who tends to get all the crafts I make is my boyfriend.
Someone had posted this link a while back so I thought it was an excellent idea. One day at work I decided to make it but didn't have envelopes so all the envelopes are homemade.
on to the pics )
I gave him the gift at HEB while we were in line to pay for a bill. He loved it and gave me a big hug after he read it all.

Ok, so my daughters ball pit has a hole and no longer usable. What can I do with 5 boxes of those darn balls?

It seems like now I'm addicted to making low quality crafty type things.

behold, pictures behind the cut. ^_^ )

I whipped out the drop spindle today and decided to give spinning a try since I Kool-Aid dyed a bunch of fiber last night!

This is technically my second spin, since I spun a couple yards of mystery fiber before I spun this!

Here she is!! )

Its about 21 yards. I love spinning.. it was very enjoyable. It's kind of funny, I was always one to go crazy over thick/thin style yarns, but now that I have tried spinning I want to spin fine thin even yarns. =) Its really an art, I have so much respect for people who do it well! I can't wait to learn more!

i haven't slept in about 2 days because i've been working on crafty things and once i start, i just can't stop.
but now i need help.
i have a problem with a skirt i'm making. i made a plain black A-line skirt and wanted to add tulle (i have both black and light pink) to the bottom. i've tried doing it in all kinds of ways (just sewing a strip of straight tulle, making ruffles out of it and sewing it, etc.) but it always ends up looking like i'm wearing a wedding cake or something like that. does anyone here have ideas what i could do with the tulle to make the skirt more interesting and pretty but not too.. puffy? i really need the skirt for friday and i'm out of ideas :(

&here's a bag i made today. )

this is an accordian scrapbook i made for my summer pictures. it's two pieces of 5x7 mat board with several pieces of folded cardstock for the pages (smaller than 5x7 but larger than 4x6). i adore it (and i'm glad, as a new member, to have a place to share it and to get great ideas)! Sorry the pictures are a little blurry/not high quality, for the only digital camara i can get my hands on is the family camcorder!
let the fun begin... )

I made a necklace and tried to crochet a bracelet with stainless steel wire and glass cats eye beads.  The necklace turned out good...the bracelet has some issues.  I may need to frog it and start over and get a new clasp.  I hate the clasp.  I can't find any bracelet clasps I like.  I also need some bigger, nicer crimping beads.  What do you guys use?

I'm watching Simple Life on DVD, and around the beginning of episode one, when Paris and Nicole are on their plane leaving their life behind, Paris is snuggled under this pink & white crocheted blanket. I tried to take photos with the digital camera, but it's difficult since it's a photo from TV..

Anyway, it looks like it's a ripple pattern, with some other design around it. It's hard to see, ;_; but I like this blanket and I was wondering if anyone knew of any similar patterns (or if there is a pattern out for this blanket?)..

+3 photos )

Thanks! :)

ladies (and occasional gents)->

I am in yet another predicament.
So I have a lot of magazines, like most girls, and I go on sprees in which I gut them for all there good pictures, quotes, and colors, leaving me with a massive pile of cute cut outs that I don’t know what to do with. I’ve modged podged the onto canvases, shoe boxes, frames.. pinned the really good ones to the wall to make a massive collage, but I still have a lot left. any ideas? anything? even a comment saying ‘wow, well.. sucks for you’ is appreciated as opposed to nothing …maybe I should just stop the spree’s. oh man. what to do! thanks loves.

bernat softee baby in baby pink and caron simply soft in soft pink together throughout.

all half double crochet stitches and VERY loosely based on a slipper pattern i found in my stash - said pattern was abandoned pretty much after the third row though. but after oodles of free styling and frogging im pretty pleased with the result. and oh so soft! now i just need to figure out a crochet tutu.

I am thinking about trying to dye some yarn I was given recently. It's 100% wool, and so I want to try using KoolAid, or rather closest I can get since they don't sell it here. So, since I can't be sure the dye is acidic, I will add some vinegar just to be sure it sets. But do you think I can use "apple cider vinegar" or does it have to be regular vinegar? I'm asking since I'm short on cash and "inherited" a bottle of this when my flatmate moved out. If it can be used, this will be an inexpensive experiment...

Thanks in advance for any help!

This is what I did this weekend:

I realized I didn't have a uber-toasty blanket for when it gets really cold, so I took two of the fleecy blankets my mom keeps giving me and sewed them together.

Wolvies and Moosies oh my... )

AND....
I finally made the Queen of the Grill T-shirt.

What you think looks like this:

Really looks like THIS )
[identity profile] feline.livejournal.com
Yeah, I post here all to often. I have no life and spend all my time with yarn and the like.

So I worked on my altered book some today and I also made some bookmarks for it. Their tassels are held on with decorative paperclips that have little images on them. I think they are quite cute. Next I have to find the exacto set so I can complete my altered book.

I also finished off the hardware on the Drag Queen purse. Yes, it is covered in men seeking men personal ads and the "women" on it are actually TS "ladies of the night" that advertise. It's actually sexually explicit and not in a tasteful manner. It has a few 3-D details like a few flowers and some metal purse charms. It's fun.

I think I decoupage too much. (500k of images) )

ok... so I made some quickie felt flowers and hot glued them together instead of sewing them. Then, I pinned one on my favourite shirt and gayly wore it about town. Then I washed the shirt. Then I dried it in the dryer. Then I folded it. THEN I realized that my now crumpled felt flower was stuck to my favourite T-shirt!!!

How do I get it off???

Any tips on removing hot glue? Please help me, oh brilliant craftgrrls! Will drycleaning work? Any other tips? This is my favourite t-shirt so I don't want to take any crazy risks that would ruin it. It's bearable with the flower stuck to it, but I'd just be so much happier if the flower (and glue!) was off!
