hello all, i'm new, and making my first post.

i just very recently caught the crafting bug, and this was my first spur-of-the-moment, sewing-disaster creation. its a bag made out of a tshirt that i've never worn, very tote-like, very simple.

the bag )

my problem is, what to use for straps?
i know that if i use another t-shirt-type material, it would probably stretch out, right?
so, some thick ribbon (maybe polka-dots?), orrrr, some kind of nylon? i dont know!

help me out here, lovelies.

[x-posted, probably]

Hey y'all. Newbie here and I need help.
I've been searching the internet for hours trying to find a pattern for a crochet bikini top that would tie around or behind the neck. I didn't find one that I liked but I'm trying to come up with a pattern. The thing is, I have no idea what the hell I'm doing here. Should I try and do this with a 5mm hook or should I go smaller?

Are there crafting-supply trading communities on LJ?

I want to trade a huge bag of vintage and new buttons for some beading supplies.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Title: Coasters for Kiki
Inspiration: http://www.upliftingarts.com/create/coasters.htm
Reason: Kiki's birthday (8/30) - with new furniture in a new house she needed some coasters!
Comments: I had some left over blues (her favorite color) from some quilting projects so I was excited to finally have a use for them. I was debating on whether or not to "quilt" them with a stitched design on top of the color blocking. I tried it out and I didn't like it at all - it competed with the color blocking too much. So the down side is this: if/when she washes them, they will most likely get a little distorted, but they should flatten out pretty quick with a full beverage. This project was fast and easy...hopefully she'll approve of them.
Coasters for Kiki!

help?

hello, all,

I need to figure out where to get clock parts--the battery and the hands, preferably connected--in order to make record clocks.

Here are the caveats:

I need about 500.
I need to have them by 9/21/04.
They need to be very cheap.

I work for a university coordinating late-night arts (and crafts) activities. If anyone has any ideas of places online to order from--or if there's anyone in Minnesota who knows a 'real' place--please let me know asap.

Sorry for the text post. Thanks for whatever information you have.

This is my first post..

I have an old comforter that i was hoping to turn into a dog/puppy bed and i was hoping maybe anyone would have some suggestions for a pattern or maybe just any direction for me?
Thanks for any help

For the current issue of Mosaic Minds' Slapdash column I wrote up a how-to article on making a bracelet from washers. It's cool, and power tools are involved! Fun!! haha

this is not the make or model of my machine...sheer example only

I don't know where/how she found it, but my dog managed to eat 'that thing' and now thread will not stay on the spool pin. I've looked to replace it at Hancock Fabrics JoAnn Fabrics and Michaels...to no avail. It makes it harder that I don't know what it's called...I get strange stares. I thought I'd take a look around online...but the same frustration of not knowing what it's called. My machine is a singer featherweight, 1991..? I've been using tape, rubberbands, cardboard, etc to hold the thread on there...but it's just not the same. Any help would be so greatly appreciated :)!! THANK YOU!!!!

EDIT: It's called a SPOOL HOLDER. THANKS!!!!!!

sorry, x-posted entry to [livejournal.com profile] sew_hip & my journal

look more necklaces! I made these out of a mixture of plastic, glass, clay and wire! The scanner does no justice to the metallic colors. Which makes me sad :(!

Oh well..Hope you all enjoy. Tell me what you think.

My niece is a freshman this year, so I decided to make her a little going away present, something she could keep in the dorm. What could be more perfect than a hollow book to stash secret stuff inside?

So here's the pineapple hat.
I think it is hilarious. It was a bit of a pain to crochet each triangle on, but not as bad as I thought it would be.
Don't mind my face, I was laughing when my mom snapped it.
I am pleased with it.
On To The Pictures )
In my mind, that is what a pineapple hat would look like.
Anyways, I apologize to those on my list who will see this more than once.
Next up...either cherries, banana's or watermelon. I have to get more yarn though.

glitter?

Ok, I'm making a shirt that says Carbs Rock, and I freehanded the letters with fabric marker. I've decided I'm not that fond of the fabric marker and want to outline or completely cover the letters with glitter. How do I go about this without the glitter coming off everytime I move or in the washing machine? Thanks in advance.
[identity profile] skwairpeg.livejournal.com
I KNOW that somewhere in the FAQ there are instructions for re-sizing a big man-sized t-shirt to a girlier size. I KNOW it's in there! (or at least, I'm pretty sure this is where I saw it!) I've used it before myself. But now I can't find it. Can anyone help?

i am looking for a reliable and inexpensive supplier for 1 inch button parts (not badge-a-minit) that will ship to canada. i have tried the ebay route, but those sellers only ship to the u.s.

can anyone point me in the right direction? i am wary of online businesses, but will try out one that has a good reputation.

please help?

Does anyone have a link to a site that has instructions for a wall of touch lamps mounted on a silver board? Searched the memories and can't find it. I know its out there somewhere!
