A question post. Sorry.
I'll take some lovely pictures of my wares tomorrow.

During my trip to New York a week ago, I visited this adorable little yarn store/knit cafe called KnitNYC (at 14th and 2nd). I stumbled upon the clearance bin to find this WONDERFUL stretchy yarn for $5 a skein.
I bought a couple balls and after falling in love with it (it's perfect for just about any wearable accessory you can think of!), I can't find it anywhere else. Except for one little ol' ebay auction. While I plan to buy a few skeins of it, I would love some more colors.

It's called Jaeger Stretch (as shown in the picture) and if anyone knows where I can find some, I WOULD LOVE YOU FOREVER.

Thanks a lot!

I was at Joann's today picking up materials for a top-secret Christmas present and found the most fantastic fabric ever. It was on close out sale, so I promptly bought a bunch.

Then, instead of working on gifts for other people, I decided to devote the evening to making a present for myself. I am really happy with how well the fit came out, considering I was just making it up as I went along.

I picked up a book at the library the other day that is just a gem-its aimed at young teens but the ideas are so funky I thought you all would enjoy them. Its called D.I.Y. Girl byjennifer bonnell...they show how to make a skirt out of a vintage pillow case(wouldn't fit my heiny but you youngun's could do it!!),making lip gloss, soaps, candles, the altered T-shirt with gathered sides, felted handbags,etc-just a super cute book.

these are super easy and useful. The cord is waxed linen bookbinding cord. Its light green but it doesn't show up too well in the pic. Directions at: www.beadstudio.com. Look under projects. FYI: I got the beads at wally-mart. They have inexpensive packs of nice beads for $1.88 - YAY.

are any of you attending the book arts fair in a couple weeks? I used to intern at Pyramid, and they've got an excellent paper mill and book shop. I can't afford to attend the panels, but I'm really looking forward to seeing all the new books. :)

My mom has some vintage wallpaper that she wants to make into coasters.
The wallpaper is textured and off-white/cream.
She wants some to look aged and some to look like tin.
I've looked in the memories and done a google search, but I'm not coming up with much.
Other than using black or brown shoe polish to brush the very tops of the texture, what are your suggestions for the "aged" coasters? She thought about using tea to color them, but she's afraid that will activate the glue on the back and warp the paper before she's ready to secure it to her base. I was thinking that we could put a few drops of paint in some mod podge and do the slightly darker base color and the securing in one fell swoop. Afterwards, we'd dry brush some darker colors on and mod podge again. Does that sound right?
Any suggestions on techniques for the "tin"?
I've seen a similar post in craftgrrl, but I can't find it anywhere.

Hey guys. Have any of you seen those little zip-up hoodies with kitty ears on top of the hoods? I think they're really really cute, but I don't know where to buy them, so I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how I could do this myself without it looking terrible? I also have about a yard of this hot pink furry fabric, and I'm dying to make something out of it, but I don't know what. Any ideas? (Besides legwarmers!!:) Thank youuu!

So, I'm a purse making freak. I adore making them so much :)

I made the first two today. I've recently been thinking about selling them online. What do you all think? Would people buy my stuff? (Is asking that against the rules. Please clarify for me, and I'll be happy to edit. :))

Yeah, everything was fixed. I'm an idiot. Sorry. Also, one purse added.

Can you tell I'm in an arts & crafts project where I need to do 5000 square inches of arts & crafts by the end of November? Ok, so I spun yarn for the first time & did 25 yards. I then dyed it. I also did 3 pages in my altered book and took photos of my crazy quilt bits I worked on from the other day.

My favorite pair of jeans has a hole in the butt!! They are stretchy jeans and I was wondering if regular patches will work. I can't walk around with a hole in my pants.

Here's a dress that I finished today. So what if I'm a season too late? :-P The fabric is vintage -- from my grandmother's attic. I think she would have been pleased that I found a use for it. :) On the right is a close-up. Tigers are awesome! I used dark brown satin ribbon for the straps and also used it to trim out the bodice. It's lined in muslin. Now, I just need to wait until it's warm enough to wear it! Hee hee hee...
