Ok, so I've been knitting for awhile now and I've made a few attempts to knit in the round.
I inherited some hand-me-down circular and double pointed needles from my aunt, but I just can't get the hang of it.

Stitch n Bitch has very VAGUE instructions on this, and I can't find any nice little videos anywhere.
Does anyone have any specific instructions involving either?

Also, are double pointed needles easier if they're wooden instead of metal?

First... my 3rd pair of socks!!

Next, a not really complicated project, but it is my first baby sweater:

Now I'm hunting down a classic adult cardigan, I have some yarn that would be perfect and cozy, I just need to find the right pattern!

This is my latest finished project:

Voodoo Bag:

It really was quite a fiber adventure. I used circular needles to knit a large tube, then cast on to make the flap. This was my first attempt at intarsia. I used Lopi yarn, and felted it partially in the washing machine, but it was felting unevenly so I did the rest by hand. The flap turned out the worst--the sides curled in and felted onto themselves, and it somehow turned out narrower than it should have been. The skull looks more like a ghost from a pac man game. I added the fringe and hand felted that, then sewed on the skull beads. It's not quite what I intended, but it still looks pretty cool. I just wish the skull looked more skullish. I think anything I felt in the future I will do by hand--I feel I have more control over it.

my sister and i both ride our bikes around philadelphia. ok, well, she rides her bike around philadelphia, i take my to school or to the bar. but let's not stray from the subject...anyway, we've discovered that lots of philly bikers have real hip messenger bags with all these appliques of hearts and wings on them. so we go, "what ev. we can totally do that 1000 times better." so we did. armenian sister style.

Hi!

I've been pouring candles into my ceramic pieces for awhile, but now I've begun to make ceramic molds. What household product can i coat the inside of my molds with so that the wax will come unstuck? Vaseline?

Hello! I'm a first time poster in desperate need of suggestions: I bought about a dozen chinese take-out boxes that look identical to these (including the same stamp and size). I really dig them, but unfortunately I have no idea what to do with them. I figured something would eventually come to me when I brought them home, but no. Help?

Does anyone else have any trouble with seam allowances? It seems that every time I try to make something, and it tells me "leave such-and-such room for the seams," (I think most patterns I've read say 1/4 of an inch?) I screw it up.

And just what is a quarter of an inch seam on your sewing machine? When I try to sew things and try to use a given seam allowance, I always end up getting too close to the edge and then my sewing machine won't feed the fabric through...usually I just put the edge of my fabric on one of the lines and follow it, and didn't know if there was an easier way to follow the patterns besides just adding extra fabric for my allowances.

I have this glass tube from a cigar I had with my boss and co-worker earlier today. Its long (probably about 6-8 inches) and thin, and kinda looks like those science tubes (I've been out of school for 2.5 years now and can't remember the name of them...)

Is there anything cool I can do with it? It has a sort of cap at the end of it, so I can put something in it, but I don't have any use for it that way yet (I don't do any beadwork, so no use for storing beads in it).

Okay, Im sure you guys have seen enough felt flowers to last a life time but this is all I have to share till I finish knitting my scarf! Anyways, I stumbled across a whole buncha beads at an estate type sale ( a nursing home, I'm assumign the old women died, mom had to go, though I felt somewhat strange going through her things like that..there was still garbage in the trash can) ANYWAYS, we bought the box for $2 bucks and I got a whole bunch of pony beads, random beads and some cool pearl type beads. I kept trying to figure out what to do with the pearls cause I really liked them sooo..I thought why not felt flowers? You should click!

I just realized how horrible all these pics are..but I'm sure you get the idea.. :)

So, I did a little yarn shopping, and I got some Lily "Sugar'n'Cream" cotton yarn. It was my first time with cotton. It's amazing. Let's just say my electronics will never be cold again.
My iPod is so happy right now )

I snatched the last diamond-tip bit (literally, some guy was after it, too) at the local Home Depot (even though I don't like them anymore, for political reasons...)
- BUT they were unable to help me regarding the goo/paste I've read should be used when drilling glass. Everybody I asked there said it'd be good, as long as I use the right bit. Which contradicts everything I've read on the matter!
The glass I'm pereforating has some decoration I *think* will go away if I use water. (I'll glaze it later.)
I've never drilled glass before, and would very much appreciate any input!

Here are some more earrings and a charm bracelet (in progress). I think tomorrow I will break out the Sculpey and start making beads and charms.

Pictures )

I don't know what I am going to do with these earrings. I cannot wear earrings to work. Christmas gifts, maybe? Later!

My husband is in the military and he shot off his first 44 mangnum.

As the good sweet military wife I am, I wanted to make a necklace for him out of the first shell from this.

How would I drill a hole through a bullet shell of a 44 mag? o_o

I am an odd military wife.
