I was going through Michaels today and found leather cords that I needed to fix one of my necklaces. Then I saw one of those DIY packages that came with beads and all, diagrams and instructions to make your own version of whatever they have. One of them was this leather barbed wire bracelet which I absolutely loved. I've been trying to search on the net for instructions but can't find any. I've found some pictures of made ones on the 'net but I can't figure out how to do it.

Anyone have any idea?
Thanks SO much.

Hi everyone! I'm new but I've been lurking around for awhile. I have recently come upon 3 full grocery bags of paint samples - they are on paper (not the wood chip kind) and there are many different shapes and sizes and really fantastic colors.

I've seen people silkscreen them and turn them into business cards, but I guess I'm looking for more ideas. I'm sure that *something creative can be done with them, but what?

Help?

Thanks!

Hi, I just joined this community. I swear I saw a tutorial for this purse somewhere but I can't seem to find it again anywhere. My mum just gave me a sewing machine and I want to make this but I am not sure how. Has anyone seen a pattern online for it?

Here is a link to it. Thanks!

Hi, all! I've been reading this community forever, but I never get around to taking pics of my assorted crafty disasters projects. I should try to remedy that -- I'm making a ton of holiday presents, and I'll try to share photos when they're done. It was my intention to be finished with most of them already, but writing for NaNoWriMo took up most of my time and creativity this month.

In the meantime, just to have something shiny and pretty to look at in this post, I'm including photos of a few of my customized My Little Ponies. I think customizing counts as a craft. ^_^ Clicky -- seven images. )

And after all that, I have a completely unrelated question. I need some plain Shrinky Dink pages. Where would I look for those in a JoAnn's/Michael's/etc? What section are they kept in? I'm drawing a blank.

Does anyone know how you can decorativly string pinecones? I have a pine tree in the back yard so I have a ton of pinecones. I want to paint them silver and gold and use them to decorate my front door but I am clueless as to what to do with them or what to put them with.
Any ideas are welcome.

Does anyone here know about this vintage machine? It doesn't have a model name, but it is olive green, has an external motor, and comes with a plastic case.

I have figured out how to thread the machine, and it is sewing fine.

The problem is winding a new bobbin. When you open the top right portion of the lid, there is a little bobbin arm that folds out. It has a wheel that locks against the armature. Apparently, it is seized up. I have put penetrating oil in and around the mechanism in hopes to get it moving again, but I wonder if there is some button/knob/lever that allows for bobbin winding. Just disconnecting the needle from the armature did not do the trick.

Any ideas?

I did check the FAQ, but found nothing on this brand.

After my show this weekend I decided to invest a bit of the money on some more classy display stuff. I ended up buying a couple 4 in. nutcrackers at walmart for .97 cents each..thinking they'd add some holiday cheer to my tables. Well, I bring them home only to realize they are place card holders, but perfect to hold some business cards! I know people were looking for interesting business card holders, this might work for the holiday season.

And onto my question: I'm wondering if anyone could direct me to classy ornament tops. You know the caps/hooks on glass ball ornaments that are pretty standard and chinzy? Well, I have an artist friend looking for more elegant ones to replace the standards on her handpainted ornaments. I've googled and have no idea what to look for! Any leads appreciated, thanks :)

I'm not sure if this is allowed or not...but I recently made a skirt for someone, they asked me to do it. Now, the fabric wasn't too expensive (about 3 dollars a yd, i used 1.5 yds) But it took a while to make because of what it is. I'd take a picture, but it looks like #%3135135 when its not on someone, and its a little too big for me...no ones here to help me take a picture either, lol it looks like this though kind of

now if this is allowed (which I hope it is) how much would you pay for a skirt like that? if it sewn with extreme neatness? :P very straight lines, and stuff. i did a really good job on this...lol

Hey guys, I've decided to do a mail art project! That means that you guys can help me.
Basically, I'd like to send you a playing card and a poem. You'll all get a different playing card but the same poem, and it's up to you to read the poem and collage/sketch/recreate the playing card to your take on the poem or how the poem makes you feel (did that make sense), you could also try and link the poem to the card you get by songs/films/books. It'd be great if you wrote a little about how and why you've decorated your playing card that way, or even did some smaller images to go with your card.
I'll pay the postage to send the card to you, but i'd like you to send it back to me (if you're in the UK I'll provide a 2nd class stamp with the card)

This is an opportunity to flex your creative muscles and be part of something a little different and fun! When I get all the playing cards and other material in I'll be creating a book of them, with your names against your card. If I get enough interest I might reproduce these books and send them on to those who took part! I will of course post pictures of all the cards on the internet for all those involved (and not involved) to take a look at.

You can either choose your card or be picked one at random...
And no, not going to tell you the poem until you get it in the post ;)

cards available )

If you are interested please comment here or drop me an email at exploitedfairy@gmail.com

for any of you who have made marble magnets and sold them, how much did you sell them for? did people buy them at that price? i'm selling some in a craft boutique this weekend and i don't know how much to charge. i will mainly be selling sets of 6 or 8 in tins, and also am selling the bigger sized ones. any opinions on how much to charge? thanks for your input!

I was thinking making soap for all my friends was a good idea. Regardless of gender, everyone needs to wash themselves...every so often. So I went online and am currently buying supplies and whatnot.
But now I'm stuck because I have no idea how my male friends would react to certain fragrances as being "too feminine." Even though it pains me to separate my gifts due to gender, I'd like find a scent/scents that men/people in general would love.
So, any good fragances for soap that:
1. women like
2. men like
or
3. all people like?

Woo.

Ok, here's the idea.....
1 large strip of dark green/black polar fleece for the seaweed wrapper.
2 large circles of white polar fleece to be the rice.
2 smaller pink patches for the samon (or any other patches of fleece for the other pieces in it)

Sew the patches to the white circles in the appropate places.
Sew the ends of the strip together to make a loop of dk green/black fleece.
Turn the circle over, and sew the edge of the dark green/black fleece all the way around the edge of the white circle so the seam will be on the inside. Sew the other circle on the other edge, leaving a tiny hole to turn the pillow right side out.
Stuff.

Throw on the couch. =)

I bought this snowflake ornament kit from Michaels. It was only like $6 and they are really cute. I'm going to Wisonsin for Christmas and I'm giving every family in my family a snowflake for their tree. Well, I only made one of them soo far. Here's my Read more... ) of it. It's kinda crappy, but oh well. If you like it and you want the directions, just let me know and I can just scan them for you. I'm pritty sure if you're into beading, you'll have all the beads for it. It's really really easy.

i think someone posted about this a while ago, but i can't find the post (or maybe i imagined it lol), but what would be the best way to go about making socks/legwarmers like these:

(girl on the left)

i know how to crochet, and my knitting is fairly basic (i'm working on a scarf and it's turning out good, but i've never worked in the round yet). i saw legwarmers on sale at old navy (although they are not as baggy/loose as these), and thought "oh, these are coming back as well?" but then i saw a girl wearing the baggier ones on the way to class and they are cute, but moreso -- they look warm, so i was wondering if anyone had a pattern (or, know where to buy them for cheap)?

thanks :)

ok, I work on cruise ships, and thankfully i have christmas off!!! That doesn't happen alot in shiplife. However next weekend i'm going to cruise on a ship, as a pax!!!! Never before have I been a passenger, anyway I have like 5 friends who are on this particular ship, and they will all be missing christmas. On a ship, christmas is just another 10 hour day :(. So I've checked the archives for help and i wanted some fresh ideas. I want to make them each a stocking with stuff in it...so far I'm going to make marble magnets(all walls on cruise ships are metal and we're not allowed to use tape in our rooms), I want to get a sache of hot coco, and a holiday lottery ticket for the state that they're ported in. besides the magnets and making the stocking, that is about the extent of my crafts, any ideas would be welcomed. Thanks so much!
