I am nearing the end of my degree in photography, and as this time quickly approaches a need for professional portfolios arises. I want to do something creative, to show the creativity in my work. I looked at the book binding in the memories, but ideally the pages would be interchangeable so it could be updated/profiled.

I have a friend that is a metal fabricator, so I have thought about getting two big pieces of aluminum and have my name and logo cut out of the front, then cutting holes down the side and running several binder rings through it so that the pages would be easily changed.

On this same note, I could do the same thing with plexi that has my name etched into it, but that would quickly scratch when being passed from studio to studio and being abused.

So what I want to know, is if any of you have any ideas or have seen any cool portfolios that you could advise me towards. Or if you have a better method of going about what I have already been mulling over. Thank you for any help you can offer!

What would would I add to my laundry if I wanted to dispell odors? Is it wool safe? I am washing a vintage blue wool blazer and am afraid of hurting it, so I thought I'd ask first.

i'm a design student and am trying to find the perfect fabrics for my mid-semester project. only problem is, there is only ONE fabric store in tallahassee! that would be joann's, which currently only carries about five colors of knit fabric. i've searched online, and can't seem to find much of a selection anywhere!

anybody know of good places to buy knits online?

thank you thank you thank you!!

Some time ago one of the sponsors of craftster.org was a website that sold beautiful knitting stitch markers with chinese ceramic lucky cats and bunnies and other animals.
Does anybody remember that website? I can't find it anymore.
Thank you very very much!

So I've gotten into painting my own pottery and I've found it can be really relaxing for me.

My recent pieces )

I was wondering if anyone here knows of a place you can go online to buy unglazed pieces of pottery. I have some ideas I want to do, but the place I go doesn't have a good selection of pieces. Thanks!

Alright, here's the deal:

at my school I am a member of the student planning committee for first year students. Each year as a bonding activity, we do a "secret OPEC" activity in which we have a member of the committee that's a secret and we can do little things for if we like... but the most important is an insert for the binders that we use.... (you know, the three ring kinds with the clear overthing you can slip a 8 & 1/2 by 11 sheet of paper in there...

Here's the tricky part: I got my best friend and roommate.

since I already have tricked him into having NO CLUE that I have him, I want to do something super extraordinary as opposed to your typical collage... and THAT is what I need help with

Sorry for the text only guys. I'll have pictures soon, promise.

:)

Hi Everyone!
I'm Lindsay, A craftgrrl n00b (aka THIS IS MY FIRST PICTURE POST EVURRRR)

I've been making earrings for while and sell them in a shop in my little town of Halifax, Nova Scotia. They're all made of entirely found, thrifted and recycled items. I'd love to get an idea of what you guys think. I can use comments, criticism, or anything else you guys have to offer!

Here are just a couple pairs:

So after having my drop spindle for a long time, i think i finally figured out how to use it. WEll, I don't think i did it exactly how they did it on the videos, but it looks like yarn so i'm happy with it. Now i have this tiny bit of yarn that I have no idea what to do with. Any suggestions?
Here's a picture of my pretty yarn that's all different sizes.

I'm making a efw shirts for my boyfriend for V-day and for our one year anniv. (feb 15th). I really would like to stencil the images onto the shirt, but I haven't the time, patience, or ability with scissors.

That said, do any of you guys know of any kind of iron on things for shirts that DON'T suck. The ones I've used peel really badly and don't wash well. I know the images won't last forever, but does anyone have any really good suggestions?

After doing the iron transfer, is there some kind of clear paint i could put over it to make it stay on better, as well?

Thanks for your help. I'm going to have a huge pic post soon! I've started making catnip toys and selling them them online, so Imma post a bunch of pictures of those and some pics of some little monsters that i sewed the other day. I'm also going to post pics of the shrits, once they're finished.

Well I am soon to try my hand at slipcovers. Any one have any helpful hints?
Here is what I am covering, the fabric I bought is just laying over the top so I could get a good feel for what it is going to look like.

Ladies, I am so proud of my craftboyyy that I wanted to post this card he made me for our anniversary. Notes for the boys out there: a little construction paper and glue can go a long way!

P.S. Daniel is a foot taller than I am... hence, the smallie & tallie comparison.

My mom has decided she wants to make a new afghan, and she's given me the task of finding her a pattern. So, if anyone of you know a pattern that involves most of the things I mention, please share it, or direct me to the link. Thanks in advance!

She would like the pattern to be:
- Made with an I hook (Just nothing huge like N or Q)
- Made with a solid strand of yarn (No holding 2 strands together throughout)
- A solid afghan (No fancy stiches, pieces you need to sew together, etc)
- Done preferably in double stitch.

So since tomorrow is my mom's birthday, I hope I can at least have a pattern to present to her : ) If you need to email me, feel free to. My address is PurpleLipgloss@gmail.com
