Hello! I think this may be my first post here, but I can't remember. Anyway, I'm looking for some ideas. My aunt was going to get rid of the busted bag she made a long time ago behind the cut but I convinced her to let me have it instead. Now I have no idea why I did that, since I can't figure out how to repair all of it.

help me, please!
Everyone around here seems to be so creative, that you might be able to shed a light on this one..

You see, soon I'll be celebrating my 3rd annivesary with my boyfriend, and unfortunately, I must say that along these three years I pretty much spent every good idea I ever had, from t-shirts to scrapbooks, boxes full of stuff and pseudo-treasure hunts.

I thought of something though, we both loved Syberia (if you never heard of the game, review can be found here and some nice pictures are here), so I was thinking of doing something under the subject if.... mammoths!

Yep, you heard me.
No, I'm not crazy.
Mammoths.

Because there's a part in the game where a little kid has this stuffed mammoth doll... however, I have tried to make little plush-like thingies, and they always end up looking a bit... erm.. weird. Practice makes perfect, but since I already gave him so many stuffed toys, I was trying to think of something else, yet, still related to Syberia, and all it's mammothness.

I was thinking of things, and all I could think about was a picture of a mammoth, and under it something like "fortunately, our love is not extinct", but it was so corny that I soon gave up on that :x

I'm close to giving up and trying a completely different subject. But well, if I managed to pull this off... it would be original, that's for sure.

Soooo.. any suggestions, or do you think I should just drop this idea? ^^;

I made these. there is a resason for the inspiration, but it's long and probably only funny to me. I have NO CLUE what these would be good for. But they crack me up, so I have to share. They have eyes, and tend to look at me whenever I'm in view.

da fishes! )

Each is about 20 inches long. The exterior fabrics is 100% quilting cotton. Interiors are fleece. Everything except where the lining is sewn in was machine stitched, the lining was sewn in by hand; embroidery also by hand. it's not my strong point. More planning would've gone into these if it wasn't a rush job.

lol at the typo on that second pic name. :)

so, yesterday i tried printing from my inkjet onto that shrinky dink plastic - which the directions told me i could do - and everything was pretty okay, the plastic shrank and the images looked good, but my ink never ever dried completely, even after baking. did i do something wrong, or do i just need to be super careful and spray them with sealer after they are done baking??

and thanks to everyone for their help with my jewelry issues yesterday! i spent some time last night working with the headpins and trying to make the wire conform to my will and i think i'm starting to (slowly) get the hang of it.... *fingers crossed*

I'm thinking the next batch of pysanky embedded resin pendants to come will be for necklaces on sterling chains. I really like the look of clear pendants for this, just very elegant with nothing to detract from the eggshell itself.

But then the backside of the shell can be seen. When an egg is dyed, you get seepage to the inside and it's always some various mottled color, sometimes streaks, sometimes spotty..you never know.

Do you think people would LIKE seeing the backside of the shell (to know that it's an actual piece of eggshell), or should I cover the mess with gold paint? Pretty on both front AND back?

Long time, no post! I have been busy with school, but now that school is out, I was able to put something together. This is a bag that I have been working on for the past two days. It took me about 10 hours total. The pictures don't do it justice really. It looks so much better in person, though my friends think that the pictures look fine, so maybe I am just being critical or something. It is a mini messenger style bag, made out of cordury, lined with black linen on the inside, reinforced with standard batting. I designed the patchwork flap myself With 8 different styles of fabric. The strap is a strap that is the same material that comes on backpack straps, that I bought from the fabric store. It is sewn mostly by machine. Where the side pieces connect to the bottom piece are sewn by hand, though, because I couldn't manouver it with the machine, and the strap is sewn on by hand. last time I tried to sew a strap onto a bag, I broke my sewing machine needle. The only defect is at the upper left hand corner of the flap. I ran out of black thread and had to use white and I had to sew that part in a way that the thread was exposed because of the awkwardness of that section. I think I am going to cover over it in black sharpie, though, so it blends in better.

Well, here it is!

I just made this a couple of days ago, and I'm pretty proud of it. I'd been looking for a new wallet but couldn't find a cute, small one that had a pocket for change.. So I made my own from a Craftster tutorial I bookmarked a few months ago. I found the awesome fabric at Walmart. Fabric Wallet! )

I got the idea and measurements from here, but I didn't follow her steps exactly, I just did what was easiest for me. Now that I've got it figured out, I think that I'm going to make some more to sell at my local LadyFest craft sale in a couple of weeks.

Thanks for looking!

Sorry for a text-only post, but does anyone have the link for the monster lap top bag? I looked through the memories, but I didn't see it. Thanks a bunch :o)

Hi all,

My 8-yr old son will be having a pretty interesting summer, taking a big trip with the parents and young uncle (teenager) to 3 different states and then flying to our "home" state with the uncle to visit both sides of my family... The whole trip will take almost 3 weeks and I think it will definitely make some memories for him.

I want to figure out how to create a "travel journal" for him to keep writings, drawings, photos, maps, tickets, brochures, postcards, small trinkets, bags, wrappers, receiptis and whatever else he feels like putting in it... but I'm pretty new to the concept of scrapbooking and journalling myself so I'm not sure what would be appropriate...

I thought about a big blank book, but how will he be able to put all the "external" stuff in the book easily (we're talking an 8-year old boy) without gluing or doing other destrictive stuff to the book or the stuff... should I consider some kind of box instead? Or is there some other compromise? An envelope book maybe? I want it to be easy for him to maintain so that he can do it WHILE he's on the trip and without me around (since I won't be for half of the adventure) verses bringing a bunch of stuff home for me to make into a book later.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!! I want to make this fun for him and give him something to remember when he's all grown up!

I found a tutorial on craftster for a wallet made of packing tape, and printed a copy but never found anything to really do with it. A few days ago I posted about my windfall of stamps, and mentioned that I might make a wallet from some of them.

So I ended up cutting pages from The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (I hate cutting up books, usually, but it's booknoted and I don't have any younger siblings for it and I'll never read it again. ....why am I rationalizing myself to you? XD) and folded them around the template pieces to make the components, then taping them together with scotch tape. Then I went to sleep. The next day, though, I found a big roll of packing tape and arranged some stamps on each component to make it look like more than just pages.

Rather liked how it came out, so...

Here it is )

Was rather fun, I may make some more of these. But this one's being sent to Colorado in a package I'm making up for a family friend and her daughter. It's the kind of quirky thing she'd appreciate. She'd use it, too. haha

I made cute little Fimo fruit and veggie earrings today! I love them! They are all pretty tiny. The carrot and the grape ones are the biggest. The carrot earrings are about 1 and 1/2 inches And the grapes are about an inch.

I am so sorry to post just text, but I am in DESPERATE need of your crafty help! This summer I am working as the Arts Director of a GS summer camp and still need some craft ideas. The ones I am mainly stumped on are weeks themed with swimming, aquatics, and other water fun. Also, thinking of horse related crafts has been a pain. It's hard to find something to entertain girls from 7-17 that's cheap and takes about 30-40 minutes. I have checked EVERY website out there! Please lend me your crafty talents!

I made these ornaments last year for halloween (I am a huge Halloween nut!) by papercasting into molds and then painting them in acrylic paints and I really loved the way they turned out. Some have metalic paints or highlinghts on them and some glitter paints and glass beads. Lots of pictures behing the cuts.

I am looking for ideas to stop material edges from fraying,

I dont have pinking shears (the scissors that cut little triangles) and it wouldnt look right for the project anyways (the material is going to be behind a window with one cutout shape over top of a different colour material)

Ideas i have had are - pvc (white) glue brushed around the edges
- clear nail varnish (like you do for a ladder in your hose)

Does anyone know if either of these would work or could think of any other ideas

I am thinking about blanket stiching the cut out to the background - but i dont think that would help any...

for those of you who are involved with stained glass...

i have a few questions:

1. i'm working with small pieces (all under 10 inches). what's the best way to stabalize pieces while soldering?

2. what is the best type of flux to use, or are all ok?

3. am i doing something wrong, or does it take quite a bit of practice to get a "smooth" soldering job done?

4. how do i keep my soldering iron from getting black soot-like material all in the solder?

thanks in advance.

Augh!

Ok. I began making a little purselet thingy for a friend of mine, and disaster struck. It was my first attempt at lining a purse using the "put right sides together, sew, then turn inside out" method... Everything went well enough, but then I turned it inside out and fit the lining in..... and now, for some reason there is about a quarter of an inch of lining hanging out over the top of the bag, even though the bottoms of the lining and the bag are flush with each other... (I wish I had a pic, but my camera is being pissy)

Can some crafty girl out there tell me what I'm doing wrong? And it's not that I cut the lining pieces too big, because I made sure they were identical to the bag pieces themselves.

Help please!

And thanks soooo much, in advance.
