I did some fabulous birthday crafting- finishing a shirt from the 'SnB Nation' book, and making a necklace from beading supplies I scored Tuesday on a trip downtown.

Does anyone know of any good beading tutorials? I am not the best at finishing (I used silver wire to string the beads, silver crimps and closers) and I need to perfect the technique, or at least make it less sloppy.

undies!

Does anyone know where I can find some basic patterns for underwear? I've been thinking I'd like to design my own, but I'd like to try something simple and tried-and-true first so I can learn the rules and break them later. :)

So I made this a while ago and have been meaning to post the pics for a while. I know it's nothing special, but here are some book thongs that I made!!

The one on the left has a leather thong cord, and the other two are waxed linen cord.

Cause I'm sure you crafty ladies can help me out here. I'm going to be working at an Anime convention all weekend. Can y'all think of some fun quick outfits I can whip up to wear to the convention? (it can also be D&D related as there will be gaming there, and I will be working at a miniatures table)

hello crafters,
my friend made me some patchwork hippie skirts, but the elastic has gotten twisted & scrunched in the waistband. i've gone around and around that thing trying to get it to lay flat and i can't get it to do so. what am i doing wrong? any suggestions?

thanks bunches (ha ha). :)

i made this a couple of days ago. it's your standard friendship bracelet made with embroidery floss and seed beads. the fishbone charm was from a dollar store and recently broke off my keychain. it was sewn on with some of the deconscructed floss. a neat tool i found out was quite handy are those little blue floss threaders (for those of us with braces or permanent retainers) which are perfect for these tiny beads.

would anyone know of any place on the web to get more friendship bracelet patterns?

Hama beads

[identity profile] teraspawn.livejournal.com
I don't know if you have these in the USA, but over here in the UK, you all know what I'm talking about when I say Hama beads, right? The little plastic ones you put on a grid, and then iron, and they melt.

Well, I made a swan a couple of years ago, and just found it at the back of a drawer, sans beak.

So what can I do with it now? The best suggestion will be petted and fed a cookie.

So I have this idea up my sleeve and I was googling "food grade silicone".

I found Culinart Silicone Clay. It's a little pricey. I don't know about you, but this stuff screams AWESOME POTENTIAL! at me. Making your own candy molds is just the beginning.

I finally pulled off my craftiness and made another bag. This was my first time doing pockets or D-rings, and I'm rather pleased! ^.^

Here's my new mascot for shows, fests, and fairs:

Her hair is made of an adult-sized hula skirt, plus white and purple hair stolen from the rims of Halloween witch hats, plus "hair" and braids made out of tangled bits of Homespun and Fun Fur yarns, feathers, etc.

Why a mermaid? Well, I needed something eye-catching to draw people to the booth. And my older daughter Lorelei also sells her worry dolls and earrings and hair jewelry and such at the booth, so I was looking for something to set her stuff apart "officially" and let it be more symbolically her own thing. So, we were thinking of names that play on the Lorelei theme, and "Siren Arts" seemed appropriate for her budding biz. Which led to thinking about mermaid mascots. And there we went.

I'm really happy with the results! She's almost exactly what I envisioned in my mind.

Cupcake
I made a tiny felt cupcake last night, inspired by [livejournal.com profile] a_o_i and this great website of felt desserts. It's only two inches high. For some reason I'm all about the look of cupcakes lately. Felt is so great, because it's so cheap, but you can do so many different things with it! Does anybody know of any more plush food sort of websites? I'd really appreciate it if you would share them with me!

3 yards of fabric, a q hook, and a granny 'rectangle' pattern results in...

It looked like watermelon, so I glued some black buttons on it for "seeds." I put dots of hot glue on the bottom to keep it from sliding on the floor, which so far is working. If it ends up not working, I'll probably either put it on carpet or buying some of that nonskid stuff people put in their cabinets/drawers to keep it in place.

Found this community a couple of weeks ago... I was so impressed by all the crafty wares I had to sign up for an LJ so I could post my own!

Well, less a blankie than something to drop on the change table, to wrap baby in when feeding or any other of the numerous absorbent purposes a baby blankie is needed for.
My friend had her twins early, so I had to whip this one up in a few hours today.
I know it isn't too creative, but it's my first crafty thing in a few years!

Just made this. The satellite glows in the dark. Still waiting for it to dry, and then I'll do the back.

Hey Ladies!

I want to make up a tote bag as a gift for a friends step-mum and I'm wondering if anyone can give me a little advice on a pattern to use.

Also does anyone know about any fabric sales online?

My lovely daughter, Alyson, loves to write and is writing a magazine each week during the summer. She came up with that herself because she wanted something to do. So I decided to get a grocery bag, some acid free, lavender paper, and some fabric that I had no idea what to do with and make her this book. )

Hey everyone...

New girl here. I've been getting into beading lately. Not great at it, I guess, but I'm getting better. I absolutely love to do it and am hoping to one day be able to sell some things. Don't have much money to buy the greatest of supplies or beads, but I'm getting by with what I have.

Behind the cut is a picture of a butterfly that I made using a drapery hook, magnets, seed beads, and buttons. :-)

Well, it was exam week last week, so because of all the extra time when I should have been studying/ needed to stop studying and just look at something without any relevance to science in any way I had a crafting spree. Here are some of the crafts that I actually took pictures of before giving away and whatnot.

Handmade book.
. I was bored, and I had a large stack of paper, some cardboard and some fabric. It actually took very little effort and turned out verywell for someone who wasn't even looking at it while binding/ measuring the pages (which I could have paid a bit more attention to). Basically just a blue hardcover book which -was- all blank on the inside, 200 pages. I''m currently using it as a mini sketchbook/ to do list book. Took a little over 2 hours while watching my video of Wicked.

Pop can tab choker.
. A friend asked me to make this for them... so I did. Just a blue easily bendable wire and about 40 pop can tabs strung together. Turned out really well, but I preferr my pop can tab belt. Only took like 15/20 minutes to make while watching tv.

+1 )

A collection of Kanzashi flowers.
. I made about eight, but only took pictures of four before friends stole them away and used them as pins/hairclips. Oh well... I had no use for them... being a guy and all. The blue one is the same fabric as the book cover, they look perfect together.

That's all for now folks.

I've been going through all of my various photographs, and I really want to cover a wall in them. I'm going to be moving sometime within the next 6 months, so I don't want this to be very permenant. I'd rather not staple the pictures, I don't want to damage them, so glue is also out of the question.

I was thinking of drawing a grid on the wall with pencil, something I can either clean off later or paint over, and then set up hundreds of those little corner tabs, stuck right to the wall. I want the photos right next to eachother, so this would allow me to do that. Do you think it would work? Do you have any better ideas?
