Hi I'm new ::waves:: I have no pictures of my crafts to share yet, but anyway I want to introduce myself. My name is Francisca (franie for friends ;) ), I'm from Chile, I study Graphic design and live in ViƱa. I usually have not all the time I want to make my crafts, but I'm always doing something, sp beading and drawing. I'm going to be a mommy "soon" (I'm 8 weeks!) so I feel craftier than ever. I hope to show some of my stuff soon, to share.
I love this comunity, I've been here for just a couple of days and the things I've seen are beautiful. Keep it up =)

Good night!

Let's say...I wanted to attempt to make shoes like those above. What would I make the bottom out of?

And. The little loops where the ribbons go through, I was thinking of piercing a whole through the bottom of the sandal, gluing a button to one side so it'd stay (like normal thong sandals). You think that'd work?

Felt Cookie 1 Felt Cookie 2

So I made a felt cookie today. I used to call them "Belgiums" when I was little. I have no idea if that is the actual name or not. Making felt food seems to becoming a new crafting addiction for me.

What is a good way to get a design on tshirt? Can you use regular paint? I've read about silk screening but to be honest I can't understand what any of the directions I've seen are telling me to do and it sounds too complicated and expensive. Also, those of you put felt designs on tshirts how do you attach them to the t-shirt? I sewed some felt shapes onto a shirt but they look really bad.

I found this tattoo I really liked. I don't know who designed it. I don't know who/what lead me to finding this tattoo (maybe the vagina_art community). In any case, I really liked it and decided to paint it on a tank top of mine.

Here it is )

Here's the actual tattoo

And here's a shirt my boyfriend did, from the Engrish.com website.

FAUX FUR

Jun. 24th, 2005 04:01 am
[identity profile] ana.livejournal.com
i have googled and googled through the last few years looking for faux fur that
is REALLY shaggy but can't find any!
really long and shaggy, not just
plush.
and in cool colours like hot pink and orange and lime green and stuff.
(not animal print)

does anyone know of a place online that sells this
kind of fabric?
shaggy like this:

all
i can find is this place:
http://www.prefurs.com/
and it's not
shaggy enough for me.
there HAS to be a fabric store online that sells long
shaggy faux fur!

i've checked the memories section and there was 2 links to hancock and joanne fabrics but those do not i have what i am looking for.

btw, hello, i have been a member of this community for a long time but have never posted until now!
my crochet/fiber arts journal is here: [livejournal.com profile] anavoog

Hi! :)  Long time lurker, first time poster...

Anyway, I suddenly find myself with about four large light blue oxford men's shirts. (My employer has recently changed the dress code, and I'm left with useless shirts.) I have a vague idea of maybe making a skirt out of one of them. I seem to remember seeing a skirt made out of an old Western-style men's button-up, but I have no idea how it would be done.

So my questions are: anybody have a tutorial for turning a men's shirt into a skirt? OR anybody have a better idea of what to do with these old things??

Note: There is a small, machine-embroidered logo above the right pocket which I would like to cover. I was thinking a patch... but I don't know. It's a little too close to the pocket to be able to cut it off and I'm not sure if I could rip out that much stitching.

PS - Mad props to anyone who knows the 'mystery employer'! ;)

Thanks! Happy crafting!

Hey everyone... you're all so crafty, I was hoping someone could give me some sewing tips or know of any tutorials online that could help me make this three layer jagged hem skirt...

Punk Rawk Sidewalk Sale and BBQ at Thee Parkside!
It will be held on JULY 2nd, in the afternoon from ONE to SIX pm.  It's very informal--no table fees, and you bring your own table, if you want one.  A lot of people just lay everything out on a big blanket or tablecloth, flea market style.  Y'all can sell whatever you like as long as it's cool--crafts, art, purses, jewelry, vinyl, vintage/handmade clothing, collectible stuff, books.  I'd really love it if everyone pimped their handmade stuff!  Thee Parkside draws a good crowd and the booker is good at his job, so count on fun people and good music.  Should be a super-fun day.

If you want to take part, contact me.  Y'all can email me here, or at sassetteopants at yahoo dot com.

my first completed piece of free embroidery:

the motif mesaures 4" high and 3" wide.
the design is constructed around three
pieces of shishadur (mirror work) and then
just grows organically from there.
surprisingly (or perhaps unsurprisingly,)
this piece looks very much like my drawings.

So. My mom's birthday is in a month-- the big 5-0. She's going to be freaking out, all "waaah, I'm 50," and so I want to give her something that makes her feel pretty or sexy or both. I picked up some spa stuff for her, but I also want to include something handmade that shows I didn't just fall back on the "girly bath stuff" option.

I've been looking everywhere for a hip-yet-conservative pattern for sewing or knitting, but I can't find anything. I see lots of stuff that I'd love to make for her, but I know she'd never wear it. (Even though she looks amazing, my mom's very self-conscious about her age and appearance, so if something's too tight, revealing or 'young-looking,' she'll be too embarrassed to wear it.) I was thinking about something along these lines, but I'm not sure that I'm at that level of knitting yet.

Sooo... if any of you have any suggestions or tried-and-true mom gift ideas, I'd love to hear them. Thank you!

(Sorry for the image-free post--I'm almost done with these cleves, and I promise to post pictures when I'm done)

sorry for the text-only post but i just have a quick question.
i'm gonna buy some Sculpey III today and make some cat beads put on necklaces. i'm gonna put the kitties on a head pin, attach a jump ring, and then attach to a necklace. my question is:

should i put the head pin through the sculpey before baking, and bake with the pin in there, or wait until the scupey has been baked and hardened and then push a hole through?

any help you could give me would be great! thanks!! ♥

I had an old top with material on it that i really loved.
As it had become too small for me i decided to make it into a bag.
It's only small, it's about 12cm wide and 14cm long, just big enough for a purse, phone and lip-loss.
The material was really hard to work with and sags quite a lot, i think i'd used interfacing in the future to give it a little more shape.

more pictures and details are behind the cut.

I was inspired by that post with skull beads a few days back to make myself some skull beads out of clay. They don't look as cool as hers did, but I still like them.

I also made a tutorial when I got the hang of making them.

A new favorite of mine:

Stretchy Coffee Bean Bracelet made with real Irish cream coffee beans.

They're coated with a clear triple thick spray on glaze, drilled with a drill press and put onto a stretchy clear cord with an adorable coffee pot charm.

And they still smell absolutely wonderful. Someday I will make coffee perfume.
