Thanks everyone for the advice on the waterproof material! I ended up using polar fleece and it works amazingly well!

In other news, my fellow-mommy-friend, Heidi, and I spent all day yesterday crafting(when the babes would let us!) and ended up with some fun stuff!

I thought I'd share )

We also made two "wet bags" with leftover fleece, but didn't take a picture of them, and we're in the process of making really great diaper bags (In the diaper picture, William is sitting on what I've done so far) out of the most adorble flannel that I found at walmart and bought ALL of! I can't wait to finish it.

Anyhow, thanks for looking!

Ok, here's the story: I told my mum that I needed some supplies to make earrings (beads, pins, hooks...). I give her 10 bucks and she goes to the store. She comes back with wire and small glass beads. The beads were ok, but why wire? Anyway, I inquire about the rest of the stuff and she said she couldn't find any of that stuff so she improvised. I sighed and took the beads and wire to my room and created this!!: On my wrist
On the ottoman

Sorry if the pictures are a little blurry...:P

A few Halloween Dolls I made. They range in size from 12-17 inches Tall. Their heads are all hand sculpted polymer clay that I painted & their bodies are fabric that has been sewn, stuffed & finally jointed to their bodies with floral wire which allows them to have a ton of movement.

What is the best way to sew loose sequins onto fabric? One by one by hand, or string them and then put them through a machine? What about sequins that are already store-bought strung together, sew them on a machine?

My cousin's wife just gave me a TON of sequins, mostly loose, but some strung. I've never really tried to sew them onto things before, so I'm just wondering the best way to sew them on. I'm thinking of making a sequined headband, so what would be the best method for something like that?

I've been working on this off and on for ages. It was supposed to be a xmas gift for my boyfriend a couple years ago.

2 years and 30 shirts later... )

What with October being here (FINALLY) and Halloween looming, I'm starting to buy materials to make my costume. I've got most of it figured out. I'm going as Max, from Where the Wild Things Are. I have the jist of what I'm going to do. I just have two problems...

(This is the subject in Question...)

1) What would be the best method for getting ears as close to the drawing as possible? So far, the only thing I've thought up is making a hood and attaching the ears from there (I AM going to have a crown, but I'm making it separately, so the ears need to stand up to scrutiny by themselves), but I don't relish the idea of having such visible seams on the side of the head. My only other thought was to make the hood extra-large and cut the ears from the hood itself (so the space on top of the head, between the ears, would be where most of the Frankenstein-work is). Does any of this make sense at all? Am I being too paranoid?

2) So far, I'm having a hard time finding a pattern for a basic adult-sized body suit with a hood. Found a few kids' patterns that I can play with in a pinch, but I don't relish trusting my math that much. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Anyway, I'm obscenely excited, and can't wait to see what crafty things the rest of you come up with this year...

If anyone here has rock cutting tools I will give you my uncut, but traced out oval pendent rocks. I have about three pounds of them. I'm not selling, I'm giving. I have to get rid of them before my boyfriend kills me.

(update) I also have a lot of little pink quartz triangles that could used for a number of things. They are all cut into triangles and I don't know why. They range from 1x 1 inch to about 2 tall and three inches wide. I'm not sure how much I have, but it looks like maybe a pound or so.

I've barely had my laptop for over two weeks and because of my stupidity it already has scratches on the top from the adapter plug. So to hide the scratches from my mom and to prevent any future damage, I've decided to make a laptop cover. How I'm planning it in my mind is that I want to fill the inside of the cover with some sort of padding so it can have extra protection but I don't know what sort of padding to use. I'm going to be bringing this with me to school and back on the TTC in my messenger bag so it's going to be taking some hard knocks. Not intentionally of course but these sort of things happen.

Does anyone here go to the spoon river drive? I think it's coming up soon. It's when Central Il becomes a giant garage sale, along with craft sales in each town.

Just curious. I've went every year but this one I'm going to miss out on.

So, how do you stencil on denim? Like, a denim jacket?
Would regular acrylic/textile medium be okay?
