So, I have told my friend several times how much I learn from this group and how inspired I get. She is crafty herself but not enough to join. So today I get this email from her:

"plz ask your craft people if there's a way to preserve real leaves (like hosta leaves or any other tree/plant leaves so they can be used in a project and wont wilt). Maybe there's a liquid plastic or something? thanks. :)"

Can any of you help me/her out?

Thanks!

I know this has been asked before, but I didn't see it in the memories.

My favorite skirt has bleach stains on it. Common sense tells me that if I dye it, the bleach stains will still be lighter than the rest of it.

Does anyone have experience with this that can tell me otherwise?

Thanks!

My 50's spotty dress.
I'm trying to whittle my 'to do pile' down and it finally came down to finishing this dress. I'm really proud of how it turned out and I can't wait to go show it off this weekend ^_^

I have an incredibly difficult time making waistbands that fit out of eyelet fabric.
I've tried loads of things.
I always wind up having to use drawstrings for them. And they never come out right.

I've been experimenting with more Victorian-esque style items lately using kimono fabric and vintage lace. I made this as an experiment to see how it would look - I really liked how it came out...I think I'll be making more. I just need to find a supply of cameos now.

It is all hand sewn with the cameo being glued down.

Fabric

Does anybody know where I could find fabric that looks like dragon scales? I've checked a few of the big-name fabric stores online, but can't find what I'm looking for. I'm not picky about color, but purple or red would be best.

If nothing else, I could use sequined fabric, but that's kind of expensive for the amount I'm going to need, and it doesn't hang like I want it to. The best thing would be a knit with scaly texture (like the kind with the texture stamped into the fuzzy side of the fabric.)

It's for a big, Chinese-style dragon for a school play.

Here is my first try and making earrings to go with my face pendants. The little faces are really tiny and a pain in the rump to paint but I think they look pretty cool. One pair is done in blues with white iridescent paints and the other is green and bronze with green iridescents.

It's gray, gray, gray here.
So I decided to make some crystally shiny stuff to help brighten my mood.

I just finished these earrings like 2 seconds ago.
I love when earrings make noise when you move.

It took me approx. 1 hour and 30 minutes to make this bracelet and this necklace. They are both very simple, but that's what I was aiming for.
Pastel, braided bracelet

i just thought this sewing machine looked really neat. i don't know how functional it could really be, seeing as it looks pretty minimal. nonetheless, for easy stuff, i suppose it would do the trick!

anyway, check it out, it's called Flat Mode, and if nothing else, it looks neat:

I made this earring display out of...
a checkbook box
a 12x12 scrapbook page
some tape
some hemp cording
a sticker tag that I stenciled for the price

Now it's off to my craft show tomorrow with these loaded up.

for my halloween costume i needed black tulle... walmart failed me, so i ended up getting white.

my question is: is it possible to dye tulle? i have a ton of black dye, but since tulle is kind of.. synthetic? i guess, would it take the dye?

shanks.

What does this little one need? I'm probably gonna change her mouth, but does she need something like a hat? shoes? something?
