this is what i made tonight. it's kyanite (the blue/grey stone) and smoky quartz. the smoky quartz is a brown transluscent color, while the kyanite is an amazing silver, blue, grey, and brown. it's just a GORGEOUS stone, and so damn hard to photograph. the pictures do NOT do it justice. anyway...

here's a close up...

Hey! I just put up a new album of some of my ceramic work in progress.
I though you guys might be interested in the deer figurines I make, and the little plaques. The rest of the pictures are just a couple of large sculptures that I'm working on.

Here's the link: Ceramics!

They're on facebook, but you can see it even if you don't have an account!

The plaques have little notches so they can be hung on the wall, but they are very light and look good mounted on paper and framed.

I'm finally done! I've been working on a wig for Dresden for several days.

I need some input. I am gathering craft ideas that are not too complicated and would be best done in a kitchen. Here's my list so far:

Record Bowls
Veggie Stamps
Shrinky Dinks
Oven-Baked Clay
Toothbrush Bracelet
Paint on tile/glass
Melt-and-Pour soap
Dying Cloth
Bath Bombs
Paper Making
Papier Mâchè
Scent Stones

Can you guys think of anything to add to the list? I'm going to use these ideas to make a craft "cookbook" for my mom to use in her classroom.

Hey Crafty ones! I hope that it is okay to post this here. :)

I just made a community for the selling/trading and giving away of baby related items and know that many of you make lots of baby/mother/maternity items. We also welcome questions about baby products and Reviews in the community so if you want something reviewed that you make and sell then this is the place to be.

The community is called [livejournal.com profile] baby_stuff4sale

It is still in the creation stage right now, so give me a few days, and I hope to have the look of the community changed.
I also thought that it would be a great way for people who are very crafty and make baby related items (longies, blankets, slings, cloth diapers, etc) could sell their stash and make some cash. :)

Everyone is invited. Thank you!

I need some help coming up with a creative way to use the following:

One day I was thinking that footprints could look like a heart. So I made some prints of myself and my two children for my husband. I was thinking about a card that said "We love you down to our toes" or "You've left footprints on our heart". But I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on something more creative to make (not necessarily a card), a more creative way to make the card, or a more clever saying. Thanks.

It won't be a boring Valentine's Day garter belt... )

If you're one of those people who can't see the blasted photos, try heading to http://artificis.blogspot.com/ and looking at my most recent entry, otherwise: (& you'll need to click for the full res. image. The thumbnails aren't really detailed enough to see the faint designs)

German Philosophers! We have here Hegel, Marx and Nietzsche!

Eventually I shall get photos of the double headed Byzantine eagle set I made.

Any good ideas on what else I can etch? Anime or geek related, preferred.

The resurgence of Shrinkydinks has allowed me to create hypoallergenic necklaces for myself AND immortalize my favorite celebrities. I consider the print-able ones to be cheating, so I hand draw all of mine with Sharpies and fill them in with colored artist's pens.

I came up with the idea to make drink markers for tumblers when I was at a friend's place last month. We all had identical blue glasses and the more we drank the harder it was for me to remember which one was mine. Since we were drinking from high balls we could not have used wine charms. I went home and created these cocktail monkeys out of cling vinyl. Now I have a fun way to mark my glassware at dinner parties without doing anything permanent to my glassware and my guests always know which glass is their's.

I am all impressed with myself for making this earring holder. It turned out freaking perfectly.

I took a wood box that a children's game had come in, painted it, varnished it, and then used gold tacks to attach the the chain.

11" x 14", mixed media doll assemblage

Everyone liked the dolls I posted last time so I thought I'd post my (finally finished) latest one. I altered a Barbie-clone with paint, molding paste, fabric, wire, ribbon, and other media. She is mounted in a shallow shadowbox I built and painted myself. Let me know what you think! And thanks for looking :)

I have a lovely silver bracelet that has a minor break. I'd like to fix it with a sodering gun, but I don't know how to solder silver. Normal sodering wire won't work because I have some pretty strong allergies. So have any of you sodered with silver before?

I thought it was time for a new project:

This one is 2x3 peg boards. (Sorry about the blurry quality, it was either that or lots of siny-ness)

If you live near a Joann's and haven't already...go before tomorrow! I got about 8 yards of different fabric for $17 bucks today. They have adorable fabric on clearance so I advice you to go before the sale ends!

Ok...anyway here's 3 things I made recently. :)

I love all of the record earring holders, but they just do not work for me. Mostly they are too large,... and I would feel bad about using even a horrible record to make one. So I came up with this ~

I just discovered this tutorial on how to make a t-shirt folding machine out of cardboard and tape on boing boing and I thought I would share it.

The site is in French but if you click on the video still there are purely visual instructions and it looks so easy I just have to make one (I an a bit of a Bree when it comes to house work).

:::EDIT:::
I couldn't wait, I had to make one right now even though we are moving house and I really shouldn't be cutting up the packing boxes!
Pictures to follow soon.

Hey, I kind of thought this was a really cool idea... I've mentioned it to a few people who sell their things at craft stores, and one person who works in a jewelry shop and wanted some way to utilize her walls :-)

For a while, I was putting just fabric in frames and hanging it up.. and it looked so awesome... and then I noticed this frame had broken glass and foam in it.. foam! no glass! earrings! The good thing with using matts and fabric is that you can change the matt to a darker color.. and put lighter earrings along the bottom of the foam.. and have it hanging down into the darker... (or vice versa) -- two shades at the same time!

I don't wear earrings, but I make them and my brother's friend is going to start selling them at his shows once I've gotten a bunch of them made... (he's got earring holder display things.. and i've got earrings to be sold!) this is totally an awesome way for me to stay organized with my styles and colors.. I love it so far! I just wanted to share with everyone and see what they thought!

Was working on this painting yesterday, drove me nuts cause the phone kept ringing and this was one of those paintings where you have to keep going or else it can all go to hell in a handbasket really quickly. Today I went over it and added some pencil details. I can't decide if it is done or if I want to keep going and add ink or more paint. Will let it sit for a few days and see what happens.

So, I looked through the memories in need of inspiration for a Valentine's Day gift for my boyfriend.
And inspiration I found. There's a section in the memories dedicated to guitar straps.
I was hoping to perhaps make him one. I can't crochet or anything of the sort, so I figured I could make a trip to Joann's in search of some sturdy fabric of some sort.
I've googled it and scoured the memories, but I was unable to find any directions. Can anyone point me in the direction of some tutorials?

I could always modify a guitar strap, which will probably be what I do, since I am a beginner to crafting. The memories had some good suggestions (iron on transfers for pictures, for example), but I was wondering if any of you guys had any other ideas.

Thanks for your help!

I made these a little while ago, and I wanted to show 'em off. ;) Everyone makes crafty accessories, but what about accessories for crafting?

flowermarkers

stitch markers! )

Also, how would one go about getting the wrinkles out of some really fantastic vintage seersucker? I'm just letting them hang out, right now, but I don't think it'll help with how it crinkles up around the selvedges. Wouldn't ironing it also iron out all the neat little seersucker puckers? Argh!
Thank you, everyone!

Yeah so as the subject says, this is my first post to craftgrrl!

I've been watching all of you for a long time and am so impressed. Everyday something amazing shows up on my screen because of you, so of course KEEP IT UP!

Anyway, back to my post: I don't have a digital camera so I never thought about other ways that I could post the stuff I have made/done. Well it just occured to me that the small things may be able to be scanned. I've made some jewelry but the pictures are sort of big.

I always make my friends stuff for any occasion and as valentine's is coming up I needed to plan what I wanted to do.

For one of my friends I'm going to create a set of fingerpuppets for one hand, but I don't know how to make them. Should I just draw an arc shape in felt, cut it out twice, and sew it back-to-back, leaving the bottom open?

I've never done it before, and I am really new at it.

Thanks if you can help :)

My sister got a new casio exilim for christmas from my parents.
She has a habbit of breaking things easily and i was super bored,
so i decided to make her a camera case.
I made it out of:
some scrap checkered print fabric
That foamy stuff that comes in jewelry boxes
some red fabric off an old shirt to decorate
& titch clips
this is how it came out, tell me what you think :)
I ♥ this case )

Hi all. Does anyone have any good resources for custom made rubber stamps? My boyfriend is hoping to either order one online or make one at home using his own artwork. The preferred result would be rubber with padding and a wooden backing, rather than one of the ultra cheap methods such as a carved potato or something. Any ideas?
