Just a few pieces of jewely. A friend of mine has taken up earring making, so I've been tinkering around with her. : ) I turn the loops on her head pins some times. Anyway, onward!

2 pairs of earrings, one bracelet! )

Tile me and my sister made for mother's day. We smashed up plates and glued them to a stone from Home depot. It turned out real sweet.

Hello All,

Seeing how today is Mothers Day, I thought Id post my mom’s gift. Luckily you don’t need to be rich in order to be crafty. I’m completely broke, but I whipped this up with whatever I had in my craft bin. It’s not much, but my mom loved it.

I am about to start a website to sell my crafts, and I figured I'd name my shop Black Banana. I've always said that if I had a band, we'd be called The Black Bananas. It sounds kinda gross, I know. But there's actually a lot of personal meaning behind the name- in first grade, we were scored on our behavior for the week with paper cutout bananas. If you were good all week, you stayed a green banana. Act up once, and you were demoted to yellow, then brown, then black. I was almost always black, due to some serious behavioral problems which I have since overcome. Calling my band The Black Bananas would have been a way to remind me of that time and of how I overcame- and in some ways am still overcoming- all those issues.

Now, I'm never actually going to be in a band. But I am starting a business, and I figure using the name Black Banana for this is the next best thing. Or The Black Banana, or Black Banana Designs or Boutique or whatever. (I will be selling jewelry, bags and clothing (lots of stenciled stuff), as well as prints of my photography and art.) But is it too gross? I mean, it evokes rotten fruit, and it was always meant as a pretty negative image. Would that name scare people away, or put them off? Should I use the name but explain why I'm using it? (My mom thinks people will take it as a phallic symbol. I think she's a perv and no one else will, but I could be wrong. Discuss?)

To untextonlyize this, here's a necklace I made. I'll be selling stuff like this, among other things.
Orange is so underrated. )

If this doesn't fit with the guidelines of posting here, I completely get deleting it...

Question. I'm being hounded to start selling my bags. Does anyone think $10 is too much for this bag? Or not enough?

i tried out a new craft with my crafting group yesterday, and it was fun & successful for the most part, so i thought i'd share the results.

clicking on any of the photos will take you to my flickr page. you can also see the ones everyone else made by checking out the latest entry in my journal.

i found a pretty good deal on most of the supplies i needed at articus studio designs. this is a fairly easy craft, but it's hard to get the tape on the edges even. patience and fastidiousness definitely influence the outcome.

I'm volunteering at my campus radio station over the summer and we have hundreds of shipping envelopes (manilla envelopes lined with bubble wrap) from people sending us CDs. They can't be recycled here and we don't want to throw them out and I figured if anyone had crazy crafty ideas of what to do with them - you folks would. Any suggestions?

Also - if you live the Peterborough ON area and want some please just let me know!

I bought this pretty pencil skirt at the Salvation Army last week.
I purchased it fully aware that there was no way this size six beauty would fit over my ample bottom half. No worries, I had an idea in mind as soon as I laid my eyes upon it.

Here it is as is:

It's been a loooooong, long time since I have posted here. I used to post a couple of years ago, when I first started beadweaving, but had too many communities to keep up with, so I dropped this one. But I decided I'd go ahead and rejoin, so here's what I've been up to lately:

lotsa pictures here )

so, yeah. it's been a while, but hopefully I'll have the time to post a bit more and admire what everyone else has been making!

i'm so very sorry about the text-only post. i'd have added a picture of my latest dress but my camera's at school for yearbook. i quickly want to know:

how much is a bedazzler (just a very very basic one) and is it worth getting if i'm going to use it probably just once? because i need to bedazzle a shirt for a present i'm making someone and i'd like to know whether i should just leave it unbedazzled.

thanks. much love and sunshine.

ALSO (i just remembered) does anyone know where i can get white fishnets in canada? preferably not online...thanks again.

I've been trying to make an iPod nano cover for a while and not having huge amounts of success. I managed a slightly dull black felt one, and was knocking about some ideas with fabric lining and hems, when I had a brainwave about applique stitch...

I also drew a pattern, which helped, a lot.

Yay first post! ...Kinda. (I posted this once and then deleted it because I couldn't get my LJ cuts to work).

This is a necklace I made for my Mommy for Mother's Day from an assortment of lucky glass bead findings at WalMart and a bracelet of mine that I deemed worthy of sacrifice for her.

Kind of large pictures.

It's cutesy and simple, but it was exactly what my mom was looking for. I'm going to try and make her some matching earrings when I find my pliers. *shakes fist*

or does anybody know a website that explains how to read knitting patterns? I JUST learned how to pearl but am clueless on how to read patterns.
