I have a friend who wanted one of these. Yes, a ceramic robot toilet paper dispenser. She dreamed on one in pink with sparkles and more sturdy than fragile ceramic design. As a surprise, my fiance and I whipped up her dream version with some modifications. We used copper pipe and fittings for the dispenser rod as well as an entire body to boot! It was a lot of work but totally worth it. She was floored.

Enjoy!

*Whoa everybody, what a response!! I'm so glad you all liked it so much. I don't have photos of a tutorial but I'll add a descriptive one here as soon as I can.

So, just to update on my updates this summer, The Great Furniture Painting '06 is FINALLY DONE. All of the furniture is now a lovely blue, the hardware is lovely and shiny. And yes, we started painting in August, but work and graduate school (not to mention the damn RAIN) got in the way. Mad props to my boyfriend Tony, who dragged the frame of my dresser out on my patio Wednesday night and slapped the last two coats of paint on.
I'll post pictures later on today when I have time to take them.

So now that my clothes are safely in my lovely dresser, and I can finally see my floor *gasp!*, it struck me that my walls look.... dreadfully naked. We have a ton of blue paint left over, and what I'd really like to do on one wall is to do a painting like what is in the Project Runway season three house. I couldn't find any screen caps with that wall art in the background so here goes with my description...

It's a painting split up onto four canvases...white canvas with one color, and it's usually some kind of neat branchy looking floral design. It looks like something that you could do with the right kind of stencil, which is great cause I can't draw. Does anyone know where I could find a stencil that would create that effect?

Thanks for your help in advance!

Sunday comics, newspaper material. I have them, and I'd like to wrap a gift in them but I read somewhere at some time that there is a way to make them have a glossy appearance. What is it? I've tried hairspray and that didn't get the effect I wanted. I can use them this way but I'd prefer them shiny. Anyone know of anything that works? I'm kind of on a short time schedule. I'm going to a birthday party Sunday.

Boydie 3D

Boydie 3D, originally uploaded by superminx.

Inspired by my paintings, and ambitious beyond belief I made a pattern to make Boydie stuffed toys for the Craft Stall (which is tomorrow!!!). This was the first one. There's another cut and ready to sew but now I have to go and make cupcakes and I don't think there'll be more than this... and Finlay's taken ownership of it so I don't think he'll be for sale either (the boydie, not finlay - finlay's always for sale!!! <-joke)

R2D2

I want to be R2D2 for Halloween. Maybe a sexy R2D2, I don't know, both are equally ridiculous.

Think about it. I can't, I just start laghing.

Anyway, I figured out what to do for my torso: easy, just a piece of foam wrapped around and painted in all the right places with all the right gadgets in their designated holes. Possibly some beep maker inside.

I've been really confused about the head ,though. What can be large enough, and what can I do to make it act like a hat? I originally wanted to just buy one of those cyllindrical trash cans, but figured that the foam would be soo much easier and way more comfy. But now I'm stuck on the hat.

A cooking utensil? Is there something that looks like that? How do I wear it?

How can I get my "sleeves" to be the shape of his legs? I thought paper mache would be easy, but now I'm stumped on what I'm covering to achieve that shape. And is there a way to make paper mache dry faster??

If I do go for the "sexy R2D2" costume, what should I wear on my legs? I can do black boots and white tights. Is there a super-easy pattern for a silver fabric skirt?

Thanks a lot for your ideas ahead of time. I love you, girls <3<4

Hello lovelies, does anyone have a link to the instore Joann coupon? Thanks!

Thank you so much for your ideas concerning my bottle. I filled it with some green liquid in the end, as it looked really cool.

I also wanted to share some of the other crafts I've made recently.

Ever since I started shopping at Colorful Creations, I've gotten back into scrapbooking/paper craft type things. Plus I'm considering perhaps doing a craft fair or two this holiday season...so if anyone knows about some on Cape Cod, let me in on it.

I've got a decent amount of pictures behind the (hopefully-working) cut: paperbag scrapbook & notecards )

Does anyone know where to find black plastic headbands with teeth? I need around 20 or so and I can find wholesale websites that sell plain white ones in various sizes without teeth, but I'd really like the plain black kind as well.

Also, so this isnt text only heres a bag i made and embroidered a short while ago

I think this may be my first post, but I'm not totally sure.  I've been into knitting for about 3 years now and crochet for about a month... and this is only the second project I have ever finished with either craft.

It's just a very basic garter-stitch scarf with a cute little flower.  I needed something mindlessly simple after taking a load of difficult exams.

The "I'm feeling much better this week, thankyouverymuch" Scarf:

I haven't been knitting too long, and this is my first post, so here goes!
Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!
