Christmas present
Nov. 17th, 2006 12:45 pmAlright, I need some suggestions, I looked in the memories and didn't really see anything for what I'm looking for.
This Christmas I'm flying to the other side of the country to spend it with my boyfriend. He really likes it when I make him cutesy stuff, so for Christmas I decided I wanted to make him a picture frame type ornament for a Christmas tree. I want it to have a picture of he and I in it, and I want to paint the frame and put "Our First Christmas" and "December 25th, 2006" on it.
I walked around Michaels to see if I could find just a wooden, plain picture frame, small enough to be an ornament but also something that didn't weigh too much. This is mostly the problem. I would like to paint it a nice bold blue and put snowflakes on it, that's kind of what I'm envisoning.
Now I'm thinking that maybe I should think about maybe a ceramic frame or something else? Do you wonderful people have any ideas?

Cabin-themed x-mas presents
Nov. 17th, 2006 04:49 pmHello all you craftsters, I'd love to get some ideas on what I can make with these buttons:
Both my mother and father love love love to stay in cabins. They get one every year for their anniversary and for new years. My dad is a foreman for a cabin for the PATC (Potomac Appalachian Trail Club).
I'm having trouble coming up with something to make my dad that has these buttons on it. He doesn't want anything knitted.
Just to help you with ideas, he likes bikes, beer, wine, doing handy-man stuff around the house, miatas (he owns a black one), old James Bond movies, power tools, scotch and bourbon, and plaid. And he's the best dad on the planet.
I can sew a bit and have a sewing machine.
Thanks!

make things long again.
Nov. 17th, 2006 04:53 pmSo, before the lovely and talented (*sarcasm*) miss spears got all preggers, we (the royal we) were subjected to ungodly quantities shirts that ended at the beltline.. or shirts that shrunk to the beltline after washing, and well, I'm sick and rired of it and I' not going to take it anymore.
I want things long. at least mid hip. however, I've done the "sew more to bottom of shirt, and wear." because its still visually "short shirt + cheap looking extension" (like when "layering is faked")
So, my dears, I ask, nay, beg of you... share with me your favourite ways of makinging shirts long. I'm truely sick of my belly flashing all hither and yon, and I need your help... save me from going out and buying things! (yes, the point is not the buy more things- I have the materials and the technology, but not so the money for the new.)
Thank you.
