This was my March biscornu. :D I think this is one of my favorite variegated floss, ever. It's my biggest biscornu by far! o_0 My action figures seem to think it's a bean bag for them. XP I think the size worked well enough for the design, though!

Pattern: Freebie hardanger piece called "Tropic Seas", but I only used the diagram and skipped the webs and used a different floss. *degenerate* LOL
Top Side: Stitched with Anchor Variegated Floss (MC1375) on 25-count linen.
Bottom: Same pattern, but I eyeballed the colors on the variegated floss and stitched a different color per area.
Beads: Red/Orange large-ish bead that I was supposed to place where the webs should have been, but it looked weird, so I just placed it where I thought it belonged. ^^; I was worried it might have been too big, but since the biscornu was big, too, it worked. LOL Center beads are hand painted ceramic beads. And no, I didn't paint them, but I think I want to paint my own next! :D
Finished Dimensions: 5" x 5" x 1.8"

I think I need more variety with my posts on this community. I'll try to post something that isn't cross-stitch or embroidery related next time. ;)

Cross-posted to [livejournal.com profile] cross_stitch and my LJ.

This past weekend I took a dollmaking course from Wendy Froud.

This is the third time I have taken it and I have learned so much each time.

This time I made a Fairy Grandmother which I have only one shot of the completed piece that is an OK shot.

Crazy, I tell you! That's a ratio to calculate insanity!

I bought my dad a travel mug, but I'd like to personalize it in some way.

Is there some sort of a permanent sticker I can print on and then stick on there and expect it to stay through years of daily use? Or maybe there's some sort of company that does that kind of service: personalizing an item that I own rather than buy from them?

Thanks a lot!

Meanwhile, this is the first thing that I ever tried to bead that wasn't a single line of beads. I attempted to make it match those clip-on earrings. I don't know about it. I should make something better out of it. Those bees are the best thing ever, they shouldn't be wasted on something that's not perfect.

I was wondering if anybody knew an easier way without cutting yourself how to remove the shank on the back of a plastic button? I'm having trouble removing it, and I keep cutting myself just trying to remove the darn thing.

I've been in a bit of a sewing frenzy lately! The flowered apron was made about two months ago when I was still learning--I mean, I'm still learning, of course, but that was one of my first "teach myself" projects--and the other aprons were made a couple weeks ago. The skirts and dress were all made within the last week. :) Without further ado:

LOTS of pictures, and text too! )

Thank you for reading through all that! As you might be able to tell, I'm quite excited about this whole sewing thing, and plan to do much more of it. Keep posting all your projects, they inspire me every day!
