Hi, ladies!

I'm a long-time lurker, and now I come crawling from the shadows to ask for your help. I'm trying to teach myself to crochet, and while I've picked up quite a bit I'm stuck on this one point. I really want to make a few of these cuties...

... which I found here: http://bittersweetblog.wordpress.com/2007/02/19/birds-of-a-feather/

My problem is when in the pattern it says "Sc2 into each st" I get completely confused. I know that the literal translation is "single crochet 2 into each stitch," buuuuuuuut, what does that mean?!?! I get the whole basic single crochet thing, but how does one squeeze more than one into there?

If it's too hard to explain, I'd love a link to something, because I searched the internet for a while, but I don't think that I was using appropriate search terms.

Thanks in advance, I love everyone's stuff!

This is a picture wall that two of my three roommates and I are working on right now. We hung it above our dining room table (crappy picture here) We temporarily stopped because we couldn't purchase more than three bulldog clips in one set (and we need 24), and those are the kind we need to properly hang the photos, so we have yet to order the clips online somewhere.

Anyway, I got this idea from someone on Flickr (I just can't be original sometimes!). There's a link to the original idea on my page. We used a different system than the original idea to hang the wires, and used black foamcore instead of wood (because that would have too pricey for my jobless budget at the moment).

Hi, guys,

I'm but a poor teacher, and I need ideas to make gifts for some of my students' parents who have been there when I needed them (e.g. chaperoning field trips, donating classroom supplies, etc.).

I like to do something crafty, but I don't want to go overboard (teacher's salary!). I have about 4-5 parents in mind. Any ideas? BTW, I have about 4 and a half weeks left to make stuff (if I end up doing so). I'm using the last half for kindergarten graduation planning.

PS
Sorry, this is gonna be text only. I'm getting ready for work.

Gentle folk,

I am creating an altered book for a class project that is going to mimic a photo album from the 1800s. I found a great photo album from that time frame but it was in perfect condition. So I have to get it old looking, fast.

I spent the last 3 days at the Toronto Comic Convention. I did exceptionally well even though it was a fairly quiet weekend there. I had a very positive response from most of the people that stopped to take a look at my table. I ended up buying a clothing rack from Ikea and using S-hooks to hang my totes off of. It worked pretty well.

Here are some of my recent projects finished before the convention:

I have the most fun making clown dolls...especially since I discovered how well paper clay improves my little knives :)

Since there have been a lot of questions about resin lately, thought you guys might find this tutorial useful: http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/cr_accessories_jewelry/article/0,,HGTV_3225_3263016,00.html

Also, I know we have some crafters who are currently going to Virginia Tech - heard about the chaos down there, so I hope you guys are okay. (I went there for a year back in 2000, and was in the engineering program) Stay safe! Reading about it honestly makes me a little ill...

jr__nalI am currently working on a Web site for my small art publication and as well as for my school project.

I need artists, photographers, and writers, crafters, everything artistic or musicially inclined.

I want to have a column for people who are interested in having art pals or have an art journal they would like to send back and forth!?

I need people who have creative tutorials they would like to share and put in the publication.

I need people who are into poetry and writing or journaling that either have tips for getting rid of writers block or would like to share a short writing.

I have a few people i especially admire looking at their art on here I would like to have them as an inspiring artist page.

If you have special or really cool photographs that just speak to your heart, I would like to include them.

All rights and recognitions would go to the person who created it or photographed it.

EMAIL ME!

I'm now officially a crocheter! Thanks to all the super helpful comments I received on my post yesterday, I was able to finish little Edwin here.

Ooooohhhh, isn't he just squeezable? And now I'm on to ruining my life with non-stop crochet and CSI!

(And thanks again to everyone who helped!)

Ok, ok, ok! I PROMISE that this is the last thing I'll post for a while (at least a coupla days). It's my brother's birthday in... ooohhhh, say, 2.5 hours, and I made this for him.

Hehe! It's Meatwad! My little bro loves ATHF, and since I'm so broke... well, you know. Anyway, I was thinking of maybe making another one and turning them into Meatwad fuzzy dice for his car. He's 17 (in 2.5 hrs, that is) so I'm sure anything vehicular would be appreciated.

And since I'm vowing not to post again for a bit, I need to ask a question about my next project now.  Does anyone know of a paint (or something else) that can be used on latex that would be both flexible and waterproof when dry?  I'm keeping the details under wraps for now, but I'll let y'all know when I get further along.

Thanks, ladies!

and for a VERY novice crocheter. how would i go about making all those cute little characters you all seem to be variating? even a simple body with arms and i'm sure i could manipulate it to what i'm looking for.

Thanks.
