So I have an idea for a purse and I wondered if any of you out there have made one or have any tips on this project since I have never done anything like this before.

I am gonna print out pictures off the internet and cut some out of magazines that I like and glue them onto a metal lunchbox. Then after I have the whole thing covered with pictures I am gonna take some kind of spray...not sure what yet to cover up everything so its sealed and the pictures stay on and are protected.

What inspired this idea is I really want a Toki Doki purse by Le Sac but I am currently only working part time and am rather broke so I thought I could print out some pics and some of the prints and other cute things I like and make a purse with the pictures.

hey guys :]

i'm sorry if this isn't allowed but you guys always have the best answers, so maybe you can help me. i've been scouring the internet for people/companies who do custom stationary printing. all i've been able to find are printing companies that do letterhead/standard sized envelopes, but i can't find anyone that does the smaller stationary sizes!

also, while i'm at it...can anyone recommened a good place to get custom stickers made? not the big bumper sticker sizes, just little stationary type of stickers/seals. i've found a few places but could always use advice if you guys would be willing to share :)

and just so this post isn't text only here is a purse i sewed a couple weeks ago. it's from a pattern, and i got the fabric at jo-anns! <3

yummy purse! )

thanks for your help guys!

Challenge

Okay all! Here's a challenge for you!

In 2 weeks I am going to Costa Rica for the summer (so, a couple months) for work. Now, here's the thing, everything that I'm taking with me has to fit into a 65 L(iter) hiker's backpack.... Plus, where I'm going to be living is extremely small. We're talking an island with a population of 30-ish people that has no doctor, no school, no police.... no electricity.

I will need something to do, other then copious amounts of reading... does any one have any suggestions? I've heard knitting about a million times, but it's just not my thing, I honestly tried a bunch of times but didn't like it much.

I just had an idea while I was getting dressed for bed.

I have a bunch of tees (college, bands, various other sentimental attachments) which I probably won't wear after a while. So I was thinking about what to do with them . .

My idea: A tee shirt book! Each page could be a square of the tee (maybe backed by cardboard or something to keep it stiff. or else stuff the tee like a quilt and make each page a quilt square?). You could also add some sort of memorable quote/note/photo etc to give it more meaning.

I won't want to cut my tees any time soon, but is anyone interested in trying this? Please post it if you do!!

Not-text-only saving post:

I made small paintings for my family for Christmas. This was one for my brother.

This new Photobucket feature on here for uploading pictures confuses me . .haha Sorry about the weird blurry pic. If you want to find the real one, you know where to look.

PLEASE POST YOUR TEE SHIRT BOOKS! :D

Okay, so this is super-long overdue. But I asked about making a pinata with no balloon a while back. I did it! It turned out a bit janky, but not too shabby. I made it (and a matching cake) with just stuff I had around the house. The pinata was made with a plastic grocery bag that I blew air into and taped off. I even made my paint colors by mixing white acrylic and food coloring (some goes for the cake, but with white frosting).

Here's the result, including the cake... )

Ok, for my Queen of Hearts cosplay, I want to have a high collared, waist length cape with closures at the throat. Does anyone know how a novice sewer can make one? Or possibly even point me towards a pattern? I promise to post pictures after I'm done with everything. Thank you!

Pacific North by Northwest: Mt.Plushmore and Cary Grant

I finally got my sewing machine revved up again after a short hiatus due to a hugely broken arm back in October. What better way to jump back into the deep end than with a plush send up to one of the greatest movies involving national monuments, Cary Grant, and crop dusting ever to be made?

I also really love Polaroid cameras, hence Plusharoid )

i've always been a huge admirer of embroidered stuff, but i'd never tried more than a few stitches myself. whenever i tried it myself i would inevitably get frustrated or burnt out, usually defeated by my own high expectations, or i'd just get plain ol' bored. but then....

i suprise myself sometimes )

I know a ton of you ladies (and gents?) sell your crafts, but WHERE do you sell them? I have no idea to go about finding craft fairs, etc. Is there a secret directory I don't know about? Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!! :)

X-posted.

So I am about to move into a new house with some friends, and we are not allowed to paint the walls. The current wall color is an almond/off-white like color. I am a HUGE fan of color, and I do not know what I am going to do with myself. I have been thinking that I can paint some canvas type fabric and then hang it on the wall, but I don't know because the room is fairly long and large. I was wondering how I would go about mounting/hanging it, or if anyone else has any suggestions?

I have a HUGE cork board that I fill with collage-type photos and what not but I don't want to do that anywhere else but the one wall.

I appreciate any thoughts or suggestions. You guys are the greatest!

Has anyone tried using Mod Podge Paper - Matte Finish? Can you tell me what you thought of it?

I've been waiting to do this project for 5 years now. For this Pop Art assignment in one of my classes, we were to take an item that is mass produced and enlarge it like Warhol's Brillo Boxes.
Although I'm upset that I let my senioritis take the best of me, I thought it would be passable as portfolio work.

Anyways, I chose to do steak since I love working with reds and fake blood. I hope you guys like it as much as I do!

LJ-Cut for fairly large photo, random facts, and possible nsfw features (I suppose a boss or coworker strolling by may see it as violent).

My roommate and I are going to be moving into an apartment this summer which has hardwood floors. To get carpeting would cost a lot extra (and i personally like hardwood--it's so much easier to clean). However, her mom gave us huuuuuuuuuuge rolls of carpet from her old ouse. Now we know we can cut them up and use them as area rugs and such, but is there something more visually appealing and crafty we could try?

Also, so this isn't text only:

I cross-stitched Samus on a DS cozy I made for my boyfriend! I had asked about this a while ago, but forgot to post a picture of the finished project. The outside of the cozy is black canvas, and it is lined with green fleece. Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions!
