Hello, I do hope this is appropriate here. I've a problem and would like to hear your views on this.
I have a lycra tee that was stained with awful red blotches, and so I was thinking of dyeing it myself. Any idea on how lycra shirts take to DIY dye jobs?

Thanks a whole bunch (:

Yes I do crafts every now and then. The most recent has been candles- as of today. Back in December I did footprint molding of my son. I'm just now doing the photos.

I'm trying to teach my self how to crochet
and I would really rather not have to find some one to teach me because I get very impatient sometimes and I would probably just blow up in their faces
So I was wondering if there was a website that could show me how to
I have multiple books and I have the simple stuff down, but they don't show me what I'm doing wrong
I know they have one for knitting where it shows you step by step videos
and I was just curious if theres one for crocheting
so if you guys are aware of any-HOLLLLAA
please

SO, I spent an hour looking through memories for this, and now that I think about it, it's a very stupid question. BUT.

If I had some jeans. And I dyed them a white-ish color. Could I dye them again a crazy bright color, and have it show up fantastically vivid??

I'm hoping I can. I want some wacky 80's jeans.

Help!

I'm going to a concert in a couple of weeks and want to make a kick butt shirt.

Here's what I have to start with:

Any suggestions?

I have a sort of built-up post. With LOTS of pictures! I made a tote bag that I am quite proud of, even though the lining is getting weak spots and I'll have to do something about that soon... )

And I also sewed some stars onto some shoes I have... )

And I painted a picture of my boyfriend from his graduation picture... )

I have a couple of boxes full of library catalog cards. There's a wide variety of cards here -- some with complete cataloging information, some with just a couple of lines. Some are blue, some are white, some are cream. This photo shows a few samples:

These could be great for craft projects, or just use them as notecards. I'll send you a bunch for just the cost of shipping. If you're interested, email me at zineworld@gmail.com for more details.

I have a bunch of 4" squares. 280 squares, actually. There are 100 with various floral prints, 50 in different shades of purple, 50 in different shades of green, 40 in differentshades of orange, and 40 that are half yellow and half light blue.

I'm wondering if I should just make them all into one giant quilt, or if I should make a smaller quilt and a pillow/pillow case that matches? I also thought about using some of them to make a scrap fabric looking bag, because I haven't made a bag in awhile.

What would you do with that many squares?

So you know how I asked for bonnet help last night? Well, I figured it out, more or less. I need to trim the pattern down so it's smaller both in the head part and the brim, and get interfacing for the brim, but I think it's a fairly decent job, for just looking at pictures and cutting paper up til it looked about right! It's lined and everything! The fabric is this crappy polyester stuff I had a ton of (Mom made bathroom curtains out of it, then donated the fabric to me when she changed the decor); when I make them for real, I'll make them out of cute little floral prints, probably. Maybe gingham, hee! And some nice cotton, or maybe denim or cordouroy for fall! Anyway, enough rambling, pictures!

Bonnet bonnet bonnet! )

I also made the invitations for my Polka Dot Party! And I promise I'll make a post once the party's done with pictures of the crafts, favours, and foods.

Seeing spots (sorry, I couldn't resist) )

If anyone has more suggestions for the polka dot-themed party, I'd still love to hear them! One of the things I came up with was prizes for who's wearing the most polka dots, and who's wearing the least (we'll approximate, of course). The prize for most is a candleholder, prize for least is a belt from Target that was in their $1 bins. (If anyone wants polka dot stuff, go check it out, they have lots--headbands, notebooks, magnets, all kinds of things!)

Along that same vein (I know, I know, I'm almost done), is there any reason that painting on the outside of a little glass votive holder with acrylic paint would be bad? Should I seal it with something? What if I decoupaged tissue paper onto the outside (so it's really smooshed down good)? I just don't want anything to melt/burn/catch on fire.

Thanks for looking! :)

I made my dress for Junior Prom this year. The fabric is this sheer shimmery stuff over lining.

so, my little brother realized that i stole two of his shirts while i was home for spring break and demanded them back. as a kind of apology for stealing his (oh so comfy and cool looking) t-shirts, i made him a folder for school. all in all, it was nice to do an arty thing that was not school-related. being an art student kind of poops you out.

i made out of scrap pieces of matt board, newspaper and gouache. i hope he likes it, damned if he would ever give his big sister a call!
