This is my first post ever to this community. All I have to show is a pair of shoes.

I had a pair of black shoes that were mary jane ish that I cut off the straps. I than decided that they would be really cool if they had the bat signal on them. Did I mention that they also glow in the dark? Well they do.

Send up the signal )

Nope I'm not pregnant (my boyfriend was worried I was trying to tell him something). But these little ladies sure are!

The midnight goddess has silver foil and I hit the whole thing with a reducing flame, which gave some cool reddish veins throughout (blue tends to reduce to red... oh for those who don't know reducing means turning up the propane or down the oxygen).

I'm sure going to make more of these! Sounds like my work is going in She Said Gallery soon (a local gallery/bead shop that features women artists) and I think goddesses will go over well there.

I've just read through all the dyeing FAQs and none of them really answered my questions, so I'm hoping you can help me!

I ordered a dress online a few months ago--a black, knee length, A-line, simple dress. (Normally I'd make a dress like that, but I had a gift certificate from Christmas and it was one of the few things I liked on the site.) Anyway, I ordered black but what they sent me was neon freakin' orange. I'm sure some of you could totally rock the bright orange dress, but it just makes me look even more day glow pale than I already am, so I would like to dye it. (Sending it back is not an option, because it was on clearance, and I don't ever want to have to deal with this company again.)

Now, I've heard bad things about RIT dye, but it's the only one I've ever had experience with, so what would you recommend instead? The dress claims to be 100% cotton, but I don't know if that means the thread too or not? Also, what color would cover the orange well? I've never had black dye take particularly well (could be just because I've only used RIT, though) and since this is going to be a hot weather summer dress, I'd rather not end up with black armpits every time I sweat or something. I would love to go with a turquoise or bright green, but I'm guessing if I put that over orange I'm going to end up with something brown? What would YOU do?

Howdy, folks...

This is my first day on this fine, fine community of bright and shiny creative ladies! I'm a hand-quilter, a candler, and a mosaic artist, and sharpies are my favorite to draw with.

Basically, I'm a Virgo who can't NOT be doing something, whether it's tying small pieces of string into knotty messes, or doodling on my shoes. (That sounds gross, doesn't it?)

I'm on Deviant Art as Anchasta, iffin ya wanna go look at some of my mess.

I have a website, most of it is galleries of things I've done.
Here is a candle gallery
Here is a gallery of wax sculpture, like the goddess below
And last but not least, I'm learning embroidery! Here's what I've done so far.

Nice to meet all y'all!

Hi, I've been lurking for awhile, and while I do a lot of crafts, I never seem to get them up here.

So, I had these  plain, white, slip on canvas shoes and I wanted to add some more color...cause I love bold colors.

So, here's some color:

The downfall to wearing stretchy pants almost all the time is that they don't have pockets. So when my cellphone rings or one of my daily event reminders (take a pill) goes off, I have no clue where it is because it's OBVIOUSLY not in my pocket...

because of this dilemma, I decided to make good use of my idle hands while watching one of the Harry Potter movies (we're having a marathon).

Yes, I did have to make a brand new post right after the other one because it's so awesome. Sorry for the annoyance. It's worth it though. Trust me.

..............

Now, first off, I just want to say thanks for all you lovely craftgrrls who gave me advice on the polymer clay questions I had last week.

I've been wanting to start making things out of polymer clay but was afraid of failure.
Your advice really helped. I'm finally a little more confident,
especially after the awesome piece I just baked up.
