Attending Maker Faire 2007 is like going to craft and science geek heaven. Where else can you see robot fights, giant racing cupcakes, art cars and of course a ton of science and crafting demos? Nowhere else, my friend and that's why we all owe a great big pat on the back to the kids at MAKE and CRAFT magazines for making this possible.

For my part, I did a "Make Your Own Felt Yoda Doll" demo (on Saturday and Sunday afternoon) so that kids and adults everywhere could have their own soft, squishy Jedi Master to take home. Both days I had a blast teaching little kids to sew (mostly 8 year old boys who's never threaded a needle thankyouverymuch) as well as crafty adults who wanted to show off their sewing skills.

I have to say, I think I had the most-popular craft demo both days, but I could just be biased. Here's some photos of the demos and what everyone made.

Made it today only took me a few hours. This was a tester as I was testing new things (such as a dog collar) and didn't want to mess it up on the customers one.

I created these mirrors from an old calendar that [livejournal.com profile] chernoblyred gave me. It worked great. It don't seem to get tired of making these!

art boobies )

I posted some of my pocket mirrors with bare-breasted "art history" images here yesterday. Some of the people commented that they weren't "safe for work", even if they were art boobies. I hadn't even thought about them being not safe for work. But, a light bulb went off in my head, and that's why I made these. . . .

Yes, they say "Art Boobie(s)". I made them as pocket mirrors, buttons and magnets. The pocket mirrors are just what you need to discreetly make sure you are showing off the right amount of boobies when you go to work or out on the town.

I found out this morning that my uncle died of lung cancer. I am feeling pretty down about it, and don't have the energy to do much. But making these was a good distraction.

I've been pretty much obsessed for all of this year with shrinky dinks. I have my kitchen counter filled with finished and my roomies are a little concerned. Anyway, I dont have pictures of the other ones beside this. I need to buy a camera because I'm really interested in putting some up for sale.

Other than this one... I have some pornographic designs (heh), old school gangster inspired (Im a bit obsessed with Bonnie and Clyde as well too), cassettes, "Death Cobra" (a fake hair metal band Im "in"), random cartoons, Jesus with lightning bolts, and little baby 6pks of beer. I hope to take some pictures soon but until then... if you live in Chicago, maybe you'll spot me by the Jackson redline transfer because I'm highly considering making myself subway famous with these suckers.

Hi! I've been in this community for a couple of months, but too busy with college and whatnot to be very active in it at all.

Today I sat down for five hours and drew something one could consider "grotesque", or at least not safe for work. )

Now, while I am aware of the sexual aspect of the piece, that is not necessarily the point. I believe art has this weird ability to make almost anything beautiful, to make any body appreciable. (Ever since I started taking figure drawing, I just think almost everyone is beautiful. No lie.) I find line contour visually pleasing. So if you guys could give me your opinions not on the content, but on the piece itself, I'd really appreciate it.

If this isn't okay to post, I'm sorry. I'll remove it.
