I made a shirt! I haven't sewn anything but bags for like two years, so some of the stitching is slightly wonky... and I was supposed to use stretchy fabric and didn't... but still. Whadaya think?

This project is over a year old, but I thought that it might inspire someone out there to break the mold. I made my own cake topper for my wedding. I got a silver metal candle holder from a thrift store for .10, and a pack of sculpey for 2.00. I had silver paint and the background flowers on hand.

I rolled the clay out flat with a rolling pin, cut the heart shapes out with an exacto knife, rounded and smoothed the edges and the corners of the shape. I cooked the shape, then went about filling the base of the metal candleholder with clay. I took my cooked heart shapes and some toothpicks, positioned the design where I wanted it to be, then pressed in, making grooves for the bottom of the heart points to sit on the clay base. I cooked the base, then used hot glue to prop up the heart design. I painted the clay and toothpicks silver, then I hot-glued a bunch of flowers behind the heart. I also got out some rhinestones, but they look really tacky in this photo.

The webpage for the 2007 24 hour zine thing is up and running here -
http://24hourzines.com
. We're ready for your sign up if you're interested in attempting the challenge this year. And what a challenge! To make a 24 page zine in 24 hours from start to finish! You can sign up at any time, but remember that you need to complete your zine during the month of July. And whether you complete your zine or not, you'll still get a button just for trying. For those that finish their zines, I'll send out a copy of my 24 hour zine... or if I should fail *gasp* participants will get a few issues of my perzine. Either way, everyone is a winner!

There's also a button design contest. We're still accepting design submissions until July 15. We've got a few so far, and they'll be put up on the web page in the near future. Buttons will be 1 inch round, and the design is up to you! You might not be rich and famous, but your button will travel and be adored by affectionate zinesters.

There's also a facebook group called "The 24 hour zine thing!" if you're into that type of thing. Facebook - the internet crack of the moment.

hello everyone, im new to this community although i have checked it regulary to see all the neat projects you all have come up with. i have a slight problem regarding shrinky dinks... i just started using them and i wanted to know how you keep them flat while in the oven. i did a few test runs and i cant seem to keep them flat. they just keep curling up into a big mess... maybe my oven is too hot? also, i know the instructions says to use colored pencils but i was wondering if sharpie markers are okay to use on them.

well, thats all on that. i do have a picture or two to share.

i give you quilts! )

Taking a break from painting, having a weight watcher fudge bar (mmmmmm!) and checking my f page. Thought I would post a picture of a couple of primitive rag dolls that are finished 'cept for some accessories. Your thought would be most appreciated!

Hello!
My name is Sam E. and I like to sew and create art!
I surround myself by fabric both at home and at work (I work at a little indie fabric store)
So after watching this group for quite some time I decided to join : ]

For the past week I've been sewing like a mad woman.
(I finished a quilt, a skirt, two clutches and a wallet)
Unfortunatly the only photo I have to share, is last nights creation,
it's thirteen x seven inches.
lined with an eggplant purple and right about perfect.

howdy

two more Wild Things. i gave them to their new owner today, so i can share them with you guys now.

please welcome to the fold (to the island?) Douglas:

and KW

KW looks oddly proportioned in the photos, but her body is actually fine with her head and legs. i think she's the one thats the furthest deviation from the originals, but shes still pretty.

and, for those who dont know, the first offical wild things photo has been released

http://www.aintitcool.com/node/33134

If you have a pair of old brown socks with holes in them, instead of sticking them back on your feet make your own Hammerhead sock doll! Otherwise known to his Cantina pals as Momaw Nadon, this gentle Ithorian was sitting quietly in a darkened booth that fateful day that Luke Skywalker wandered in.

Check out the tutorial here on starwars.com:

So I went and signed up for an Etsy account because I thought I would love to make some money off of the things I make.. Especially with University coming up..

So my question is... How do you ladies advertise sufficiently to get the stuff on your site purchased?
