I usually don't post things, but I generally mean to. XD So I figured I'd post a few items made for a swap package sent out last month...

The images are somewhat large, so I'll stick them behind a cut.

Clay Items )

Edit01: The candle holder was apparently very fragile--moreso than I expected. It broke into many pieces when shipped, a fact that made me very sad, both because my work broke, and because my swap partner was down one item. ;-; Any suggestions on what might fortify/strengthen/whatever a future attempt at a similar candle holder would be greatly appreciated.

Drawstring Pouch )

I would love to know what everyone thinks of the items, any or all of them, how one thinks I can improve, or anything else of that sort. I'm always trying to improve, especially since, sooner or later, I'd love to start selling my items here and there, and I don't want to try only to find out that my work is total crap and everyone hates it. ;op You know how I feel? XD

Hello! Just a question for you crafters! My kid and I are converting one of her my little ponies into Tom Cruise of Planet Unicorn (Heyyyy). I got the haircut down but I need to stick a horn on his forehead, any ideas on where I can get something like this? Like a bead or anything that resembles a horn. Thanks in advance!

alright, so i'll try to keep this short.

i have to choose a new sewing machine, and i need to go purchase it this week. I may have narrowed it down to two options, and i'd really like to get everyone's opinions on this. if you see any others that you think are better than the two i'm looking at, and that are in the same price range, please feel free to let me know.

my first option:

Brother CS-6000I (http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4764726)

my second option:

Brother BC1000 (http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref=br_1_3/602-9407533-0420622?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&asin=B000JKBFWS)

I've heard that Brother sewing machines are a good buy, so I've been looking into them mostly. Please let me know what you think!

...also. my cat died last night, and i want a really good way to remember her. I've had her for 14 years, and she was one of my first pets. i was thinking i could print her picture onto shrinky dinks and make a necklace, but i'd also like to make a photobox, or do something with her food dish. any ideas would be appreciated. thank you.

I want to share two of my recent crafts.

I made my husband a duct tape wallet a few months ago and he likes it a lot but asked me to make him one out of packing tape.

I lost the tutorial I'd printed out and didn't like the ones I found links to in the FAQ, so I went on memory alone.

it turned out decent enough )

I've become obsessed with Perler (fuse) beads!

Look what my boyfriend let me do to him Sunday.

Warning: exposed man boobies )

We had been talking about tattoos, so he let me use magic markers to draw on him. I used sharpies and metallic markers and various other ones. They all came off easily in the shower.

As you all know, I am throwing an alice in wonderland party in the next month. Someone had suggested making a diamond table cover and I thought great, I can make this out of vinyl! but then I got to thinking, why not just buy a vinyl tablecloth and paint it? This will probably be easier for me since the table I want to use it on has an umbrella and a zipper tablecover will work great... but the question is what kind of paint should I use? Will acrylic be ok? or will it not adhere. It is only for the one day, so it doesn't need to be wash safe or anything, just 5 hour party safe. Thanks in advance for any suggestions! I will post my invites when I'm done making them!

So I'm in the process of trying to turn one of the rooms in my apt into a hookah lounge. I've got tapestries, and soft lighting and a cool carpet i got from a consignment shop and a nice dark wood table.

What I really need now is a bunch of big fluffy pillows. Does anyone know where I can get pillow stuffing for free or very cheap? It's doesn't have to be real stuffing, just anything to make it fluffy. The pre-made pillow forms seems to be about $15 each for the 24"x24" size I was looking at and considering I want like 10 of them that way too much.

Any ideas?

Tissue box with three drawers. The small Japanese tissues have a slit across the flat side of the package so they pop up like regular size tissues and they have advertisements on the package. They hand these out at the train stations, how cool is that?

This box holds pens/pencils, has a drawer and is also a coin bank. There is a slit in the top and the coins fall down a slot to the compartment under the drawer. Take out the drawer to remove the coins.

Seen this concept out and about in the crafting community, though I can't remember where, now. I decided to try my hand at it.

Today I made some matchbook notebooks! They are sort of jumbo-sized matchbooks; they are about 2 inches by 2.5 inches. I designed them myself (drew them up in Paint Shop Pro and printed them on textured paper) as well as somewhat shabbily assembled them myself. These are just the first four, I also have a couple others I have printed but not assembled yet. (Including one with an ant and a Tetris design, whee.)

Some more pictures. )

I'm making a taggie blanket for a family friend's little man.

I'm trimming it with ribbon to cover where I sewed the tags on.
Problem is, where I'm finishing off the ribbons at the ends, it's bulky. I've trimmed down as much as I can so it's as small as possible without the ribbons eventually fraying, so my question is this:

how am I supposed to fit it into my sewing machine? And will my needle even be able to handle it?

bad pic and a little more explaination )

I just don't want to break my needle or jam up my machine or ruin this blanket. It's taken me quite a while to get to where I am with it and would hate to have to start over.

Advice please?

I bought a Speedball screen printing kit and have had a hell of a time with it so far. I did a little bit of screen printing in high school but we never used photo emulsion and thats been the biggest hassle so far. Once I finally exposed my screen correctly, and made a test print it looked great, so I grabbed my cloth and slapped the the screen over that, then attempted a second print--no such luck.

The ink only went through the screen in splotchy areas, so I thought maybe I needed to clean it and try again. Washed the screen, then the shirt, and grabed a second shirt while the first one dried, and tried again. The print that looked beautiful and crisp the first time was splotchy and gross looking again.

Now, I'm trying to remove the emulsion with the remover from the kit and it's being difficult. Is there a trick to using emulsion remover? Should I just buy more material and try again? Where can I even get cloth and the cord/tool to wedge it into the frame? Should I give up and pay the thirty bucks or whatever to have it done at a shop?

Thanks in advance for any advice you all may have.

i've checked through the memories on this, but didn't find exactly the information that i was looking for. What kinds of things can i put in resin when  use it, other than paper/photos. I'm assuming I can put glitter in it, but what else? Are there certain things/materials that I should avoid putting in resin?
Also, I'm looking for a cheaper alternative for the casting resin dyes they sell. Is there something else that I can use to color it, like food coloring?

Thanks in advance for your help.. I'll post pictures when I've completed my project!

I have 5 goblet type vases ( each differs from the other ) made out of milk glass ( white ) and wanted to display them but I have no idea what to put in them for decoration. Any ideas?

I finished my "what was I thinking?" skirt today. This was an idea I had after I cut skirt pieces that ended up being too small. It was based on a dress I had seen sewn from mens' ties. I didn't have a pattern for this, and I'm not very knowledgable in sewing (just got my machine last week, though I have made clothing in the past.) So with that in consideration, I say it turned out pretty well. Only one weird spot where it hangs.

The other thing pictured is a tshirt I turned into a lunch bag. Or I guess it could be a grocery bag as well. Recycling! I used the same fabric. My grandmother was letting me go through her fabrics before they left to donation land and I nabbed it.

My husband decided to collect all his beer bottle caps and now we have quiet an impressive collection. I wanted to make belts out of them like the ones I can't afford from Little Earth. For the belt itself, I was thinking about using webbing and those clips you see on bookbags. I'm not sure the name, looks like this. Any suggestions for how to attach the bottle caps? I seem to remember other bottle cap belts where there was some sort of "tack" nailed through the center of the cap and belt. I have drill if you think that'll work (would I need to buy a special bit for that?)

Thanks!

Even though I've watched craftgrrl for quite some time now, this is the first time I've ever posted anything here. Here I am, sporting a "Gordy Sock Scarf" and a simple tote bag. Both were simple to make!

I actually started knitting the Gordy Sock Scarf last winter, but didn't work on it for a few months. I finally was able to finish it recently, and here it is! It is inspired by Gordy, Bumperboy's sock-wearing best friend. In other knitting news, I also learned how to do continental knitting! For those of you who don't know (and actually care), it's knitting with the yarn on your left hand (if you're right handed). I'm not very good at it yet, but I'd like to practice more.

And the tote bag is a late birthday present for my ol' pal Jamie. Hopefully she doesn't read this before I give it to her! It's been a long time since I've made anything on my sewing machine, and I'm proud of this one. I might have to make one for myself!

New to this community...lots of inspiring stuff!!

I repair my clothes all the time (lots of vintage) and the occasional pillow, but not real sewing with a pattern and all. My first time out with guidance...

A dear friend supplied tea, support, and the most fabulous sewing machine ever!! It's German from the last sixties - a Pfaff. Wow, like butter this thing stitches! I was confused at one point when stitching the body, flap, and lining all together inside out. The diagram that comes with the pattern is woefully inadequate.

I didn't cut myself...no blood drawn at all. Wooo! And I remembered for years and years I've had a pin of the letter 'A' and now it's come in handy.
