I decided to keep it simple, just an onigiri. :) He's held together by embroidery thread, stuffed with polyfil, and has an embroidered face. I kept the edges showing instead of turning it inside out because I think it's actually kind of cute for stuff like this, when it's neatly done. Hopefully I did it that way!

Sorry for the bad pic, I only have a scanner right now and not a camera. D; I'll try to get better pics, I was just really excited to show him off!

little 'giri! )

He's about as big as my palm (I've got small hands). Thanks for looking! <3

Hi. My name is Wendy, and I am addicted to playing with beads.

Here are a few bunch of my pieces:

I'm still working on the photography skills, but I think I'm getting better at it. I saw the link not long ago about making a photo studio from a cardboard box and tissue paper and I think I'm going to try that.

I need to go to the ocean. I love documentaries on sea life.  I think I've watched every Cousteau show in existance. I know it's unlikely an octopus would ever be a burlesque queen, but that's the fun of creating fantasy art. I had a blast making these gals. I think the hardest thing was  painting all those dang shells and sewing most of them on Calimari's head.

Calimari Miranda is the dancer  on the left and Bubbles La Tour  is  on the right . If you wish to see more  pictures feel free to visit my site. You can find the link  at my personal journal.

Watching an old Matt Helm movie with a bunch of burlesque dancers in it, was what gave me the idea for these 2 gals. I suppose if the audience was really into the dancing done by these 2 that they'd squirt ink everywhere. lol  Sorry... probably TMI.

I want to do some more of this type of doll though. Seahorse dancers... maybe or might they be  too cute?

I'm trying to whittle down costs on my upcoming wedding. I've found that I can buy champagne flutes at Ikea for cheaper than I can RENT them from the caterer!

So, this leaves two possibilities... Buy all the glasses, then sell them after the wedding to recoup some of the costs, or...

Customize the glasses and use them as favors, killing two birds with one stone.

I was wondering if it's possible to silk screen onto glass, and if so, what kind of paint/etching fluid/etc. is appropriate for such an application. I'd be using photoez (www.ezscreenprint.com) screens, so I can make them conform to the shape of the glass. I'm guessing our names and the wedding date or something.

It's gotta look classy, it's gotta be relatively easy (and hopefully not toxic or something that will dissolve the screen!), and it's important that the glasses be washable and useable afterwards.

I knew that if anyone knew, it'd be this community!

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I emailed the nice folks at etchworld.com to ask if their etching creams can be used in conjunction with silk screen. They said that it does work with silk screen, and that they even sell print gocco supplies because it's something people do pretty often. Awesome! (I figured I'd put this in the main entry in case anyone else ever ends up searching for answers on this. Thanks for all the helpful comments, everyone!)

What is a good material to use for a stencil that will be applied to carstock?

I've seen plenty of posts about using freezer paper to stencil FABRIC...but what about paper?  I am mass-producing little anthology books for a writing class that I teach and the cover design is a recycling sign that I would like to stencil on using acrylic paint.  (or would making a stamp be easier?  if so, how can I use materials that are available around the house, since i am on a very low budget?)

I thought about cutting up a plastic sheet protector to use as a stencil, but that seems kind of flimsy and i'm afraid it might tear while cutting.
i could use a piece of scrap cardstock, i suppose, but i would like the stencil to be waterproof, if possible (since i'm making a bunch of these books and i don't want the edges of the stencil to get soggy after about 5 goes...)

any suggestions would be much appreciated.  i'll post the finished result :)

Hey, this is my first post here =3

I've just finished making a cute, three strand bracelet. It's sobriquet [name] is Shadows and Glass, because I have used black and transparent beads on each strand. Two pictures under the cut =]

PS: Stressed because of having about six assignments for school at the moment, as well as a test on Friday! >=[
