First-time poster, longtime lurker. Yahoo!

So, first things first, I'm a 20-year-old female college student from Maryland. I craft for fun, basically, and I spent many years in 4-H taking top awards for my craft projects. Uhh, these days it's mostly a hobby. Just something to pass the time, really.

This weekend I made a sock baby for a friend that's having a little girl. Being a poor college student, a gift made out of some men's socks sounded like a pretty good idea. I've made a few before for fun, but this was the first one I made with the intention of actually giving it away.

Let me know what you think! :)

I originally posted these to apartment/bedroom communities, but they told me this would be a good place to post. So here I am!

So, after living in a college apartment for three years, our mantle began to become a storage area for random collectibles. I decided it was time to start a project to clean up the area and help pull together the entire living space. So, with recent trips to Michael's, lots of paint, and HGTV playing in the background, I began my battle...

THE PROCESS )

And the final product:

SIDE PROJECT: CADC AGENDA BOARD

So, this isn't really for the apartment in particular, but something crafty, nonetheless. I'm part of a hip hop team called CADC and I created an agenda board that we use at practices to determine what we're doing everyday. We usually use it for our hell weeks (when we practice everyday before big competitions) and post up countdowns or fliers or upcoming events.

What do you guys think? I'd like to hear your feedback.
Thanks for looking!

I have been painting like mad and finally finished a project that i had been meaning to do for quite some time. I did four seasons of the Greenman on wood boxes. Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter each one now has its own box as well as a spring greenwoman and a crow in front of full moon. I think that they turned out pretty cool, especially the spring greenman and woman and the crow (The crow box has a really shiny finish on it and on the outside and inside are bare winter trees)

I made a Bitty Kitty for my sister:

IMG_1553

Two more. )

Made with 2.25 hook and Bernat yarn of some sort. Stuffed with poly fiber fill. If you look not-that-closely, you'll see why I never embroider faces on my animals and why this Bitty Kitty will surely be the last I ever attempt. If you have emboridery advice, feel free to offer it.

Cross-posted just a bit.

some more salt shakers  )

I don't know if anyone has used Lazertran before but I just got it and I am in love. I made this cookie jar from a vintage book scan and added the text. I made the salt and pepper shakers the same way. The hard part is looking around for plain white things to use. Nards to using this stuff on glass or chrome things- it looks too washed out. If anyone has some secrets or anything about using this stuff please let me know.

hi!

i want to paint over an already finished glass/porcelain lamp base, because it no longer goes with the color scheme in the living room. the surface is smooth, glossy, and not transparent. What kind of paint would be best?

Thanks

Here is a wedding quilt I just finished for a friend who's getting married in September. The design is based on one by the very talented [livejournal.com profile] chaelaanne... I loved it so much I wanted to try one of my own. I wanted to quilt it properly by hand, but ran out of time, so I ended up tying it.

Sorry about before, I didn't realise pictures had to be a certain size!

This is my interpretation of the Bodhi Tree... the tree that Buddah sat under when he became enlightened.
