So a few weeks ago I bought some plain black hi-tops. Like so: BOH-RING )

Aaaaaaaand so I painted them! No stencils, no reference pic, NOTHING. I'm pretty proud of how they came out.

A few hours, some paint, and a bitchfit from my mother later... )

So, any ideas for laces?

I spend most of last week making this for my sister in law. Turns out she may not need it but it was sure fun to make.

My most awesomest friend had given me a necklace her mom had purchased in the 70's. Her mom was going to throw it away because she didnt want it and it broke.. So this is what I got!!

So I made a Lament Box pincushion here, with the wrong ink color.  I thought it would look better in gold...

...Is it?  :O

3" x 3" x 3", screen printed on black wool felt with metallic gold ink.  It is difficult to apply the metallic ink evenly on felt, but I guess it's ok in this case, making it look like an antique box.  Stuffed with cleaned felted recycled wool sweater.

Now that this is done, I should start drafting the plan and material needed for my 3-D pinhead cushion...

Hey ladies! It's been a while since I posted. I just moved into a new apartment, and it's really drab and scraggly, and all of our furniture is second-hand and scraggly as well. I was wondering if you ladies had any tips or ideas on how to spruce it up? I would really appreciate your brainstorms!!

Also, here are some lyres that my fiance built and I decorated.

Medieval Musics! Yaaaay! )

Well, anyways, thanks for looking and all your ideas. I really, really appreciate them!

Hi,

I am thinking of buying some Dylon image maker so I can transfer images onto fabric. Before I run out and buy some, I would like to know if anyone has used this product before. Did it work well for you or should I steer clear of it?

I would just like to know before I spend any of my money, as I haven't got much of it at the mo, lol.

Thanks in advance.

I have a question for which the memories held not an answer!

[livejournal.com profile] gender makes these lovely porcelin backed marble pendants. And I would love to make my own, but with a silver back instead.

How on earth is such a thing done?! I cannot figure it out. I would superly superly appreciate any and all help!

:D

I'm not sure if anyone has posted a solution to this or not, I didn't see one, so I thought I'd share. Last night, I made my first attempts at marble magnets. I had two tubes of E6000 glue, and apparently both of them had seeped and were sealed shut. I tried prying one off--didn't work, and since it was flooding outside, I didn't want to risk going out to the store (took me over an hour to get 1.5 miles from work to home). I finally tried one last thing--the oil wax remover I use on my legs. Popped right off. Maybe baby oil would work as well? I don't know. The main things in this remover (clean and easy is the brand, $5 for a bottle that'll last half of forever) are paraffin oil and lanolin, and it's safe on skin, scentless, and very liquidy-so it's able to get up under the cap.
Just thought I'd share my self discovery--every place I looked online it said laquer thinner, gasoline, and lighter fluid for cured E6000. I didn't have any of these items, unfortunately, but for those of you who have something like plain oil, it could work. I didn't even have to twist hard. Hope it may help some of you--the caps have been on since at least February, so it's been a while.

The first of hopefully many Halloween pieces. I love this holiday!

Enjoy!

Also, looking for hints, tips about working with wire for necklaces. I still have found no satisfactory way to finish them off and feel they are secure and not leave sharp ends. I mainly end up using crimp beads and careful wrapping. I went through the eye, wrapped close once around the wire between the crimp and the eye (using eye for say the tab on the clasp) back through the eye then through the crimp. I'll usually vary the technique for the piece.

Thanks!

Ok. I'm not really famous, but this is still pretty cool.

If you remember a few weeks ago, I posted some cloth napkins that I had embellished using a pattern from Sublime Stitching. On a whim, I submitted a picture to their user gallery, and it was chosen! This excites me!

First post here...Lately, I've been making paper. Mwahahahaha, paper!

Scans of some sheets. )

Each page is about 8.5 by 11 inches, but they have very rough edges. These scans are between 1/3 and 1/2 of each page, except for the tea leaves, which is a full picture. They're suitable for scrapbooking, making cards, or any of the ten billion existing types of papercrafts. Well, probably not origami, but everything else. They are extremely thick, and softer than normal paper. The pepper smells like pepper, the cinnamon (not shown) smells like cinnamon.

I could post the procedure, but it's the same one as in the memories. I just really like the different ones I made.
