So, I've got a question, and a bunch of photos I just recently uploaded.

I'm at college, and the weather's still good enough for the table people to be out trying to convert you to Catholicism, environmentalism, Republicanism, La Roucheism, and ten billion Greek societies. Today I picked up a wide variety of stickers that I don't particularly want, because I had the idea of putting something over them. Printing out my own image, or pasting them in some way to fabric and making a fabric sticker. So, basically, free sticker paper, everyone!

But what should I use? Is there any type of glue that would work particularly well with that slick sticker paper? Is there anything I can put over my image to make it look more like a normal sticker? The only thing really coming to mind is Mod Podge, one of the few things I actually have in my dorm room.

And now for the crafts!

8 pictures: a wedding card, a tin box, and a stuffed monster. )

Random question A: I'm looking for a retail location so I don't have to order online. Has anyone seen the Shrinky Dink inkjet paper in Michael's stores? I hope I hope? Their website currently has a project that uses it, but they always have that "all the stuff used here might not ACTUALLY be in the stores" disclaimer.

Random question B: Out of curiosity, has anyone ever seen metal rimmed key tags in anything other than silver?

Now the good stuff: A bracelet I made for a friend for Christmas aeons ago. A cut-down belt and bunch o beads.

I was a ninja this weekend! All my crafty energies have been dumped into cosplay lately, and a few friends and I went to Anime Weekend Atlanta this past weekend. I made three of those white vests, a butt pouch, and my mask.

Eee! Halloween is almost here!

Latest FO, the Short & Sweet from the Happy Hooker book. Here it is, in its pristine white glory....good thing I chose washable yarn... :)

Yes, I'm wearing white.  )
It took two and a half skeins of Lion Microspun in white. I added another row of shells on the bottom because the pattern was a little too short for my liking.

So here's another wood project that's almost done. I need to fix his nose, and slap a coat of clear gloss on him, and he'll be done. (I think)

Why is it so hard to finish stuff? I can be so indecisive, especially the closer to being finished something gets... :)

Here's a couple more shots... )

I have food dye in a shade I haven't been able to find in fabric dye, so I was wondering:

Is is possibly to dye fabric using food dye? It's heavyish, primarily cotton fabric.

If it is, does anything special need to be done to it to fix the colour?

Thanks.

This is what happens when I finally pull the pictures off my camera...You get to see the stuff I finished months ago and never posted!

This bag got made for the boyfriend's daughter. All accounts say she loved it, so good. :)

Black brocade with hot pink interior.

clicky clicky )

Then I made myself a messenger bag.

Natural canvas, skully interior!

clacky clacky )

Now my only problem is that I fell in love with the skull fabric but it one of those "made exclusively for joann fabrics" fabrics, and now I can't find any more of it at the store. BOO!!

Hello, I just joined. I'm mainly a costumer, but I do other crafts sometimes. Knitting, chain maille, and some wig making so far. (Many more I want to learn)

Right now I'm about to start working on a costume and a friend mentioned wanting to try screen printing on her costumes. I've looking into doing it and I have the basic technique figured out, but what I am unsure about is how to do it on these costumes because the fabric is lycra. I know it can be done, but is there a special technique/ink/etc for printing on lycra? One thing I am afraid of is the ink cracking when the fabric is stretched.

Any tips would be great. I searched the community and read the memories, but didn't find anything about this.

For those of you who make candles, I have need of your expertise and knowledge.

I make candles professionally, but I have only ever used pre-treated pre-tabbed wick assemblies. I am branching out into making palm wax pillars. In order to do this, I have to order spools of untreated wick. (The only wick assemblies I can find locally are 6" long at most, and no, I do not want to order online as I can avoid shipping charges by using this company exclusively, thus saving me money.)

My question is, how long do you soak the wick in your wax in order for it to be "fully treated"? And then how do you avoid the wick getting lumpy once you pull the wicks out of the wax?

And because you're all being so helpful, I will post a picture from my product photoshoot late last week.

Soap Spheres! Little spheres of soapy goodness, made from the bits leftover when I bevel the full-sized bars. :)

Thank you! :)

The planter my son built and painted (he's 2 1/2) and I made the cacti for my mother in law's birthday.

She loved it...

Looking for ideas from you crafty girls.

I'd like to make a special friend a bracelet with a few words written/embroidered/something in it. I've never done metalworking, nor am I willing to really try as I don't think I'd be very good at it.

My current idea is very poor, but it revolves around sewing some sort of tiny little strip of fabric, and embroidering the sentence, but I think it'd just end up looking very messy and not too clean. Do you guys have any other ideas?

How durable are shrinky dinks? If I made a sort of flat plate with two punched holes, and then used string to create the other half of the bracelet, would it break easily?

Thanks for any help you can offer!

So I've never posted any thing here... but I sure have haunted forever! I thought it time I actually post something.

I made my dog a halloween costume/winter coat because he doesn't really like the snow.

Haramaki!

Haramaki, aka belly warmers! Once the exclusive uncool domain of the health-conscious, pregnant, and samurai (if you're old school). I've been pondering a more fashionable alternative during the summer, but now it's getting cold! I really wanted something to cover the space between my low-rise pants and shifting t-shirts.

The answer? Head down to the fabric store and get you some cute, super-stretchy fleece, it's haramaki time!

More pictures and descriptions. )

Here is the article that inspired me to make my own. It has lots of cute pictures and ideas.

Oh, and a necklace, while I'm at it! )

I have some embellishments that I've drilled holes in for charms, but now what do I do about the adhesive backing?

Thanks in advance...
