Hey everyone, my name is Becca & I am new here, I love crafts, my whole family is a crafty bunch. My Mom sews, crochets, does some jewelery work, and other little random things she comes across - and she lives for AC Moore, she could seriously open her own craft store w/everything she has. My Dad makes wooden stuff, mostly toys, cars, trucks, trains, planes ect. . As for me and my sister, we dabble in what ever catches our attention span. We both were doing alot of jewelery making, and my Sister use to make a ton of dream catches.

I've already looked around and commented alot & have found so many great ideas! If anyone has any cute crafts for baby *preferably ones that don't require a sewing machine since I don't have one* that would be great, because I am due in December with my first child, which is a boy! So any ideas at all would be great, even baby shower decorations/take home gifts for people attending it would also be awesome! Thanks in advance!

So, I really want a sewing machine. It would be much easier to afford a used one...but what does everyone here think about used sewing machines? Have you had good experiences with them? Bad experiences?

Mostly, I'm afraid that I'll not notice something bad about a machine because I'm completely a novice when it comes to sewing. It feels like I'm trying to buy a car...but I don't know what all those little gadgets under the hood are, or what they're supposed to look like. Even with a new machine, I'm afraid I'll miss some feature that's really undesirable.

And just for some pretty pictures...

This is the pattern the planets make when viewed from Earth. Does anyone else find this picture as inspiring as I do? I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet. Embroider it onto a black t-shirt/bag/pillow? Paint a loose representation of it? I'm just not sure yet, but it's definitely in my file of Things To Do.

If someone else here wanted to do something with it and post the pictures, I'd be thrilled.

A few beady thing I've been up to lately or dug out and realized I'd never posted.

A little flower pendant I put together from some odds and ends. There's a small pearl in the bell of the flower. I think the little vine/leaf squiggle is my favorite part.

This one was a present for my Mom.

And this is what I've been working on lately: It's a little larger... )

Made this just before July, for my sister's 16th.
I didn't end up giving it to her due to the scabbyness of it.. lol.
My first ever hand sewn project. The black bits are all glued on. THAT was a task and a half.
Hot glue guns don't take too well to me.

anywho,
material: black and white felt, stuffing

I bought a lot of vintage bead and pendant hearts and these plastic hearts were also included. Does anyone know what they are and what they are used for? Or, what could I use them for? Thanks in advance...

I've got a bunch of mason jars, because I could only buy them in 12 packs. I need 2-3 to send cake-in-a-jar to a marine.

Any ideas of what I could do with the rest of these things?

Just a quick note to let you know that both of my new knitting patterns are available for free on my blog, spillyjane knits:

Naive Socks (This Must Be The Socks,)

and the Sea Mineral Mittens.

Happy Knitting!

This week I decided to try hemp knotting, except I couldn't find hemp twine so I just used all-purpose household twine.
Made two necklaces.

This one is a really simple choker, just glass pony beads and a little bunch of glass grapes for a pendant.

+ my favourite of the two )

My grandpa died and my grandma sent all of the grandchildren one of his ties (he had lots of them because he was a visiting pastor). I don't know what to do with it and want to use it in a beautiful way. I also have a birdhouse he made me that is just unfinished that i guess I could do something with. I just want it to turn out especially if I cut up the tie....

I know you ladies might have something brilliant that I could do to honor him.
