I entered two dresses into a Recycled Fashion Show at the Art Museum in my town. There were 73 entries! I can't remember if I posted pictures of them while I was beginning work on them, so here are some... ) and here are some pictures of them at the fashion show. my roommate is the model in the green punk/futuristic dress, and she helped me to finish them in a rush the day of the show! we finished with literally enough time to take fast showers and get to the venue for hair and makeup! the green punkish/futuristic one - it's made out of to-go coffee-sleeves that wrap around your coffee cup. i sewed them onto a base skirt and a long-line bra and then we painted it. the back was an elaborate working of velcro in order for her to easily get in and out. and the skirt actually allowed her to sit down by pushing it up, it was collapsable! so far, this is the only picture i've gotten of this dress actually on the runway: ) the other dress is made out of a shower curtain. the sleeves and underskirt are made out of old laundry bags. i used loofah sponges for the trim, shoe bows, hair bow, and panniers underneath the dress. the little red roses are 2 liter coke labels. it was SO much fun, even though we didn't win any prizes. behind the scenes people were digging our dresses, our makeup artists even wanted a picture of herself with my roommate backstage pictures, attitude, and drunken fun )

Sorry if this is a one item only post but this little fella took up all the crafting time I alloted for myself each day.

Be kind, Morris (yes, my pig is a he) is my first ever stab at crochet and my first ever amigurumi.

I had no idea that hook size would determine the size of the creation itself. I had a teeny hook, hence a teeny Morris.

Someone on another community asked about ways to reduce shoe/foot odor. This one is easy, and decorative if you use colorful socks.

You will need:
1 pair of old socks
Needle and thread
1-2 boxes of baking soda
1 handful of dried lavender, rosemary, or any other fragrant herb
Mixing bowl

In the bowl, combine the baking soda and herbs. Crumble the herbs if they are in large pieces. Carefully scoop the mixture into the two socks, putting half in each sock. Sew the socks closed.

You now have two foot-shaped pillows of fragrant odor-absorbing material. When you remove your shoes, allow the shoes to air out for a few minutes. Then stuff in your sock pillows and leave them overnight.

so i've been having a hard time getting y-bails to stay on resin pieces. i've tried e6000 and putting a drop of resin on the back to cover it and hope that would secure it more but it didn't. i've also tried g-s hypo cement. they glue it on, but it's easy to pull it off, and i gave my friend one and from her wearing it a few times it came apart. if there's no glue i guess i'll just have to put eyepins in them, but i think the y-bails look much nicer.

Hey everyone

So I was definitely inspired by the Yoda cake posted a few weeks ago that I decided to make one for my friend's son's 12th birthday. I did it my own way though and keep in mind-first time making and using fondant, sculpting a cake and painting with food colouring :P Tutorial included

in a kitchen far, far away... )
