Two of my sorority sisters are getting married this summer and me being the crafty person that I am decided that I was going to cross stitch their names and the wedding date. I have one picked out and its very pretty and fits my one sister to a "t."

Im having alittle trouble with the other sister however, she's more of an alternative bride. She's getting married in an art gallery and was a graphic design major in college. She loves Daisy Duck, Betty Boop, Celtic would even be great. I was wondering if anyone had come across an interesting wedding date thingie that isnt flowery and the norm. Ive scowered my craft stores and to no such luck found anything. They redid all the Micheal's and A.C. Moore's around here and I cant find anything anymore.

Also I dont know if this falls under cross stitch or not but I was wondering if anyone had any plastic canvas patterns for school related stuff. Im going to be a music teacher or an elementary teacher (Im a double major..eeek!!!) and I thought it would be cute to make some stuff and save it for later. Once again they sell the canvas stuff but no books. :( But if anyone has a great website or pattern or book that they wouldnt mind sending my way let me know!!

Thanks everyone!

Hi everyone. So I came across this community a few months ago from a random google search. I don't really use LJ much anymore but I figured its about time i would post a few of my crafts. I just stared my attempt at some jewelry making. Let me know what you think. :-)

I've been making cards with some of my photos recently. Thought I'd experiment with a different way of using my photos rather than just having them as prints!

A friend asked if I could make him an incense burner. This is a super rough draft I threw together in an afternoon. I just wanted to see if it worked, from now on I'll take my time. I love the idea of the smoke coming out of his mouth but I have a few things I'll tweak for the next. Already have a few orders from people who want one, yay. My only problem is thinking of things that smoke or steam... any ideas? (sorry, the action shot of the smoke isn't great, I need a black background for it to show.)
oops. thumbnail didn't work for the cut )

I'm trying to learn how to sew. It is not a natural talent for me. At all. So far, I've fixed a hem on a curtain and turned old sheets into pillowcases. Then, I decided to turn my kids' old clothes into something fun. Mostly so I could practice sewing, but my rugrats and I also had a blast making a game with beanbags.
Too many pics )

...So, my question is this. How the heck do I sew up the beanbags properly once they're filled? These are done, but I hate the way the edges came out. I'm working on a quilted pillow next, and I really really don't want an ugly, obviously badly hand-sewn seam showing up on the edge. Is there a trick to this? A specific stitch I can Google? Can it be done on the machine? Can it be covered? Could it be any more obvious that I have no idea what I'm doing?

Thanks very much in advance for any suggestions. You gals rock!

A close friend is having a baby in a couple months, and I wanted to make her a few things for the little baby.
She decided with her man to not know the sex, so whatever I make has to be unisexual.

Hmmn, so, what could I make for my friend?

I saw a diaper cake and that was cute, but that isn't what I am going for.

I want to make stuff to actually help.
Mostly fabric things; I have a ton of that!!

Or felt..

Like a sling, or something.

Are there any good tutes for that? I saw one but it wasn't exactly what I would make.

Thanks

Well the first dream catcher I've done for someone other than me in about a year and a half.
This one is for [livejournal.com profile] moonlightgryph

The ring covering is a lavender/blue handdyed/handspun wool. The web is linen with dark blue, crystal, mirrored and purple crackle beads. The feathers are from a african grey parrot, the beads on the bottom are metal and the wool is braided with iridescent thread.

So, I'm walking to work nowadays and I'm not to be exposed to too much sun because of medication and I'm noticing too much sun on my face. I have this sun hat and I hate it.... Since I'm saving money to move I decided to just work with it.
I went with a lolita style seeing as ribbon and lace and bows are slowly taking over my brain.

from seaside to walk through the park )

took me about 7 hours working on it on and off, the needle i chose was too small really but i was too determined to what i was doing with what i had in my hand that it took me a while
