I've been LJ-delinquent for a few months. I've since quit the wage job as my babysitter was making more money than I earned, and finished up a bunch of knitting UFOs. (They've all gone to their respective homes - most of them were Christmas gifts from 2006, 2005, and 2004... and the latest project strung on my needles is for ME.)

Simplicity 2935: it's one of the few things I photographed before sending on its way to its new home.

Does anyone know where I could buy these blank hair barrettes? [preferably in bulk]

I've been googling my butt off, but I don't even know if I'm calling them the right thing - I've been searching for "blank hair barrettes" is that even what they would be called?

Here's a picture for reference:

thanks guys!

Ok, my friend is having a 16th birthday party, with a fancy dress, on the theme of films. she goes to the school I will be going to next year, as do most of the people at this party. I want to make a good impression. I don't want to be wearing anything ridiculous or silly, or anything tacky and revealing. Just something nice. I intend to make it if possible, but with minimum effort as i havent much time. any ideas? Thanks

first time poster...

i have a issue on my hands...

i have tons of (like 30+) t-shirts in my closet that i don't wear anymore (i went working a "mall" job to a "professional" office job) but i would like to do things to/with but since i don't have a sewing machine, it makes it tough/ long to do a project of any kind. does anyone have any ideas for easy hand sewing re-con ideas? i don't want to trash these shirts but putting them up on craigslist or ebay might be the end route.

thanks a bunch.

The Independent Personal Care Business neighborhood, to be exact.

Earlier this summer I made a posted in my own journal and a few communities concerning the FDA Globalization Act of 2008.

Well, here we go again: Another hearing on the matter will be held this week in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday August 5th.

I again urge everyone who is remotely connected to independent business, be you consumer or creator, to look into this piece of legislation and tell your congressmen and women exactly how you feel about having your choices in body care (among other things) further limited by the government.

Don't delay; the time to act is now.

Please, please, PLEASE don't let this continue to fly under the radar. It is a wolf in bloodied sheep's clothing that will further strangle consumer choice in the U.S.A.
