Hey crafty ladies! I need some help. I have a bunch of film cannisters (hooray for being in photo classes), and I don't want to throw them away.

What can I do with them?

Ok I know that a few people has asked this question and there don't seem to be any responses.

Those of you that make the flat backed marble bracelets: How do you attach the ring to use them as charms?

I have been trying to figure this out and for the life of me I cannot.

Also what do you use to seal the backs of them to make them waterproof?

Thank you!!!

I've pulled out my jewelry making materials and made myself some necklaces. Pictures under the cut!

It's the first time I've done anything besides knit, crochet or sew in a long time, so I'm pretty proud I even remembered how to wield the round-nose pliers without injuring myself or those around me!

more sewing...

here are the rest of the dresses i made...plus a quick quilt made from a layer cake- i did not use any pattern was just testing the waters of making a large pieced quilt ( which totally forgot to use my quilt footer...next time..lol) oh and a quick hot pad, using scraps and me testing out my free footer on my new machine ( which is something i will have to practice more with...) on a strange related note: i like layer cakes- especially for quick and speed since the fabric is all precut 10x10 inch squares. it is basically a non rocket science quilt you can make. so think i will be looking into making some more of those- perfect lap blankets.

i still need to actually put the batting and back fabric on the quilt- which i think i am going to let K [livejournal.com profile] nettlecarrier do at work with the large free arm machine.

I had my neighbor's daughters over and we made wooden bead jewelry. It was fun...plus great girl talk.

Do you all have favorite shops on-line you like to get scapbooking paper from? I have LOADS of card stock, but need more paper. Any recommendations?

What I've made at work (so much down time!) in the last two days:

Pencil pouch for my sister, this is the first time I have sewn a zipper on, I did it all by hand and with my own understanding of how a zipper is put on hahaha stumbled a bit on the way but I think it turned out really cute (my sister picked the colors):

I have a t-shirt that says this, it came from Old Navy. Anyway, I realized yesterday that I don't use my greens enough, and I don't really know why, because I love the colour green and all the things it represents too.

I used a base of moretti dark teal transparent, and layered on top of it moretti petroleum green, and odd lot copper green "rusty candy", then some Gaia... reduced the whole thing... and did some raking to get some cool colour striations. The lighter green rounds with the bits of reddish on them are the rusty candy (I love this odd lot!), the darker green are the petroleum green, and the bigger rounds with all the colours have all those colours in them that the focals do.

Oh and these are handmade glass beads (made by me of course).

I just sewed that little throw pillow and I'm stuffing it with some fiberfill.
Question: any tips on getting it to NOT be lumpy? It looks pretty bad right now with all the lumps. I have not sewed up the opening yet.
Thanks!
