Bathroom from hell into ....... )

Our house was a foreclosure and we did all the work ourselves.. even cutting & laying the marble tile yay it took a lot of work, especially in the freeezing cold here in michigan because we cant turn on our central heat because insulation is exposed in the rest of the house... burrr

Hi there,

Does anyone know a different solvent to use to clean rubber stamps of StazOn instead of the "StazOn solvent cleaner"?

Okay, so it's probably the simplest quilt in creation but it's warm and I love it!! Its fleece on the pieced side and flannel on the back and when combined with our new sofa it is the ultimate nap time accessory. As you can tell from the pictures, both of my cats were helpful in the process.

All finished on the kitchen floor

PS: This is my first "keeper quilt" because I'm keeping this one as my holiday present to me (yay!) . It's the first quilt that I have made since I made quilts like this to donate in middle school. The concept hasn't changed even though now I'm married and have two cats...

Hi, I’m Victoria and I’m new to this community. I have a couple questions I was hoping to get answered.I’ve been making flower hair clips, but I want to put sequins on them? How do I go about doing that? The other day in Wal-Mart I saw a hand held sewing machine can anyone give me the 411 on them?

Also, I made this the other night at my friends creativity party, using paper, scissors, glue and pipe cleaners.

Hi all! I just found this community right before Christmas and I joined right away, but this is my first post. First, I LOVE this community! The inspiration I am getting from looking at your posts has been AMAZING! Thanks!

Short intro under the cut! )

Now, that leads to a question I have. I have been doing some hand sewing lately, and enjoying it a ton. I made a bottlecap pin cushion last night, in fact. But I would love to find some resources to give me more guidance on hand sewing. Does anyone have any favorite books or websites with directions or demonstrations on different hand sewing techniques, from embroidery stitches to quilting? I looked through the memories and don't see anything under there, although I am checking out some of the links. Most reference machine sewingm though. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, and I hope to spend many more hours being inspired here! I don't post often, but I do read!

I made this blanket for my younger son, Sam. This is the first blanket I have ever crocheted that is not a giant granny square! I wasn't sure about the colors when I started, but I am very pleased with how it has turned out. It's a little bit smaller than your average crib blanket.

P.s.
This picture was taken on my camera phone, so if the quality isn't that great, that's why.

sorry if you've seen this already, i posted it in punk_knitters but forgot to post it here!

Sooo for xmas i knitted my brother's girlfriend Mallory a hat and scarf combo. I was super impressed with my own work that not-so-secretly i hope that she'd have hated them so that i could keep them and i'd knit her a new set. Shame! She loved them... )

I did some shopping on Joann.com last night (using a Xmas gift card, yay!) and decided to buy myself a Grabbit since I've wanted one for awhile. The Grabbit was listed at $8.99. I put it in my cart and to my pleased surprise, it came up as "Original price $8.00, sale price $0.00." Woohoo! I thought I'd put this out here for any of you who might be planning some sale shopping. (As far as I know this only applies to the burgundy Grabbit, not the "assorted colors".)

They are also having a special offer of free shipping for purchases over $25, until Jan 7: the coupon code for that is EBD007.

I'm working on #47 of my list. This is a trial run on the quilted fabric ornaments. I've learned a lot and I've only pieced together half a ball. I don't like that so much white is visible. I intended it to accent the blue fabric, not overwhelm it. The second ornament that I do--the first I'll be making for a gift--will use the same fabric and have a wired French ribbon in bright blue for the hanger. Trust me when I say that I was out of my element working with a quilting mat and rotary cutter. Also on the agenda for this weekend is making variegated race car crayons for my nephews.

ETA: I suggested to D that perhaps the National Defense Program should be advised on these crayons. Maybe they could serve a purpose keeping our nation safe. The crayons seem to be indestructable (read: refuse to melt, short of, say, a nuclear attack). I should've gotten Crayola..

About two years ago, I came across a post (either here or on craftster) that had a cool idea for a pic frame. I told my boyfriend about it and he said he'd make me one since he's a contractor and already has the tools.

He's busy...and forgetful. And two years later, he finally made me this frame! Today, we put the finishing touches on it and I finally got to hang it on my wall! I'm so excited cuz I've been patiently waiting for it and it's finally here. I know you've seen these before, but here's my boyfriend and my version of the frame. I got the cute little clothespins at Michaels crafts. My boyfriend used dye and stain on the wood. He used maple from Orcas Island for the main part of the frame and did an inlay of douglas fir. After he dyed/stained, he worked it over a few times with tongue oil. It's got a rough finish look, but is smooth to the touch and not glossy at all!

Enjoy the pics! There's a ton!!! :)

***UPDATE*** I FOUND THE ORIGINAL POST. I decide to google and remembered this looking familiar. It's from some other blog that must collect from a bunch of other blogs? I dunno. But here's the link (http://www.curbly.com/alttext/posts/74-Easy-Photo-Wall-on-a-Shoe-s-string-s-wire-Budget) to the post that gave me this idea. It was a photo wall...I just decided to make a frame. I had originally bought clips with hooks but decided they would do too much damage to the photos (cuz they had sharp teeth).

I was going through my old computer files and I found a picture of a Joker mask I made for my friend a few years ago.
She has such a love affair with the Joker it's not even funny, but I made this for Christmas awhile ago and thought I'd post it.

Please forgive the creepiness.
