I've been experimenting with folding a Kawasaki rose for hair clips. I really like how this one came out! I had some card stock laying around, so I wanted to see how well it folded and if I could make a rose out of it.

Success! I did it! :D

I love E-6000. I've begun to call it my "Super Awesome Glue." (This was after having lost all faith in plain ol' "super"glue. Its not so super when all it does is glue stuff TO ME! ...but I digress...)

The only problem with E-6000 that I've found, though, is that - without any type of applicator attached to the bottle, its *very* hard to control the amount that comes out. And also, it dries SO FAST, that practically by the time I've got the cap off, the entire top half inch worth of glue that came out has already pretty much turned to rubber and isn't usable. Tonight, I ran out of this beloved glue when I was half way through a project! I rolled the tube from the bottom like toothpaste, and got one last meager little squidgen of glue out of it. And that was all. OH SADNESS!!

Also, using a spreader of some kind to apply the stuff has proven only to be marginally helpful, at best.

So basically I'm asking you, oh lovely community of savvy crafters - Do you have any tips to get more out of a tube of E-6000? Or, since I've now run out of the stuff and will be supply shopping again soon, do any of you have any recommendations for a similar glue? Is any type comparable at all?

I posted this in another community and my private lj as well, but I'm so happy that I'm practically singing from the mountaintops.

I finished an adapted version of the Skully sweater from the original 'Stitch and Bitch' book, knit with good ol' Lionsbrand Wool and a lot of patience (I ended up killing off the sleeves and turning it into a vest, and the other skull, which I thought looked too garish). Word out to all my profs who didn't complain at me for knitting in their classes!

Also, a couple of years ago, whilst doing the junior-year-abroad (in my case, Denmark), I went to Ireland and found the cutest little knitting store near Ha'Penny bridge in Dublin. I bought two skeins of cute red-pink yarn, and knitted it into a bag. I then tried knitting a strap with....Red Heart! Naturally, it looked ugly and ended up tearing on me. Serves me right for attempting to mix Dublin's finest with awful cheap yarn!

But I went to Joann's quite recently, and found a couple of cute straps to fix the issue. All better! God, do I love Joann's. I even got compliments from muscle guys at the gym last night when I wore it out! (Not what I expected, but hey, a compliment's a compliment, right : )?)
Enough talk....pics! )

[livejournal.com profile] azurefae  linked me to this amazing community.

I went to the craft store looking for resin molds. My trip was not successful for this item, however, Spring silk flowers were in, which means....

Facinators! )
Images are quite large....

On the resin mold note, can anyone recommend a good website to order from? I live in the US. Thank you. ^_^

Bad thing: Whenever I start making something knitted, I can think of a better way to do it in crochet, and whenever I start crocheting something, I can think of a better way to knit it.

Good thing: I just got four skeins of Noro yarn for six dollars each at my LYS. YESSSS.

Ah, the trials and tribulations of fiber crafts.

Hello fellow crafters!

Long time lurker, first time poster. Watching this com is really inspiring! You're all so very talented!

I haven't actually *made* anything in ages. When I got a sewing machine for christmas, I started feeling crafty. So here I present to you one of my first sewing projects (headband bow) and some polymer clay goodies! Comments, opinions, and tips are greatly appreciated!

Check it out! )

(edit) Thank you soooooo much for helping me out!! I did not expect to get this many responses! <3

Hello Crafting ladies
I was wondering if some of you could help me out. I'm working on an art piece pertaining to the makeup habits of women. For this project I need to collect a lot of pictures of women exactly as they are, with absolutely no makeup on, and then with makeup if possible. I have a short questionnaire of 6 one word answer questions. If any of you have the time to do this it would help me out tremendously. You can post them here or e-mail them to me at love.dump at gmail dot com.

Age:
Ethnicity:
How often do you wear makeup?: a) daily basis b) special occasions c) rarely d) never
Occupation (and/or field of study):
Marital status:
Do you have any children?:

And so this isn't text only... )

Firstly a question, I apologise if I've missed an entry on this but I couldn't find one. My boyfriend wants to customise some boots as part of a costume but this involves changing the colour from black to brown. The boots are moulded PVC, can anyone suggest paints that would work for this? Needs to be something flexible so it doesn't crack (as I imagine acrylic based would).

& just so my first post isn't all words here are some things I made for Christmas...
