hey guys, this is my first post here. i recently started making stuffies from the softies kit, which i highly recommend if you want to make things and don't have a sewing machine. i've pretty much sewn my way through the whole kit at this point.

more crafts )

i need some new craft books or kits. can you guys recommend any? i'm mostly interested in ones about stuffed animals or other things you can hand sew, also in embroidery, ribbonwork and felting little animals. i'm not really that interested in knitting or crochet right now, or anything that would involve a sewing machine (i plan to get one later this year, but not yet). but any recommendations are welcome, as long as you remember i'm at a beginner's level and i need books that explain things really well.

i'll definitely be posting here again! have you guys seen stuffed magazine: a gallery of softies? i recently picked one up in the nyc union square barnes & noble, and it's AWESOME. so many patterns and great pictures, really good value for the price. i'm excited for the next issue!

hello!

Amazon list 390 books for Digital Scrapbooking. I was wondering if you guys wouldn't mind telling me what books you like most? I want to know how to do some simple things like create

Ribbons
Buttons
Flowers
Tags

etc.

I want something Scrapbook focused but with a Graphic Design touch ? :/

Seeing as Borders, Books A Million, and Barnes & Noble probably only have like 3 books on this topic and my local library has none! You Guys + Amazon = my only hope.
Thank you!

I posted a photo of a 5 panel tree painting I did and some of you expressed interest in seeing it on the client's wall.
Well here is it as well as a tattoo design I drew for the same client over a year ago. (btw, the nose on the mask/face was added in by the tattoo artist)

My best friend will be having her first baby in July and I am wanting to make her http://dollmaker.nunodoll.com/cat/terrycats.html . They are awesomely cute and I am going to do it 2 tone with actually just about the colours they have in the picture for them.

My question is: How do I attach the head without having the stitching seen and to ensure that it is strong enough for a baby to pull at? Should I use white crochet cotton?

I will post pictures after I am done everything because there are a few more things I am making such as stuffed beach balls and a blanket :) Shes having a little boy so everything is in shades of blue white yellow and green :D

Hi, I'm hoping someone out there might be able to help me. I'm trying to make a smallish sculpture of a tree and I can't seem to make it stay together. I didn't want it to be solid clay so I molded it around a plastic gum container. I used air-dry clay from the dollar store. As it dried it it started cracking all over. Is it because I used cheap clay or because it shrunk around something unyielding, in which case what should I have used? I have very little experience with clay modeling but I saw a very cute wedding cake topper that I can't afford so I'd really like to be able to make it! Thanks in advance to any one who can point me in the right direction. :)

So I got a free pattern from Lion for a flower motif scarf and I thought... Ooo! Baby blanket! So I made 80 3.5" flowers and now I am painstakingly sewing them together. After that, I will do some kind of border to help hold it together better and keep its shape. Here are some pics.
